In his third match with the Manto Sagrado, Anderson Varejão scored 15 points and helped Flamengo beat Joinville, this Tuesday (6), by 91 to 81 at the Centreventos Cau Hansen gym. After the match, the power forward spoke to the official website about the game, in addition to praising the presence and support of the Nation.
"It was a close game from start to finish, we knew it would be that way. We had our ups and downs throughout the match, Joinville put in a good performance, strong, and physical. We got the lead early in the match and managed to hold it. They closed the gap at one point, but we had the composure to work the ball and win," said Anderson.
Slowly returning to the court, Anderson Varejão commented on his performance and the adaptation process. "I felt good. I still lack a lot of rhythm, because sometimes I'm on the court and I see it, it feels like something's missing. It's normal, as it's been a long time without playing. Little by little, I'm getting there with matches and training. The important thing is to get another win," he stated.
The ever-present Flamengo fans sang and cheered from start to finish, playing a key role in the victory. "The fans' presence was fantastic. Mengão is different, the nation is different, and we know that. We can only thank them for their support and affection wherever we go," he added.
The next opponent for the red-black team will be Caxias do Sul. The match is scheduled for Thursday (8), at 20:05 pm, at the Sesi Gymnasium.
