Just like last season, Marcelinho was the one who shone the most at the NBB closing ceremony, held last Tuesday (09.06). However, the awards for best player, top scorer, crowd favorite and best wing, along with Alex, were not able to minimize the pain of last Sunday's defeat, which caused the loss of the third national championship.
After leaving the NBB party with four trophies in hand, Marcelinho took the opportunity to thank the red-and-black fans who voted for him as the fans' star and showed great humor when revealing the whereabouts of the trophies.
"Although I'm still very sad about losing the title, I'm very happy with all this recognition. At least now I'll be able to fill my trophy cabinet with these four more awards," joked the red-and-black captain, who will enjoy a well-deserved vacation before reporting to the Brazilian national team on July 18.
Despite being individual achievements, Marcelinho didn't forget his teammates and made sure to share all the awards with the entire Flamengo team.
"This is the result of the hard work we've put in throughout the season. I'd like to thank all my teammates, because without them, none of these personal achievements would have been possible. I was actually surprised and very sad that no other red-and-black player was also nominated as one of the best," explained Marcelinho.
