Erick Flores stood out last year. Flamengo already knows its opponents in the first round of the Malaysian U-19 Champions League. A member of Group A, the Rio de Janeiro team will face Barcelona, PSV, and the Indian national team in Kuantan.
In 2007, the Rubro-Negro team finished third in the competition. The team, led by Adílio, lost in the semifinals to Manchester United, the defending champions. The standout players were Kayke, Pedro Beda, and Erick Flores. The first two are no longer with the club, and the latter was recently promoted to the first team.
Each group of the competition features, in addition to three clubs from the top tier of world football, an Asian U-19 team. The most important interclub tournament in the category will be played between August 2nd and 17th.
This year, Flamengo will send a renewed team, whose players best known to fans are midfielder Aírton and striker Paulo Sergio.
