"That workshop is part of CUIDAR's training initiatives for Olympic sports professionals. This particular event featured the participation of coaches, physical trainers, and physiotherapists, and was a partnership between the Football Sports Science department and CUIDAR. The event program was developed by CUIDAR's Scientific Coordinator, Rauno Simola, and EXOS Consultant, Michael Minthorne. The importance of this event aligns with the current philosophy of the Olympic Sports Directorate, which is based on achieving high levels of performance while preventing injuries, which is CUIDAR's main objective," concludes Izabel.
Last October 22th, Flamengo officially opened the CUIDAR physical space, in Gávea.
"The biggest benefit is for the athletes. They are the center of everything. I usually talk about six areas: physical preparation, technique, tactics, intellectual, educational, and emotional development. All of this represents the science and technology, or simply knowledge, that will form the high-performance athlete. Today, this can no longer be dissociated from performance," adds Marcelo Vido, Executive Director of Olympic Sports at Flamengo, at the time project launch in December 2015.
