On Tuesday afternoon (January 13.01), Luiz Carlos, the 1974 Rio de Janeiro champion defender, visited the Gávea headquarters. The title marked Flamengo's history as it was Zico's first as a starter. The idol spoke of the importance of that title in his life.

"The title meant a lot to me. I played for Corinthians for many years and didn't win a title there. In the first year I came to Flamengo, we won the championship, it was a wonderful championship and it really meant a lot to me. Flamengo is a team I love very much and to this day I have great friendships here. Despite the 40 years since that title, I keep in touch with them to this day and they are wonderful people," he said.
