The champion players of the 1961 Rio-São Paulo Tournament were honored on Thursday night (16.06), during the second edition of Papo Rubro-Negro, at Flaconcept. The event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the victory. Former stars Carlinhos, Jordan and Joubert were present and received a commemorative banner, a personalized shirt and a painting.

Other big names in red-and-black football attended the meeting, such as Evaristo de Macedo, Fernandinho, Nélio, Silva Batuta, Adílio and Julio Cesar "Uri Geller" and were also presented with a shirt.

"After a long absence, it's a joy to return to Flamengo to receive this honor. I've played here my entire life, coaching both the youth and professional teams. In Brazil, people are only honored after they die, so it's great to receive this recognition while I'm still alive," said an emotional Joubert.

President Patrícia Amorim made a point of congratulating the honorees.

"We hope to always relive the best moments of our glorious history, especially winning the Rio-São Paulo Tournament in '61. I thank everyone who wrote such a victorious chapter for Flamengo. We have a responsibility to keep this history alive so that it can serve as inspiration for future generations," said the president.

After the tribute, a roundtable discussion was held to discuss the 1940 Rio-São Paulo Tournament title. At the time, the competition was not completed because the São Paulo teams withdrew. With the highest points total, Flamengo is now vying for the title.

Also present were Marcus Faver, President of the Council of Great Benefactors; Leonardo Ribeiro, President of the Fiscal Council; Carlos Eduardo Mello, Vice-President of the General Assembly; Cacau Cotta, Vice-President of Administration and FlaGávea; Henrique Brandão, Vice-President of Marketing and Communications; Mauricio Gomes de Mattos, President of the Board of Directors; and Mauro Chaves, director of the Flamengo Museum.
