Last week, CUIDAR (Unified Center for Identification and Development of Performance Athletes) held two important scientific events at the club's headquarters in Gávea. The lecture "Eye Health and Sports Performance", with Dr. Gustavo Bonfadini, from the Rio de Janeiro Institute of Ophthalmology (IORJ), opened the proceedings on Friday (1) at the School of Parents, Athletes and Sports Professionals, an already consolidated project of the department. The course "Training in Physiotherapy Assessment in Sports", with Dr. Fábio Feitosa, representative of the National Society of Sports Physiotherapy (SONAFE), concluded the scientific cycle of the first week of December on Saturday (2).  

For Izabel Miranda, Flamengo's Sports Science Manager, eye health care should be part of everyone's routine, and during Dr. Gustavo Bonfadini's lecture, attended by around 200 people, scientific evidence and practical examples were presented. 

 

"Ophthalmological exams resulting from the CUIDAR partnership with IORJ are already being performed on the 600 youth athletes, and Flamengo's adult basketball team has also been included. In fact, hours before the event, IORJ representatives held a meeting with the entire technical committee to review the FlaBasquete season-opening evaluations. This ophthalmological evaluation is the first of its kind at Flamengo and represents another benefit for the quality of life of Flamengo's athletes," celebrates Izabel. 

 

Continuing the weekend of learning, the 70st Physical Therapy Assessment in Sports Training Course featured representatives from CUIDAR and SONAFE, Flamengo's youth soccer physiotherapists, and more than XNUMX professionals from other institutions in the city, Volta Redonda, Friburgo, and the interior of São Paulo. Registration for the event sold out in less than a week, another unprecedented initiative by Mais Querido. 

"This initiative aims to improve physiotherapy assessments with a view to aligning and ensuring accuracy in the Pre-Season Assessments of Flamengo athletes in 2018. Furthermore, the training of more professionals will help raise the technical level of professionals working in high-performance sports in the country in terms of injury prevention," explained Izabel. 

The National Society of Sports Physiotherapy is a national and international reference in physical therapy assessments. The eight-hour course consisted of theoretical and practical classes. 

 

Finally, Mais Querido's Sports Science Manager celebrated the success of the knowledge exchange promoted under her management.

"We received several thanks for the initiative to disseminate knowledge. The idea is for Flamengo to become a reference in physiotherapy evaluations and injury prevention through CUIDAR," he concluded.
