The game

Maique started the match by calling the shots. The Mengão center was vibrant and sharp-shooting, scoring eight of the Rubro-Negro's first 10 points in the period. Cuello and Jaú completed the scoring for Flamengo, which reached 18-8, but Franca fought back. The quarter ended 20-14 for the Pride of the Nation. The opponent's comeback continued into the second period. The Gávea team saw its shooting percentage drop while Franca increased its offensive prowess and took the lead with six minutes remaining before halftime: 22-23. A three-pointer from Cuello put the Mais Querido back in front shortly afterward. The team also had a strong showing from Scott Machado, who came in well to extend the lead. Gustavo De Conti's men went into the locker room with a healthy lead: 46-35.

The third quarter was evenly matched, but Mengão maintained a strong overall lead, reaching a 15-point lead (50-35). Always one of the team's standouts, Gabriel Jaú maintained his consistency and achieved another double-double in this NBB during the quarter. Scott Machado showed he's recovered from his recent injury and also shone with his three-pointers and assists. Mengão didn't let up in the fourth quarter and extended their lead to 21 points (76-55) in the first few minutes of play. 

Next appointment

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Tuesday (5), for the match against Paulistano, at 20 pm, at the Antonio Prado Jr gym, the opponent's home. The duel will be for the eighth round of the NBB qualifying phase.
