In another educational and prevention event, CUIDAR held a lecture on Athlete Recovery after Training and Games. The meeting was held on Wednesday night (7) in the Rogério Steinberg auditorium, in Gávea, and was attended by athletes, physical trainers and coaches from various Olympic sports at Flamengo.

In partnership with SONAFE (National Society of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity), CUIDAR invited the scientific coordinator of Rubro-Negro, Carolina Wilke, to speak about the topic that is of utmost importance for athletes and technical committees.

"Athlete recovery after training and matches is one of the most important pillars guiding CUIDAR's actions, as it works to preserve the athletes' overall health. Therefore, today, in addition to providing athletes with stimulation, good monitoring of their recovery is essential. Carolina has been addressing this topic through her doctoral work," said Izabel Miranda, Sports Science Manager at Mais Querido, who continued.

"We can only better monitor an athlete's recovery when we work multidisciplinary, as several factors influence performance and recovery, such as sleep, nutrition, the athlete's individuality, and the stimuli applied to them, for example. Last basketball season, injury rates were extremely low on the adult team because we monitored these athletes with a joint team that assessed the best way for them to recover after training and games, as they were subjected to various stimuli during the period. Now, we intend to do the same with the women's volleyball team in the Superliga, and this is how we will work with rowing and expand to the club's nine Olympic sports," concluded Izabel.

Roberta Perillier, the artistic swimming coach for the red-black team who was present at the event, also commented on the relevance of the topic addressed in the lecture.

"The lecture was excellent; it's a topic that never goes out of style, as an athlete's physical preparation is completely tied to their recovery. It's a huge challenge to ensure athletes can grow physically and perform well again the next day after training and competitions. The dedication that CUIDAR is showing its professionals is crucial; it keeps us engaged in our studies and well-informed, in addition to providing better training and adding value," noted Beta.
