Under-17s defeat Club Municipal and remain unbeaten in the State Basketball Championship
Next match will be against Vasco da Gama, in Gávea
By Victor Cachoeira - inThis Wednesday (04), Flamengo faced Club Municipal in a game valid for the Under-17 State Basketball Championship. In another great performance, Mais Querido won by a score of 88x47 and remained undefeated in the competition, with two victories in two matches. The match was at the opponent's home, in Tijuca.
João Vitor, with 22 points, was the red-and-black team's top scorer in the match. Elias (13 points) and Ruan (12 points) also stood out, contributing to the U-17s' strong offensive performance. Matheusão, with four blocks, was the team's top defensive player.
Marcos Beegu, the team's coach, gave a brief analysis of Flamengo's performance in the match.
"We had a much better performance than in our debut. In the first quarter, the score was a little tight, but little by little the team took control of the game and we managed to open up a 20-point lead. In the last quarters, we played very strong defense and maintained the pace until we were up 40 points. The pressure marking, which was initially proposed, worked very well, which led to several steals for our team," said Beegu.
The coach finished by praising the attitude of the FlaBasquete boys.
"I was very pleased with the boys' performance, they all had a great competitive spirit and it showed us that we are on the right track," he concluded.
The U-17 group is now preparing to play its first derby in the State Championship. Fighting for the top spot, the Rubro-Negro team hosts Fluminense on April 09th at 19:30 pm in Gávea.
