Great victory for the kids in the first game of the second phase! Flamengo started this stage of the Basketball Development League (LDB) well, scoring a resounding 90 to 50 on the scoreboard at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium in the match against Brasília. Gávea hosts the Brazilian Interclub Championship Under-22 until next Saturday (4).

Maciel led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds. Ruan achieved a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Matheusinho also stood out for the team with 20 points and five assists.

The game
The Mais Querido took the court with Matheusinho, Magno, Rafael Rachel, Ruan, and Emanuel in the starting five. The first quarter was evenly matched, with both teams battling it out in the paint. In the final seconds of the period, Camargo, who played for the senior team last season, scored the basket that put the Rubro-Negro ahead: 18-17.

In the second quarter, Matheus Leoni, the club's new signing and one of the biggest names in youth basketball in Brazil, made his debut for the Manto Sagrado, playing the No. 1 position. As the period progressed, he switched to the No. 2 position, with Matheusinho providing the playmaking. The match continued back and forth, with the teams taking turns leading the scoreboard. Ruan stood out, with 10 points and six rebounds in the quarter. The Mais Querido went into halftime leading 43-37.

Upon returning to the court, coach Rodrigo Galego's team came out with intense attacking intensity, taking a 7-2 lead in the quarter and 11 points. The lead soon grew even further with a beautiful sequence of four three-pointers for the red-and-blacks: three from Maciel and one from Matheusinho. Ruan continued to dominate the paint and achieved a double-double.

After a much superior third period from Rubro-Negro, the last ten minutes of the duel sealed the overwhelming victory by 40 points.
