No rest during Carnival

Basketball team takes advantage of period without games in the NBB to improve training

Flamengo's professional basketball team won't play again until March 11.03th, against Joinville, in Joinville, for the NBB (New Basketball Brazil). But the Red-Blacks won't rest until then. On the contrary, the team wants to take advantage of the days off to improve the plays implemented by Argentine coach Gonzalo Garcia. Since taking over the team on January 3rd, Garcia hasn't had time to implement new tactics. This is because Flamengo has been on a veritable marathon of games and travel, in the NBB and the League of the Americas.

"The team needed a little rest and a lot of work", summarized winger Teichmann after the victory over Paulistano, last Sunday (27.02), the last game before the Carnival break.

Flamengo is second in the competition's overall standings, with 15 wins in 21 games (71,43% success rate). The leader is Pinheiros, with one more win (76,19% success rate).

"This time will be very important for us. Finally, we'll be able to perfect what Gonzalo has been trying to put into practice since he joined the team. The team already showed a change in attitude in the last match, against Paulistano, and the trend is for it to improve even more from now on," said winger/guard Duda.

This week and next, training will take place in two periods (morning and afternoon), in Gávea (physical) and at HSBC Arena (tactical).
