The year 2012 has begun, and with it, yet another structural improvement project for Flamengo athletes and members. This Monday (January 02.01), courts 02 and 03 of the Togo Renan Soares gymnasium, which house the volleyball and futsal teams and schools, began to be renovated in a joint effort by Fla-Gávea and the club's administration.

According to Fla-Gávea Vice President Cacau Cotta, the courts will now have official dimensions to host futsal matches at the club itself. The work doesn't stop there, as the planning includes locker rooms, boxes, and stands. Everything will be considered, from the flooring to the paintwork, in a renovation similar to that of the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, home of the Flamengo basketball team, renovated in 2011 and which hadn't undergone any work since its construction.

"We're very excited. This is another space revitalized with the President's support. Togo had been abandoned for over 20 years. As promised during Patricia's campaign, we're getting the place in order. It's a great feeling to be able to make all this possible," said Cacau, giving a deadline of between 60 and 90 days for the inauguration of the new space.

During Patricia Amorim's administration, dozens of renovations were carried out. Among the most notable are the restoration of the aluminum bleachers and the painting of the fences around the pool, the entrance on Gilberto Cardoso Street, and the Children's Park. Carlinhos Square also received special attention and a new look, as did the sauna, the restrooms on the second floor of the social headquarters and the medical station, the locker rooms at Alameda Fla Boutique, and all the bars at the headquarters. On the Flapel field, the synthetic turf was completely restored, and the Nunes Space, with locker rooms and a barbecue area, was inaugurated. The outdoor futsal court, named Adílio and Julio César, was also renovated.

Volleyball activities will resume on Monday, January 23, and the location used for training until the start of the season in March is yet to be defined.
