Flamengo's U-14 debut with defeat in the State quarterfinals

Flamengo's under-14 team debuted with a defeat in the quarterfinals of the State Basketball Championship against Tijuca, 67-62, in Gávea, last Monday (10.10). This Wednesday (12.10), the teams face each other again, at 11 am, in Tijuca. Rubro-negro needs the victory to stay alive in the competition.
The first match between Flamengo and Tijuca was evenly matched. However, Flamengo failed to show its full potential and allowed its opponent to open up a lead and win the match. The leading scorer and standout for Flamengo was Douglas Rodrigues with 32 points.
For this Wednesday's game, assistant coach Nelson Mourão believes the team needs to correct the mistakes made in the last match to win.
"We have to get things right in the next game. We need to correct the defensive positioning errors and other small mistakes made throughout the match. If that's fixed, I don't see how we won't come away with the win," he said.
