This Friday (29) is a farewell day for a darling of the Red-Black Nation. Point guard Yago Mateus officially ended his time at Gávea. The Monster leaves Flamengo after a beautiful career, full of victories and titles. Defending the Manto with great dedication, talent and commitment, he was champion of Rio de Janeiro, the Super 8 Cup, the NBB, the Champions League and the World Cup.

"Playing for Flamengo and feeling the affection of the nation was a dream. I was very happy during the two seasons I spent at the club, wearing the jersey and winning so many titles. I was able to spend time with great players and friends, as well as excellent professionals. I am very grateful to Flamengo and the fans for everything I experienced!" the point guard said in farewell.

"Yago is one of the phenomenal players in world basketball today. He transformed concepts about playmaking. The involvement of Gustavinho, coach of Flamengo and the Brazilian National Team, was fundamental to his success. He invested in his style, his speed, and his personality. I hope he does well in German basketball, which is quite classic. We'll be rooting for him. There was a buyout clause in his contract, and it was exercised. Nothing wrong. The European club paid and took him. I want to emphasize that the doors of Gávea will always be open to our favorite Little Monster," stated Guilherme Kroll, Flamengo's vice president of Olympic Sports.
