Aiming to train and keep sports professionals up to date, CUIDAR – Unified Center for Identification and Development of Performance Athletes has been holding lectures at the club's headquarters in Gávea. This Tuesday (26), the topic was "Physiotherapy in Basketball." The event was mediated by Flamengo's Physiotherapy Coordinator Alexandre Montenegro, and featured Ricardo Machado, a physiotherapist at FlaBasquete, and Henrique Jatobá, a member of the Brazilian Olympic Committee for over 15 years. 

In partnership with the National Society of Physiotherapy (SONAFE), the lecture was held in the Rogério Steinberg Auditorium and was attended by several healthcare professionals. The event was part of SONAFE's program, which regularly hosts meetings for physical therapists in Rio de Janeiro. Izabel Miranda, Sports Science Manager at Mais Querido, praised Flamengo's role in the initiative. 

"The most important thing was to demonstrate that our professionals are doing their job correctly and, more importantly, in a multidisciplinary manner. Prevention doesn't depend solely on the physiotherapist. Reducing the number of injuries, reducing the impact of these injuries, and the athlete's availability to train and compete depends heavily on the work of medicine, physiotherapy, physical preparation, nutrition, psychology, and physiology, which is what CUIDAR has been doing over the years," stated Izabel. 

"These are practices that are now used internationally. We work closely with the guidelines established by the International Olympic Committee to prevent and improve athlete performance," he concluded.

The next CUIDAR lecture will take place this Thursday (28), also in the Rogério Steinberg auditorium, at 19 pm. Another edition of the Flamengo School of Parents, Athletes and Professionals, the theme of the meeting is “Doping in Sport”, and will bring together at the table Dr. Bruno Fonseca, member of the Anti-Doping Commission of the Ministry of Sport since 2004, Dr. Rodolfo Alkmin, Doping Control Officer of the Brazilian Doping Control Authority (ABCD), and the former gymnast and current Flamengo Land Sports Manager, Luisa Parente, member of the Anti-Doping Court of Justice.
