On a day of yet another decision for Flamengo's basketball team, which takes to the court at night in search of a spot in the NBB final, a victory was already achieved by Flamengo's Olympic sports in the morning. This Monday (9), the club's XNUMXst School for Sports Professionals was held at the Rogerio Steinberg auditorium. This was the first major step in the CUIDAR project - Unified Center for Identification and Development of Performance Athletes, made official and launched with a lecture by Professor Roger de Moraes.

Approximately 100 sports professionals from the Club participated in the event, as well as Estácio students and some professionals from the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), the Brazilian Navy, and the Brazilian Rowing Confederation (CBR). The three-hour course, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., was led by Roger de Moraes, a Physical Educator graduated from Estácio de Sá, specializing in Sports Training with a Master's degree in Clinical and Experimental Pathophysiology from UERJ (2004), a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (2008), and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Exercise Physiology from the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (2014). In addition to his academic background, Roger brings with him applied experience as a swimmer and triathlete—at Flamengo, he was one of the people responsible for bringing triathlon to Brazil.

Flamengo's land sports manager, Luisa Parente, opened the event, which was attended by Flamengo's CEO, Fred Luz, the vice presidents of Olympic Sports and Rowing, Alexandre Póvoa and Bruno Cotecchia, the executive director of Olympic Sports, Marcelo Vido, and the manager of Sports Sciences, Izabel Rohlfs, who is leading the CUIDAR project.

Póvoa celebrated another important step towards the complete restructuring of Flamengo's Olympic sports.

"This day is very important and symbolic for me. When we took over in 2013, we knew we had a huge challenge ahead of us. I was an athlete at the club and have been a Flamengo fan for over 30 years. And our idea was to take advantage of the Olympic cycle to rebuild the club. Since then, a lot has happened, and today we begin with the CUIDAR project to get where we want to be: playing high-level sports. Flamengo has an obligation to lead the country," said the vice president.

Fred Luz recalled that all sectors of the club are undergoing this process of development and pursuit of self-sustainability.

"This evolution is happening in all other areas of Flamengo. We must constantly strive to improve. We still have a long way to go in terms of development, but we are happy to see that we are progressing. Education and training are essential. This applies to football and administration as well. Having Estácio support us in this partnership is an important and very honorable moment for us," he said.

Marcelo Vido emphasized that the support of the club's top management was fundamental for the project to come to fruition.

"I'm grateful for the unconditional support of our vice presidents and our president, as well as Fred (Luz), our executive leader, who consistently supports our Olympic projects. A special thank you also goes to Estácio, which has been with us since the beginning of CUIDAR. For me, as director of Olympic sports, this is a special day," he concluded.

This was the first training initiative of the CUIDAR Project, which also includes four Schools for Sports Professionals, two Schools for Athletes, and two Schools for Parents later this year, in partnership with Estácio and other academic and sports institutions. At the end of the event, each participant received a certificate.
