This Tuesday (12), the Crias da Gávea sealed their classification in the Under-16 Brazilian Basketball Cup. Facing Praia Clube, from Minas Gerais, the red-black team won by a score of 76 to 52 and finished the group stage in first place.

Marcos Beegu, the team's coach, took stock of the red-and-black victory in the last match of the group stage.

"The team played very well. It was our best game so far, without a doubt. I talked to the players about how fast-paced the competition is, and with each game the team needs to step up a notch and play better than the day before, and they're doing just that. We played a very strong defense, put in a great team effort on offense, and we didn't let the opponent get a chance to rebound. We created a lot of layups, fast breaks, and knocked down three-pointers. We performed very well, finishing the game with a 24-point lead," analyzed Beegu. 

The Crias da Gávea will face Vasco da Gama in the quarterfinals of the competition. The classic will be held this Wednesday (14), at 16:45 pm, at the Mackenzie gym.
