Following the start of restoration work on the Olympic pool stands, the soccer stands also began renovations earlier this week. After years of neglect, the stands were painted in February 2010, at the beginning of President Patricia Amorim's term, and are now being repainted.

The renovation was highly anticipated by fans and parents who always come to watch the red-black youth football matches, which are now all held at the Gávea headquarters.

The person responsible for the renovation, vice-president of administration and Fla-Gávea Cacau Cotta, stated that the painting will be completely finished at the beginning of next week and that the maintenance of the stands is something fundamental for the member.

"We want members to have a clean, well-equipped place to watch games with their families. Now, with the increase in membership, they're bringing their families to watch youth team games and support Flamengo. The stands are the club's calling card, and we intend to keep them in good condition," said Cacau.
