U-13 finishes fourth and U-15 embarks today for South American
Teams from Mais Querido participate in international competition in Rio Grande do Sul

The restructuring of the process for recruiting and developing new basketball talent has been taken increasingly seriously, as Flamengo aims to retain its National and Liga das Américas titles and win the Intercontinental Championship for the second time in the senior category. International competitions to encourage youngsters to pursue the sport are part of this plan by the Olympic sports department, and for this reason, the U-13 and U-15 teams traveled to Rio Grande do Sul last week for the South American competition.
"Overall, it was very good. The team never gave up and showed its worth. It was a very good experience; it helped the athletes develop. We lost to quality teams. Metodista won the championship against LUSB/ES. I'm happy with the work and dedication of the coaching staff and the athletes," said coach Nelson Mourão.

The Flamengo U-13 team kicked off the 19th South American Basketball Meeting for the club in the South American tournament. Mourão's team finished the campaign in fourth place. Meanwhile, the U-15 boys, led by coach Leonardo Bruno, arrived in Novo Hamburgo on Monday morning (July 27.07th) for their category's matches, which will take place until August 02nd.
