After winning the State Championship against Vasco on Thursday, Flamengo's board gave the players Friday off. However, the Flamengo team trained last Saturday and this Sunday. The training is aimed at preparing the team for the Liga das Américas.

The championship is viewed by the club's board as an extremely important tournament. Arnaldo Szpiro, the club's basketball director, said he believes the team will perform well.

"We achieved our first goal by winning the State Championship, but we're already thinking about the Liga das Américas. We have to qualify and then try to win the title. The team was made for this, and we're going after another trophy," he declared.

Coach Paulo Chupeta's team debuts in the international competition against Minas, next Tuesday, at 20 pm, in Belo Horizonte.
