The basketball team makes a point of going to Maracanã to support the football team

A club is divided into areas, departments, and sports. At Flamengo, it's no different, but everyone strives, fights, sweats, and gives their all for the same goal: defending the red-and-black colors. At Gávea, athletes and employees want the best for the club, without prioritizing individuality. Proof of this was the demonstration of unity by the basketball team's "Mais Querido" last Wednesday (October 23.10) at Maracanã. Even on the eve of the State finals, José Neto's group made a point of attending the game against Botafogo to convey strength to the players wearing the Sacred Mantle on the field.
"We wanted to support the soccer team and share that important moment with the players from Jayme de Almeida's team. We got together and agreed to all go. Of course, some of our basketball players interact off the court, but that situation was unique. We wanted to see that game at the stadium because it was important for Flamengo," said coach José Neto.
One of the most enthusiastic at Maracanã was winger Diego Marques. For him, camaraderie among athletes from the same club is essential. "I don't follow soccer much, but I really liked Neto and Marcelinho's idea of supporting the team's players. We're all Flamengo athletes, and we need to pass this energy on to each other," he said.
With the support of its basketball players and the thousands of Flamengo fans who filled the Maracanã stadium, Flamengo grew and put on a stellar performance against Botafogo. The 4-0 rout reflected the nation's performance in the Maracanã seats.
"It was sensational. It's always good to go to Maracanã and see the Flamengo fans perform. I've been there before and it's a beautiful spectacle. You have to go there to know what it's like," said point guard Chupeta.
