Flamengo basketball stars Jefferson and Átila, both forwards and center, reminisced about their careers on the court this Tuesday morning (November 30.11th) during the event "Building Citizenship in Schools," promoted by Flamengo in partnership with the Civil Defense and the Education Department of the City of Rio de Janeiro.
The players spoke about their path to success in the sport and also answered several questions from the approximately 120 children from the municipal school system, who filled the club's main hall in Gávea. At the end, they raffled off prizes, signed autographs, and posed for photos with the children.
"It was really cool to share a bit of our history with the children. It's very rewarding to know that we serve as role models for them," said Jefferson.
Besides the players, the garbage collector Renato Sorriso was also present at the event.
The children attended lectures on the environment, sustainable development, and citizenship, and learned about the work of Civil Defense in society.
"I really enjoyed this experience and I hope I contributed to many children getting into sports," said Átila.
This was the fifth edition of the "Building Citizenship in Schools" event, which has previously featured football stars such as Julio Cesar, Rondinelli, Adílio, and Zico, as well as gymnasts like the Hypólito siblings and Jade Barbosa.
