"2010 will be Zico's year. He will be the president of our football," said president Marcio Braga.
At a press conference in the Rogério Steinberg Auditorium in Gávea, Flamengo and Zico signed a memorandum of understanding for the incorporation of CFZ into the Flamengo club. The Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) will be responsible for developing the project and will deliver the report within 90 days. President Marcio Braga is confident of a favorable outcome for both parties.
- "The foundation is being hired to evaluate the assets of Zico's company. This will all be resolved within the next 90 days, and I believe in a happy ending given Zico's enthusiasm and the desire to have him back in our home."
Marcio Braga said he hopes Zico will play for the red-black team from 2011 onwards.
"We want Zico back in our home. Next year, I won't be here as president anymore (Marcio Braga's term ends at the end of 2009). I hope whoever is fortunate enough to succeed me understands this. 2010 will be Zico's year. He will be the president of our football."
For Zico, signing the protocol could be the starting point for him to take on a managerial and administrative role in the Club's football.
- "I admit to contributing to the professionalization of football. I won't give up my commitment to CSKA. I'm happy with this opportunity to return to Flamengo, but everyone knows I have a contract in Russia until 2011, and any termination would result in a fine. It's not in my nature to not complete my projects."
