By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inFlamengo's soccer stars, past and present, swapped the fields for the court this Friday. Idols Adilio and Julio Cesar, along with five-time state championship captain Fabio Luciano and right-back Leonardo Moura, attended the Flamengo basketball team's 78-70 victory over Franca at the HSBC Arena. President Patricia Amorim also attended the match.
\A tall man (1,90m), Fabio Luciano reveals that he even tried to play basketball as a child, but didn't have much luck. The former player, who became very identified with Flamengo fans, was happy with the victory of his friends on the court.
\"I played basketball, I tried a little when I was a teenager, but it wasn't my thing. It's good to come here, watch this game, and I cheer for the friends I have here," he said.
\Leonardo Moura was also a fan of the sport as a child. The winger arrived a little late to the gym due to Rio de Janeiro's traffic, but he still managed to watch the basketball stars. And he was also lucky, as a small power outage delayed the game just as he arrived at the Arena.
\"It's good that the game stopped when I arrived. The important thing is to be here, supporting the basketball fans because they're always there at Maracanã too," he said.
\Flamengo returns to play this Sunday, at 11 am, against Palmeiras/Araraquara, at HSBC Arena.
