At a ceremony at the Rio de Janeiro City Council, Flamengo coach Jorge Luís Andrade da Silva, known as Andrade, was honored on Tuesday (15/12), where he received the Pedro Ernesto Medal Set. The award is the most important in the municipality.

Councilwoman Clarissa Garotinho (Republican Party), author of the initiative, justified the tribute. "It was said that as long as the points system persisted, Rio de Janeiro clubs would never win the Brazilian Championship. Andrade is a symbol of this moment, a very important moment of recovery. He has earned his place. He is a winner. He won as a player and as a coach. And he represents the true spirit of Rio de Janeiro football," she said.

Shortly before receiving the medal, Andrade thanked the councilwoman and shared the tribute. "It extends to everyone. From a generation of 80, to Patrícia [Amorim, president-elect of Flamengo], who are part of this generation. The coaching staff and a fabulous group of players, who stayed united and close, and that's why we won the sixth title. And along with this group came the most important thing: the Red-Black Nation. Without them, we wouldn't have achieved this feat," said the coach, who presented the former governor's daughter with a "Hexa na Raça" shirt.

At the end of the ceremony, Andrade posed for photos with a diploma, alongside Clarissa Garotinho; Flamengo president Marcio Braga; and councilwoman Patrícia Amorim. The event was attended by former players such as Gilmar Popoca, Julio Cesar "Uri Geller" (1980 Brazilian champion), and world champions Adílio and Nunes. All gave emotional testimonies about their friend.
