In the first week of September, CUIDAR held another crucial scientific discussion meeting at Flamengo's headquarters in Gávea. Under the theme "Use of Biological Therapies in Musculoskeletal Injuries: Reality or Perspective?", CRF professionals and guests from the Brazilian scientific community welcomed Camila Carballo, a PT and PhD, a researcher at the Hospital for Special Surgery NYC, in the United States, to the discussion.

"The theme of this Professional School was the most modern and cutting-edge scientific developments in injury treatment, what these therapies are, and the state of the art in the use of these biological therapies. What can be used, what can't be used, what's appropriate... So the discussion was at that level, with people from a laboratory that's at the top of the chain in the United States and worldwide," emphasizes CUIDAR's Medical Coordinator, Dr. Cláudio Cardone.

"This also benefits us because we already have a relationship with them, having Brazilians there. They were at Flamengo during the Olympics, because the head physician of the laboratory is the head physician for US swimming, so we've had contact and relationships with these professionals for some time. This time, we had the opportunity to hold the workshop with a former student of mine, who was in Brazil and is now a recently hired senior researcher. It was an open event, with a lot of international attendees," adds Dr. Cardone.

The event featured professionals from several renowned institutions that work with Olympic athletes across the country, including a representative from the Brazilian Olympic Committee. 

The CUIDAR Professional School takes place periodically and serves as a benchmarking platform for the Center, primarily aimed at the professional training of its multidisciplinary team.
