After a brilliant and historic season for Flamengo and national basketball, Flamengo is competing for another trophy. Executives, coaching staff, and athletes who were part of the state, national, continental, and intercontinental basketball titles, as well as the unprecedented participation of a Latin American team in the NBA preseason, were nominated for the Make a Difference award.

The initiative is from the newspaper O Globo, to honor the Brazilian protagonists of 2014 who made a difference for the country. popular vote choose the best in each category, until January 11, 2015.

In 2007, the Nação Rubro-Negra won the award for pushing the soccer team from 19th to 3rd place in that year's Brazilian Championship. The fans broke attendance records game after game and thrilled everyone with unforgettable performances in the stands.
