Tardelli on the red-black screen
Striker signed to become FlaTV's first attraction. Club asks fans for help
RUBRO-NEGRO REINFORCEMENT: Diego Tardelli participates in São Paulo training yesterday, hours before being signed by Flamengo

After lengthy negotiations and a controversy that nearly derailed the transfer, Flamengo announced yesterday the signing of striker Diego Tardelli. The player's arrival, who signed a five-year contract, completes the squad for the state championship and the Libertadores, according to the directors and coach Joel Santana.
To sign the player, Flamengo teamed up with three investors, who helped reach the $1 million asking price São Paulo asked for. Flamengo purchased 25% of Diego Tardelli's economic rights. The club has a fixed amount to pay the investors to acquire a higher percentage. In the event of a future sale of the striker, São Paulo is entitled to 20% of the amount exceeding $1 million.
Diego Tardelli arrives with a mission: he will be the first star of FlaTV. He will be introduced tomorrow during the launch of the club's official online TV channel and will be its first attraction. FlaTV, Flamengo's bid to make the club's football sustainable, will broadcast exclusive footage of training sessions, trips, training camps, and behind-the-scenes footage. Subscriptions will cost R$12 per month, a price chosen to symbolize the importance of Flamengo fans, represented by the number 12 jersey. The club relied on FlaTV revenue to strengthen its roster for 2008. The goal is to reach 500 subscribers.
"Flamengo's football will be proportional to the fan's participation. Rarely has it been so important," said vice president of football Kleber Leite.
Yesterday, while waiting for Diego Tardelli, Flamengo tried to resolve the tension between Souza and the new signing. Recently, when asked about the possibility of playing with Ronaldo at Flamengo, Tardelli said he would like to pair with the Phenomenon. This statement upset Obina and Souza. Souza said Tardelli would have to work hard to play for Flamengo. Yesterday, he softened his stance.
"I may have expressed myself poorly. I arrived with the status of top scorer, but if I play poorly, someone else will take my place. Tardelli is welcome and will help us," Souza said, before explaining how he would welcome the reinforcement. "With a handshake and, if he comes in the morning, a good morning. If he comes in the afternoon, a good afternoon."
Controversy almost made player give up
When talking about vice president of football Kleber Leite's idea of putting them in the same room, Souza joked and remembered that defender Egídio, his friend, is his roommate:
- We'll put in another bed and the three of us can stay, no problem.
Coach Joel Santana tried to close the matter:
"There's no gossip or gossip here. There's professionalism. We're bringing in a high-quality player who fluctuated at São Paulo and is a significant investment. He'll have to prove he's worth the investment."
Tardelli admitted that the controversy almost made him give up on the transfer:
"It could get awkward. I'm arriving in a closed squad. But I've reconsidered. I don't look down on anyone, much less a teammate. If I said something wrong, I apologize to Souza. I admire his football and want to talk to him. Souza is right: I have to fight for my place."
Diego Tardelli was of interest to Santos, managed by Leão, with whom he had his best period in 2005, playing for São Paulo.
"The shirt, the Flamengo fans, and the long contract weighed heavily. Moving to another city will be good for me. I would only trade São Paulo for another big club," said Tardelli.
He claims to have overcome episodes of indiscipline:
- They were mistakes of youth.
Yesterday, full-back Juan confirmed that the club sold 25% of his economic rights to investors.
In the São Paulo Junior Cup, Flamengo beat Goiás 3-1 and reached the round of XNUMX.
Paes plays for the audience and puts pressure on the Fla-Flu duo
President of Suderj threatens to terminate agreement if price increases are maintained
Pedro Motta Gueiros
Eduardo Paes, Rio's state secretary of sports and tourism, president of the Rio de Janeiro State Judiciary Committee (Suderj), and PMDB pre-candidate for mayor of Rio, is campaigning alongside his fans. On Saturday, he'll be participating in the black-and-white motorcade to take Garrincha's bust from Maracanã to Engenhão Stadium. By then, he hopes to have pleased both Flamengo and Tricolor fans. Dissatisfied with the up to 50% increase in ticket prices for the Campeonato Carioca, Paes threatens to retaliate against the Fla-Flu team by ending the agreement that allows both teams to play virtually for free at Maracanã:
"No demagoguery, the increase is excessive. I'll inform the clubs that the program can't be maintained if it doesn't benefit the fans."
In a decision by the Rio de Janeiro Federation, with the clubs' approval, the price of blue seats increased from R$15 to R$20, and the special seats increased from R$100 to R$120. The bleachers, which had a single price of R$20 in last year's State Championship, will now be divided into sections: yellow and green (R$30) and white (R$40). A further increase is planned for the semifinals and finals. According to the Federation's press office, the increase does not prevent clubs from offering promotions for home games. No discounts have yet been announced for Fluminense vs. Cardoso Moreira and Flamengo vs. Boavista, Saturday and Sunday at Maracanã.
"With all due respect and affection for the clubs, it's unacceptable. You can't win on both sides," said Paes.
In the Brazilian Championship, Suderj created a loyalty plan in which the costs of the Maracanã, at the time ranging from R$40 to R$80, were reduced to R$5 upon the commitment of Flamengo and Fluminense to play at the stadium. The contract must be renewed for each competition.
- Our idea was to distribute the profits from the stadium's operation with the clubs, but we gave up - said the secretary.
Former secretary, federal deputy and president of Suderj, like Paes, Flamengo president Márcio Braga is familiar with this type of rhetoric:
- When the guy is a candidate, everything he says sounds like a campaign, but we have to sit down to do politics and resolve the situation without harming clubs and fans - said Márcio.
Despite sending a representative to the Arbitration Council, Fluminense president Roberto Horcades blamed the Federation for the increase. Paes notes that the confusion over the decision's authorship serves to shield those who benefit from it, but he no longer hides his intentions. On Friday, he begins a series of tributes to legendary fans. Whether as president of Suderj or as a candidate, this is the time to defend the fans.

Fla beats Goiás and faces Inter in the round of 16 of the Copinha
With a stunning performance, Flamengo defeated Goiás 3-1 in a comeback victory on Tuesday, securing their place in the round of XNUMX of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. Pedro Beda was the star of the night, scoring twice for the Red-Blacks, who now face Internacional in the next round of the competition.
Goiás started better and opened the scoring 12 minutes into the first half. Toloi made a good run down the right and passed the ball to Marcos Vinícius, who picked it up first time, placing it in the right corner past goalkeeper Marcelo.
Playing on the counterattack, Flamengo struggled against Goiás's strong defense. However, in the 22nd minute, top scorer Pedro Beda broke free on the right, passing the ball past Maycki. The ball hit the goalkeeper's legs and went up. The defender tried to head it away, but ended up putting it in.
After tying the score, Flamengo played better, creating more chances to extend their lead. Then, in the 36th minute, full-back Jorbson made a half-moon pass to the marker on the left, sped down the field, and crossed to the far post. Pedro Beda set it up for the edge of the six-yard box, and Paulo Roberto headed home, turning the game around.
Four minutes later, still riding the wave of the winning goal, the boys from Gávea scored the third. Guilherme delivered a beautiful pass to Pedro Beda, who, from the edge of the six-yard box, skillfully slotted it into the right corner of the Goiás number 1.
In the second half, Flamengo came back satisfied with the result and simply managed the score. Goiás, on the other hand, was somewhat inefficient in creating chances and didn't threaten the Flamengo defense. Left-back Lusmar even managed to scare Marcelo with a cross shot that sailed just wide of the young goalkeeper's post.
However, the most effective play of the second half didn't come until the 27th minute. Toloi received a free kick inside the penalty area. From the penalty spot, he adjusted and unleashed a rocket that sailed over Flamengo's number 26's goal. The match remained in this same pattern until the final whistle. Flamengo awaited Inter, while Goiás returned home.

Fla awaits official notification from Suderj
Suderj president Eduardo Paes' threat to suspend the agreement with the Fla-Flu team to use the Maracanã stadium for R$5, unlike other clubs, which must pay R$30, is not yet causing concern in Gávea. Acting president Delair Dumbrosck prefers to wait for an official statement from the organization before making a statement.
"I haven't been officially notified about this yet. When it happens, we'll discuss it internally. Raising ticket prices was a Federation decision. The half-price ticket thing has become a veritable carnival. Everyone enters the stadium like this," criticized Delair Dumbrosck.
Flamengo sells 25% of Juan's rights —To renew the contracts of some key players and sign new reinforcements, Flamengo negotiated 25% of left-back Juan's rights. But he didn't seem upset about the situation:
"I don't see a problem, it's a way for Flamengo to form a strong group and fight for titles," Juan told Rádio Brasil.
Unusual encounter by the sea
Supporter Marcinho (L) greets Vasco defender Luizão on Barra beach
When the coaching staff scheduled training yesterday morning, they had no idea what would happen.
The players were training hard on Barra beach, in front of the Windsor hotel, where they are concentrated, when suddenly, near the end of the activity, the players saw Vasco da Gama players running towards them.
The unusual encounter drew some laughter from both sides, and some of them even greeted each other.
When Ibson, a supporter, saw Morais approaching, he moved away and jokingly threw sand at the Vasco player. After the physical activity, the Flamengo number 7 said that the rivalry between Vasco and Flamengo only exists during games.
"The rivalry is only on the field. Morais is my friend. It was cool, but we're just concerned about doing good work," said the supporter.
Besides Ibson and Morais, other players also forgot about their rivalry. Midfielder Jonatas joked with Vasco's Marquinhos, Cristian hugged Amaral, and newly signed Marcinho had a long chat with defender Luizão.
For Souza, the final will be between Fla and Flu
Flamengo still has four days to go before its Carioca debut, but if it's up to Souza, the competition final could be brought forward. The striker stated yesterday, after training on Barra beach, that the championship final will be between Flamengo and Flu.
"Given what Flamengo and Fluminense have done at the start of the season, everyone is expecting a final between these two clubs, and of course we are too. They have strengthened a lot, but we are ready for it," Souza analyzed.
If the red-and-black striker's predictions come true and Flamengo wins, they will equal the number of Rio de Janeiro titles won by Flamengo.\ Souza's confidence in the Flamengo squad wasn't limited to his statements. Ibson warned that once the team achieves the ideal chemistry, they will be nearly unbeatable.\
"I expect 2008 to be much better than 2007. Great players have arrived and once we get into the swing of things, we'll have a very strong group," predicted the midfielder.
Midfielder Cristian, who was also quite confident, preferred to look to another Flamengo player, the São Paulo native. The player, who joined Flamengo midway through last year, warned that by maintaining the same core team from last season, Flamengo has a good chance of reaching new heights this year.
"We finished 2007 very well and I think we have everything we need to do even better this year. Our club maintained the same foundation as last year and that always works. We have São Paulo as an example, which has been doing this and doing well," said Cristian.
The club's fitness coach and right-hand man to coach Joel Santana, Ronaldo Torres, also exuded confidence in the team.
"It was the best preseason I've ever participated in, I'm very confident. This group of players is fantastic," said Ronaldo Torres.
Egídio is not content with the reserve
Named the second-best left-back in last year's Brazilian Championship, Juan had every reason to be comfortable with his starting spot at Flamengo. But the preseason in Teresópolis showed the full-back that if he doesn't dedicate himself, he could lose his starting spot to young Egídio, who had a fantastic preparation and shone in most of the training sessions held at Granja Comary.
Egídio was raised in Gávea and always stood out for his speed and precise crosses, his trademark.
Yesterday, after physical training at Barra beach, the player warned that if Juan messes up, he will take his place on the team.
"My mindset is to always give my best. I know Juan is a great player, but I can't just sit on the bench. I'll keep working hard to try to earn that spot," said Egídio, who is unlikely to start the Campeonato Carioca as a starter.
Before Tardelli than never
Striker signs with Fla for five years and will share the room with his rival Souza
Thiago Bokel and Nathan de Lima
Finally, striker Diego Tardelli, ex-São Paulo, was announced
It even rained yesterday in Rio de Janeiro. After a long wait, Flamengo fans met Flamengo's latest signing for the start of the season. And as promised by vice president of football Kleber Leite, striker Souza had better get ready to move his roommate, as Diego Tardelli, 22, formerly of São Paulo, has signed with the club for the next five years.
The director, in fact, was in São Paulo all day yesterday to meet with São Paulo president Juvenal Juvêncio and convince the director to release the player to Flamengo. Although Kleber declined to go into details regarding the negotiation fee, the São Paulo club stated on its official website that Flamengo will pay US$1 million for the striker, in addition to offering a 25% stake in any future negotiations—5% as the club's training partner and a pre-determined 20%.
"I have no problem talking about values. São Paulo is a transparent club," said São Paulo's football superintendent, Marco Aurélio Cunha, in a provocative tone.
Tardelli's signing could have affected striker Souza, who last week argued with the new signing via the press. However, the red-and-black number 9 raised the flag of peace and put an end to the dispute. He won't give up on one thing:
"My roommate is Egídio. If you want to put Diego Tardelli in our room, that's fine, there's room for another bed," Souza joked.
Coach Joel Santana made a point of putting an end to this controversy and even praised the new reinforcement:
"There's no bad atmosphere here, no arguments, no gossip, no gossip. He's another quality player for the group, who will help us a lot this season. I hope he lives up to the value we invested in him," the coach said.
Fla's game against São Bernardo is postponed
Pedro Ivo Almeida
The match between Flamengo and Ulbra/São Bernardo, for the Men's National Basketball Championship, which was to be held next Friday, the 18th, was postponed to February 26th due to the ABC team's qualification for the semifinals of the São Paulo championship.
The São Bernardo team requested the postponement of the game because next Saturday they will begin deciding one of the spots in the São Paulo state finals, against the Assis team, away from home, in a best-of-five playoff. According to Mauro, the São Paulo team's basketball supervisor, the game against Flamengo, with forward Marcelinho (pictured), would be an additional strain.
"Traveling through the interior of São Paulo is long and tiring. We're entering a decisive series, and I wouldn't mind playing Flamengo later on. It's one less strain on our squad," he said.
With that, the next match for the Rio de Janeiro team, which leads the competition with a 100% record (four wins in four games), will be next Sunday, at 18 pm, against Inesul/FEL/Londrina, which is coming off a victory against FTC/EAD from Bahia.

Duck Time

I was carving up a chicken, one of those bakery-style ones that rotates on a spit, roasting in full view of the customer, when I remembered that Sunday was Pato Day, complete with Kaká, Ronaldo, and other creatures. And with one eye on the TV and the other on the fowl that was tantalizing my taste buds, I ended up realizing that all the exaggerations I'd read about the young Alexandre Pato weren't exaggerations, but the purest truth. He's a star, yes, and I'm not going to listen to those who are horrified by praise for genius children: "Be careful, you can ruin Pato, even when he's still a child. He can mask it."
Oh, well, am I going to have to keep chewing myself out so they don't ruin Pato for me? Would they rather the praise come when the young man is a veteran, a tough old duck, capable of breaking my teeth? Pato is sensational. End of story. And what's more: so good that he even made Ronaldo play a great game again, something this columnist thought impossible.
I leave Pato and enter as a monkey. Did the Uruguayan Huracan player really intend to give racist color and form to the episode with Toró? Did he really call Toró a monkey? Oh, he called him a black man and not a monkey? For starters, calling a man black is not an insult. Black and white, at least among civilized people, are the same thing. I think the confusion arose because—I think—they confused Uruguay's Huracan with Argentina's namesake. Argentina is a land of white people and, yes, a land full of racists. And if anyone is offended by this statement, tough luck!
The Uruguayan population, on the other hand, is made up of a significant number of black and mixed-race people. And I'll hand them Obdulio Varela, our 50-year-old executioner, on a silver platter. "Hey, negrón!" If a Uruguayan calls you that, don't argue. Instead, smile. The guy's being kind.
It was a storm in a teacup. Normal in times of scarce news.
I close this package lamenting this mysterious illness surrounding Nenê. Could it be cancer, as his Denver Nuggets teammates are suggesting? I hope not. I pray the boy recovers and returns to the court.
I leave you with a question: did you know that some dietary supplements that aim to turn weaklings into muscular giants have a lot to do with prostate cancer? Think about it.

Diego Tardelli: 'I need the players' support'
Rio - Diego Tardelli put on his sandals of humility, apologized for the barbs he exchanged with Souza, and adopted a conciliatory stance. "I apologize for the argument, as I never meant to disrespect anyone. I need the group's support and would happily share a room with Souza," Tardelli said in an interview with Globoesporte.com.
The striker also revealed his dream of competing in the Olympics, saying he prefers to play as a second striker, creating plays and looking for the game, and revealing his dream of becoming a fan favorite: "Playing in front of these fans motivates any player, especially those who score goals. I want to be an idol at a club that has had so many illustrious players, like Zico and Romário. I hope to do the same and please them."
With a mischievous smile, Souza commented on Tardelli's reception. "If he arrives in the morning, I'll say good morning; if he arrives in the afternoon, good afternoon, and a handshake. He's a quality player who will come to help Flamengo," the striker stated.
JOEL MAKES WARNING
Amidst his praise, Joel made it clear that Tardelli will have to fight for his place on the team. "He's got quality, but he has to understand that the best players play here. The worst players sit on the bench. Tardelli was inconsistent at São Paulo and now he has to show he deserved the investment," said Joel, who believes he's overcome disciplinary issues and put an end to his feud with Souza: "He's an adult now, he knows what he's doing. There's no gossip or gossip about him and Souza here. It's in the past, it's over."
Discovered by São Paulo, Tardelli excelled in 2005. Then, disciplinary issues arose, and the board decided to loan him out. He had a relatively uneventful stint at Betis, São Caetano, and PSV. In the second half of 2007, he returned to Tricolor do Morumbi.
Diego Tardelli signs with Flamengo
Janir Junior
Rio - Former São Paulo striker Diego Tardelli has signed a five-year contract with Flamengo. He will report to a hotel in Barra this Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
The decision on Diego Tardelli's signing was postponed from yesterday to today. According to Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, the deal would be sealed with the signing of the contract. The director traveled to São Paulo to speak with Flamengo's president, Juvenal Juvêncio, to present the conditions under which Flamengo would pay US$1 million and 20% to São Paulo in a future negotiation.
After the exchange of barbs between Tardelli and Souza, it was now striker Obina's turn to weigh in on the controversy. "Diego has to know what to say, as he could upset the group, which is very close-knit. If he comes, it will be to help. We'll talk to him so he understands that adapting here is difficult. Souza and I are under pressure from the fans," said Obina.
Flamengo sells 25% of Juan's transfer to pay off debts
Rio - Flamengo left-back Juan had 25% of his federation rights sold by the club to pay off debts and sign players for the 2008 season. The rights were reportedly purchased by a group of businessmen. The same procedure was followed with players Renato Augusto and Vinícius Pacheco.
"I'm no longer 100% Flamengo. For me, there's no problem at all. It was clearly explained to me when I renewed my contract. Some people might not like it, but for me, it's not a problem," said defender Juan, in an interview with Rádio Brasil.
Joel Santana visits the Mocidade warehouse and says he will help the school just as he did with Flamengo
Rio - After lifting Flamengo out of the relegation zone and leading the team to qualification for the Copa Libertadores, Joel Santana took the plunge and promised to do the same with Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, which has not performed well in recent Carnivals. Last year, the school finished 11th.
In Samba City, during a visit to the Mocidade warehouse, where Joel will be parading, the coach joked, "You know I'm in it to win, right?! I'm lucky, I helped Flamengo, and I'll do the same with Mocidade," Joel joked, who was greeted by president Paulo Vianna and directors Alberto Martins and Beto Monteiro.
Joel received a school jersey and immediately put it on. "I joked with him and said I want a Flamengo jersey now," said Alberto Martins, a Flamengo fan. To avoid wearing heavy costumes or awkwardly bouncing around on the floats, Joel Santana will parade on the ground, dressed as a member of the school's board. Mocidade will parade on Carnival Monday.
Before that, on Carnival Saturday, the coach will lead the team against América. On the Thursday after Carnival, it will be time to face Volta Redonda. During his visit to the Mocidade warehouse, Joel was impressed with the preparations and was welcomed like an idol. Now, he needs to show his samba skills at Marquês de Sapucaí and stop Flamengo from sambaing on the field.
Revenue hike: Eduardo Paes announces retaliation
Rodrigo Lima
Rio - Eduardo Paes, president of Suderj and state secretary of Tourism, Sports, and Recreation, threatened yesterday not to renew the agreement with Flamengo and Fluminense to play at Maracanã at a reduced cost if the proposed ticket price adjustment is maintained. Under the agreement, the clubs pay R$5 per game to play at the stadium.
The secretary described the stipulated prices, which reach R$40 for the stands, as unacceptable. "They've increased the prices absurdly. I see no justification for this, as they made a significant profit last year from the revenue generated by the reduction in fees for use of the Maracanã stadium."
He said he will meet today with the Federation's president, Rubens Lopes, and the club presidents to announce his decision. "You can't win from all sides. Everything done at the stadium is the state's expense. Either they lower the prices or the costs will return to what they were," he threatened.
Eduardo Paes revealed that Flamengo, for example, saved R$2 million in the Brazilian Championship. "Flamengo and Fluminense used to pay R$60 to R$80, and now they pay R$5."
Paes can't interfere with ticket sales at Engenhão and São Januário, as they are managed by Botafogo and Vasco. "They didn't have this benefit because they rarely played at Maracanã," he said.
The president of Suderj said he might even reward the clubs if they agreed to reduce the price. "My idea was to distribute the profits from advertising, food donations, and visits to Maracanã to the clubs. Each month, we raise approximately R$1 million. I thought about setting a performance target and, at the end of the championship, dividing the proceeds according to pre-established criteria."
FLU ACCUSES FERJ
Fluminense president Roberto Horcades said he doesn't believe the agreement with Suderj will be terminated. He blamed the Federation for the ticket price increase. "The increase was decided by the Federation's arbitration. Fluminense and Flamengo only signed what was agreed upon. The Federation, not the clubs, set the price."
Through its advisory team, the Federation's board defended itself by saying that it was the clubs that increased ticket prices to comply with the Fan Statute.
"This price was set because, according to the statute, tickets can no longer be adjusted during the competition. A maximum price was established. However, nothing prevents clubs from running promotions to reduce ticket prices," the statement reads.
FANS WILL HAVE A 'HALL OF FAME' AT MARACANÃ
Not only will the immortal stars have a prominent place at Maracanã. Fans will also have a 'hall of fame' in the greatest temple of Brazilian football. According to Eduardo Paes, the tribute will begin next week, with four illustrious supporters of Rio's top clubs: Jaime de Carvalho of the red-and-black band, Tarzan of the black-and-white team, Dulce Rosalina of Cruzmaltina, and Seu Armando of Fluminense.
Of the four honorees, only the last is still alive. "Our intention is to include a photo of the fan, wearing the jersey and a plaque of honor," explained the president of Suderj.
Regarding the ticket controversy, Eduardo Paes promised to establish a quota for free tickets for fans. "It will be only 10% of tickets. Furthermore, free tickets will have to be collected at the box office for control purposes," he said.

Flamengo beats Goiás and faces Inter in the round of 16
Piracicaba (SP) - Playing in Piracicaba, Flamengo easily defeated Goiás 3-1 on Tuesday night, securing qualification for the round of 12 of the Copa São Paulo, where they will face Internacional of Porto Alegre. The standout performer of the match was Flamengo's Pedro Beda, with two goals and an assist for another. Despite the victory, Flamengo started behind. After a fine exchange of passes, Marcus Vinicius opened the scoring for the Goiás side in the XNUMXth minute of the first half. However, Flamengo had the help of forward Pedro Beda, who turned the tide of the match.
Ten minutes later, the number nine tied the match with a fine move from Flamengo's attack. In the 36th minute, Beda appeared again, heading the ball to Paulo Roberto, who also headed it in to turn the game around. Still in the first half, in the 40th minute, the red-and-black standout sealed the score, tapping it past the goalkeeper.
After a long saga, Tardelli signs with Flamengo
São Paulo (SP) - After a long saga, Diego Tardelli has finally finalized his transfer to Flamengo. This Tuesday, the Rio de Janeiro club agreed to buy the player from São Paulo for US$1 million, bolstering its attack, which already features Souza and Obina.\ In addition to receiving the amount from the sale, Flamengo will also receive 20% of the value of any future negotiations for the center forward. This does not include the percentage for being the club that developed the athlete.\
Tardelli's arrival, however, could pose some problems for the Rio de Janeiro club. Even before his transfer was finalized, he was criticized by Souza and Obina for stating that he wanted to be "a starter alongside Ronaldo." At the time, both questioned the São Paulo player's supposed certainty of being a starter.
For São Paulo, Diego Tardelli made 139 appearances and scored 39 goals. He also won the 2005 Campeonato Paulista under coach Leão, now at Santos. In fact, the coach in question also wanted the striker to join Santos.
Another advantage the striker from São Paulo is his experience in the Copa Libertadores. In 2005, he won the competition, even scoring a goal in the final against Atlético Paranaense. São Paulo defeated their opponents 4-0 after a goalless draw in the first leg.
Juan confirms that part of his federative rights were sold\ Gazeta Press\
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Flamengo has been seeking alternative ways to overcome the financial crisis. This Tuesday, left-back Juan confirmed that 25% of his economic rights had been negotiated with a group of agents. Recently, Flamengo had already sold 32% of Renato Augusto's rights. "This happened last year, during the renewal, and everything was agreed without any problems at the time. It's important to keep key players and also to bring in other key reinforcements. It's also important for the club to honor its commitments and win titles," Juan said in an interview with Rádio Brasil.
On Tuesday morning, the left-back also took the opportunity to praise coach Joel Santana for starting the 2008 season with the core of the team that finished third in last year's Brazilian Championship. "The team is improving physically, and now we also need to focus on the tactical and technical aspects to perform well in the first few games. Maintaining the core is good, because we don't have much time to prepare," he stated.
Juan's satisfaction is also evident when he talks about the fact that Flamengo will play all of its Campeonato Carioca games at Maracanã. "We'll be playing in the stadium we're used to, and with the support of our fans. This helps and is a good path for us," he added.
Romulo returns to training. Rodrigo explains his absence.\ Gazeta Press\
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On Tuesday morning, the Flamengo squad held a physical training session at Barra da Tijuca Beach. The big news was midfielder Rômulo, who, after nearly three months with a serious right knee injury, returned to training with his teammates. Flamengo doctors expect Rômulo to return to play next month. Until his injury, Rômulo was a starter for Joel Santana's team in the 2007 Brazilian Championship.
Another player who trained on the beach was defender Rodrigo, who had missed a physical training session at Gávea the day before. Football manager Isaías Tinoco, however, assured that the player had been cleared to arrange his move on Monday, a fact Rodrigo confirmed. "I came here with just one suitcase. Now I have the opportunity to go to São Paulo and get my things," the defender commented.
Relieved by the management, the defender now hopes to convince Joel Santana that he deserves a spot in the Campeonato Carioca opener on Sunday against Boavista. "I'm working hard to be 20% or 80% fit on the 90th. I don't know if I could last the full ninety minutes, but then it's up to the coach to decide the best way to field the team," he concluded.
Kléber Leite confident in the team's success\ Gazeta Press\
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Despite not yet having achieved his dream of signing striker Ronaldo, Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, is not holding back when it comes to his predictions for the team this season. According to the director, 2008 promises to be a year of great joy for all Flamengo fans. "I think it's been a long time since Flamengo had such a good squad at the start. I'm very optimistic indeed. This year will be a turning point for Flamengo. Flamengo will have complete independence in football," declared Kleber Leite.
Back in the Copa Libertadores, the Rubro-Negro team has significantly strengthened its midfield for this season, particularly in midfield, where defensive midfielders Gavilán and Jônatas, as well as midfielders Kléberson and Marcinho, have arrived. For defense, the team also reached deep into the coffers to sign Rodrigo, who was in Ukraine.

Flamengo confirms deal with Diego Tardelli, from São Paulo
From UOL Esporte\ Rio de Janeiro\
Flamengo confirmed Tuesday afternoon the signing of Diego Tardelli from São Paulo. The forward will be officially presented next Thursday at 12:30 p.m. (Brasília time). The contract will run for five years.
Diego Tardelli signed a five-year contract with Flamengo, who paid US$1 million
To seal the deal, Flamengo agreed to pay US$1 million upfront, plus 20% to São Paulo if Diego Tardelli is sold to another club.
"The negotiations are complete and the squad is finalized. It was a friendly effort. We conducted a financial operation to ensure success, and the main thing is that everything is resolved," said vice president of football Kleber Leite in an interview with Rádio Tupi.
As recently as Tuesday, rumors already indicated that Diego Tardelli would be signed by Flamengo. This is because the striker didn't even participate in São Paulo's training match against Nacional.
With the arrival of Diego Tardelli, Flamengo needs to smooth out some rough edges. At the end of last year, the striker said it would be a dream to play alongside Ronaldo, from Milan-ITA, who was a red-and-black desire.
Irritated, Souza, a regular starter, lashed out at his "rival." "The only striker who would be guaranteed a spot if he comes to Flamengo is Ronaldo. Tardelli, if he comes, will have to fight hard to play, he'll have to sweat. I saw an interview where he said it would be a dream to play with Ronaldo, but he forgot that we have Souza and Obina here," he said six days ago.
On Monday, it was Obina's turn to come to Souza's defense and "attack" Diego Tardelli. According to the club's favorite, the São Paulo forward should be more restrained in his statements.
"I'm not worried about Diego Tardelli's signing. He needs to know what to say. I'll be by Souza's side. Only we know what it takes to be a starter, and someone else comes along and says what shouldn't be. We're very united," he said.
With Diego Tardelli, coach Joel Santana has at his disposal, in addition to Souza and Obina, three more attackers: Maxi Biancucchi, Éder and Paulo Sérgio, who is with the red-black team in the São Paulo Junior Cup.
Juan also had part of his economic rights sold by Fla
From UOL Esporte\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Juan admitted to having part of his economic rights sold so that Flamengo could not only sign players but also settle some financial issues. Unlike midfielder Renato Augusto, the Rubro-Negro left-back didn't seem upset about the situation.
Just like Renato Augusto, full-back Juan had part of his economic rights sold
"I had twenty-five percent of my rights negotiated. This was agreed when we discussed my contract renewal (until December 2010) and there is no problem whatsoever. This arrangement was necessary so that Flamengo could further strengthen the group," he told Rádio Brasil.
Last Friday, the club's vice president of football, Kleber Leite, spoke publicly about the incident. He admitted that Juan and Renato Augusto were not the only ones involved in this procedure.
"Everyone needs to understand the financial engineering we were forced to undertake. We did this because we had no other alternative. And this option enabled us to sign four players: Bruno (goalkeeper), Rodrigo (defender), Kleberson (defensive midfielder) and Souza (forward)," he explained.
Understand the "financial engineering" carried out by Rubro-Negro
In total, Flamengo sold 32% of Renato Augusto's economic rights to two groups of investors. With the proceeds (approximately €3 million - R$8 million), it invested in negotiations with the four players mentioned by Kleber Leite.
Bruno - He belonged to a group of investors (MSI), who demanded payment of the first installment (700 euros - R$1,8 million) by the end of this week. He signed with Flamengo for another five seasons.
Rodrigo - Belongs to Dynamo Kyiv-UKR, who asked for a high amount for a one-year loan.
Kleberson - For unilaterally breaching his contract with Besiktas-Turkey, he was fined €3 million (R$8 million) by FIFA. For the midfielder to return to playing, he had to pay this amount. Flamengo took charge of the case, reached an agreement with the Turkish side, halved the fee, and signed the player to a five-year contract.
Souza - Rubro-Negro held only 25% of the player's rights. After interest from foreign clubs in the striker, the board scrambled to buy an additional 35% of those rights. Furthermore, they renewed his contract, which now has a release clause of €8 million, instead of US$4 million.
Flamengo and Vasco meet on Barra da Tijuca beach
Raphael Raposo\ In Rio de Janeiro\
An unusual event occurred this Tuesday morning on Barra da Tijuca beach in Rio de Janeiro's West Zone. Rivals on the field, players from Flamengo and Vasco met on the sand. This was because both Flamengo and Vasco were doing physical exercises ahead of their State Championship debut.
In a cordial atmosphere, the athletes greeted each other and joked around. When midfielder Ibson noticed midfielder Morais passing by, he approached him, was quick to tease him, and even threw sand at his archrival.
After the gesture, Ibson made it clear that the rivalry between Flamengo and Vasco is limited to the on-field clash. The Flamengo supporter recognizes Morais not only as a great player, but also as a personal friend.
"I have a lot of affection for Morais. We've played against each other many times and on some occasions on the same team, like in the Brazilian youth teams and in the Rio de Janeiro national team. The rivalry only ends on the field," said the midfielder, who is also friends with midfielder Leandro Bomfim, his teammate from Porto, Portugal.
Ibson's speech was echoed by Morais. However, the Cruzmaltino supporter declined to comment when asked who would come out on top in the State Championship.
"I hope whoever plays the best football wins. On the field, we are 'enemies' and each defends their own team. But off the field, we are all friends," he concluded.
In addition to Morais and Ibson, goalkeepers Bruno and Roberto, midfielder Renato Augusto, defender Luizão and defensive midfielders Cristian and Amaral exchanged pleasantries.
Now at Flamengo, Diego Tardelli forgets the "fight" with Souza
From UOL Esporte\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Diego Tardelli, signed by Flamengo (a five-year contract), will only be officially introduced this Thursday. However, before that, the former São Paulo player had to explain what his meeting with Souza would be like. The two have been exchanging barbs for a few weeks.
Diego Tardelli signs a five-year contract and strengthens Flamengo in the 2008 Libertadores
"I apologize if I said anything too much to Souza. I want to come and help Flamengo. The group is very close-knit and has quality players," the striker said in an interview with Rádio Tupi.
The "fight" began at the end of last year, when Diego Tardelli said that it would be a dream to play alongside Ronaldo, from Milan-ITA, a red-black desire at the time.
Irritated, Souza fired back. "The only striker who, if he comes to Flamengo, will have a guaranteed spot is Ronaldo. If Tardelli comes, he'll have to fight hard to play, he'll have to sweat. I saw an interview where he said it would be a dream to play with Ronaldo, but he forgot that we have Souza and Obina here," he said six days ago.
Upon learning of all this, the São Paulo player didn't let it go and said how strange it would be to dream of playing alongside Souza.
At the time, concerned about this problem, Flamengo's vice president of football, Kleber Leite, tried to smooth things over and decided that the two players would be roommates in the training camps.
This Tuesday, after Flamengo's training session in Gávea, when asked about sleeping in the same room as his "enemy", Souza, jokingly, didn't miss the opportunity to give another "poke".
"I share my room with Egidio (left-back). Flamengo would need to add another bed. I'll greet him when he arrives," he said.
In order for the negotiation with Diego Tardelli to be finalized, Flamengo agreed to pay US$1 million upfront, in addition to transferring 20% to São Paulo, if the striker is sold to another club.
Goalkeeper Bruno is the most harassed by Flamengo fans
Raphael Raposo\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Flamengo players began their training session this Tuesday on Barra da Tijuca beach in Rio de Janeiro's West Zone. This resulted in a large turnout of Flamengo fans. One of the most popular, goalkeeper Bruno, commented on the affection shown, especially by the young players.
"There's no way to turn your back on a fan, especially a child, who doesn't mean anything bad in their gestures of affection. When the person approaches you politely, it's even easier. I really appreciate the affection of Flamengo fans," he said.
Like the other Flamengo players, Bruno made a point of greeting Vasco goalkeeper Roberto, whom he met on Tuesday on the sands of Barra, where the Cruzmaltino also trained. For the Flamengo number 1, despite the rivalry on the field, the goalkeepers can very well help each other.
"I remember well a game we played against Palmeiras, for example. Before the match, Diego Cavalieri told me about a hole in Parque Antarctica. When we faced each other at Maracanã, I also warned him about some irregularities in the pitch," he said.
Taking into account the rivalry within Rio de Janeiro, Bruno did not want to point out any kind of favorite in the State Championship, a competition in which Rubro-Negro debuts next Sunday, against Boavista, at 16 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã.
"That doesn't exist; anyone can be a champion. A shirt doesn't win games. There are Fluminense, Vasco, Botafogo, and also smaller clubs, which can complicate things," he stressed.

Tardelli wants to join Souza at Fla
The striker says his goal is to integrate into the great atmosphere among the red-black players
Joanna de Assis From GLOBOESPORTE.COM, in São Paulo
Diego Tardelli could be Souza's teammate in Flamengo's attack in the State Championship
The deal with Flamengo has been a boon for Diego Tardelli, who will report to his new club this Thursday after agreeing to a five-year contract with the board. In an exclusive interview with GLOBOESPORTE.COM, the striker says his goals are clear: to help the team win titles, be part of the great atmosphere among the players, and even share a room with Souza, with whom he recently exchanged barbs in the press. Diego humbly apologizes for any wrongdoing he may have said.
Do you think this discussion with Souza before you even arrived could hinder you at Flamengo?
"I don't think so. What had to happen has already happened. Now I'm part of Flamengo. I apologize if I ever expressed myself poorly, because I never meant to disrespect anyone; I was just misunderstood. I apologize for this discussion. I'm just another Flamengo player, and I need the group's support. I need everyone to be with me, including him. For me, this story is in the past."
Would you share a room with him?
"I'm just arriving. First of all, I don't want any controversy. I'd happily share a room. We're a group. Obina and Souza are friends, and I hope they can get along with me too. That's it. The team is good, it's united, and I want to be a part of it. Everyone here at São Paulo knows I'm playful, and everyone here likes me."
Would you fight for the center forward spot or play as a second striker?
"Souza and Obina have different styles than me. But I don't even want to talk about that, because it's not up to me. I want to start training first and gradually earn my place. I'll adapt to whatever the team needs."
But is your preference to play as a second striker? You could even form a duo with Souza...
- I've always played as a second striker, I have an ease in setting up plays and looking for the game.
Do you know Flamengo's cast?
I know Rodrigo, one of the best defenders in Brazil. He played with me at São Paulo. I also know Leo Moura, who is in great form, and Kléberson, a five-time champion. The entire team is excellent. The squad is strong and will compete for the Carioca and the Libertadores. We'll arrive at the Brasileirão with respect.
How do you envision the next five years, working for the biggest fan club in Brazil?
"Playing in front of this crowd motivates any player, especially those who score goals. I want to be an idol to the Flamengo fans, who have had so many illustrious players, like Zico and Romário. I hope to do the same and please them."
Is the goal to compete in the Olympics?
I always say it's my dream. It's been my personal goal since last year. I want to fulfill my contract at Flamengo. I only left São Paulo after winning titles: the Libertadores and the Brasileirão. I hope to repeat all that at Flamengo.
Do you leave São Paulo with the doors open?
I can only thank São Paulo. I left there on bad terms twice, and now I'm leaving on a high, with the doors open. I'll miss them, because so many good things happened to me while I was there. I had problems as a young man, but that all passed, I grew up, and I've only experienced joy at São Paulo. I like everyone and will miss my teammates.
Fla beats Goiás and advances in the Copinha

Pedro Beda and Paulo Roberto celebrate one of Fla's goals against Goiás
Flamengo's youth team lived up to its favoritism, defeating Goiás 3-1 in a comeback victory on Tuesday night in Piracicaba. With this result, the Rio de Janeiro team will face Internacional, who eliminated Juventude, in the round of XNUMX of the Copa São Paulo.
The game started off tough for Flamengo, as the Goiás team opened the scoring in the 12th minute with Marcos Vinícius, who hit a fine shot into the corner of goalkeeper Marcelo's net. But Flamengo gradually found its feet and managed to equalize in the 22nd minute with Pedro Beda, who received a pass into the box and slotted it past Maycki.
In the 36th minute, the comeback came to a head: a beautiful triangulation in attack, left-back Jorbson crossed, Pedro Beda headed the ball, and midfielder Paulo Roberto headed it into the net. Then, in the 40th minute, more red-and-black celebration on the field: Beda received a great pass from Guilherme at the edge of the box and tapped it in with skill to make it 3-1.
In the second half, with a healthy lead, the red-and-black boys began to pass the ball around more, without opening up too much defense. On the other hand, Goiás seemed powerless to mount a comeback, as they would have to score at least two goals and still have the stamina to play extra time. Thus, after the final whistle, the red-and-black boys celebrated their place in the round of 16.
Ibson lives up to the expectation of his 100th game
Flamengo midfielder plans to take his son Júnior to Maracanã on Sunday
Eduardo Peixoto
There's a slight discrepancy in the official numbers, but Ibson doesn't mind. For him, the match against Boavista will be his 100th in a Flamengo jersey. And this special moment will deserve tribute.
The first of these will be the debut of his son, Ibson Júnior, just two and a half months old, at Maracanã. The midfielder plans to take the field with the baby in his arms. His wife, Cynthia, will also be at the stadium (watch Ibson commentating on his 100th game in the video below).
"For me, this will be my 100th game. And, if everything goes well, I'll be taking the field with Júnior for the first time. He was already at Maracanã when he was in his mother's womb and felt the atmosphere," says Ibson.
Premiere in 2003
Flamengo is still debating internally whether the player will reach his centennial milestone on Sunday or whether the feat occurred in December, in the match against Náutico. Either way, he will receive a plaque in the second round of the State Championship.
Ibson made his professional debut for the Rubro-Negro on June 15, 2003, in a 2-1 victory over Vasco. He remained at Gávea until early 2005, when he was sold to Porto.
After more than two years in Portugal, he returned to Flamengo in July and was the main player in their comeback in the Brazilian Championship. His contract ends in the middle of the year, but he plans to stay at his childhood club.
"I hope I can stay at Flamengo longer this time. My goal is to win titles here even more than to make the Brazilian national team," he comments.

Egídio, in a dispute for the ball with Léo Moura in a training session, renewed his contract until 2012
Flamengo's long-term retention policy has even extended to its reserves. The club renewed left-back Egídio's contract until the end of 2012. A product of Flamengo's youth academy, the 21-year-old is Juan's backup. Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, is a self-confessed admirer.
Egídio also stands out for his friendship with Souza. The full-back and the forward share a room at the training camp and are very close. Souza even said that Diego Tardelli could only enter his room if he added an extra bed. All to avoid losing his teammate.

Souza and Tardelli: together in 2008
No smiles or catchphrases. Coach Joel Santana adopted a serious tone when discussing Flamengo's signing of Diego Tardelli. The public disagreement between the player and Souza last week was handled harshly.
"Here (at Flamengo) is not a place for gossip. It's a place for work, a lot of work," he declares.
However, at least in theory, the coach vindicated Souza's words last week. The striker stated that no one arrives at Gávea with a guaranteed starting spot and said Tardelli would have to work hard to earn a spot.
"The players know my motto is: whoever's in the best position plays. Diego will have to come here and show that our investment was worth it. He's a great player, with the characteristics we want. But if he doesn't work hard, he won't play," warns the coach.

Tardelli will be introduced to Fla this Thursday
The dark clouds surrounding Gávea indicated that Souza's reception for Diego Tardelli wouldn't be the most peaceful. However, before the rain arrived, the Flamengo striker distanced himself from the controversy that had engulfed the two players last week.
Instead of Teresópolis's irritation, the Flamengo's number 9 preferred good humor. He mocked the possibility of his new teammate sharing a room with him, a wish of vice president of football Kléber Leite.
- My teammate is Egídio (reserve left-back). We have to put in a third bed then - he says, laughing.
Tardelli will be introduced on Thursday afternoon. The first meeting between the two is expected to take place on Friday. And Souza isn't raising high expectations.
"I'll shake his hand and welcome him. If he arrives in the morning, I'll say good morning; if he arrives in the afternoon, good afternoon; if he arrives in the evening, good night," he says simply.
The irritation of the top scorer of the 2006 Brazilian Championship began when Tardelli, even before being signed, said that it would be a dream to play alongside Ronaldo - another striker that Flamengo wanted to sign.
The statement, though innocent, resonated poorly at Gávea. The Rio native warned the former São Paulo player to be careful with his words because he'd never been a top scorer in the Brasileirão and would have to work hard to avoid ending up on the bench. Tardelli responded by saying it would be strange for him to dream of playing alongside Souza.
- Time will show him who I am. I have character - says Souza.

Maracanã will begin to adapt for the 2014 World Cup
Aiming to improve some areas that were lacking in 2007, the Rio de Janeiro State Sports Superintendence (Suderj) will implement, starting with this Carioca Championship, some changes compared to last year, primarily regarding ticket sales. The goal is to eliminate overcrowding at the Maracanã and the long lines to buy tickets. Suderj president and Rio de Janeiro Sports Secretary Eduardo Paes explained some of the measures.
Free Tickets\ "The limit will be ten percent of the total number of tickets sold. This is a decision I'm making unilaterally. There will be a ticket office for people to pick up free tickets. We had to take these measures because of last year's high-risk situations."\
Ticket promotions\ “There will be no more promotions, like the one-real ticket promotion. Last year was a lot of confusion.”\
Assigned seats\ "Some places will have assigned seats. It will be a problem at first, but we have to create this culture, even with an eye on 2014."\
Online monitoring\ ”To avoid confusion in ticket sales, Maracanã will have online monitoring of ticket sales.”\

Symbolic fans of Rio's big four will be honored at Maracanã
Eduardo Paes, president of Suderj and Rio de Janeiro's Secretary of Sports, announced this Tuesday that, after the Players' Hall of Fame, the Maracanã will have a Fans' Hall of Fame. After a fan survey, the iconic characters of Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco were chosen. Tarzan will represent Glorioso, Jaime de Carvalho (of Charanga Rubro-Negra) will represent Fla, Armando Giesta (honorary president of one of the organized fan groups) will represent Flu, and Dulce Rosalina will represent Vasco. Of these, only the Tricolor is still alive and will be the first to be honored: on the 23rd, in Flu's match against Duque de Caxias. Jaime (Fla) will be inducted on the 24th, against Cardoso Moreira. The others have no set dates yet.
Paes said the iconic fans will receive a commemorative medal and a painting telling a bit of their story. The chosen location was the entrance to the stands.
- But it will be in a high place, so there will be no problems with vandalism - says the president of Suderj.

Leão wanted Tardelli wearing a Peixe shirt
Santos coach Emerson Leão deeply regretted the signing of striker Diego Tardelli with Flamengo. He was the player he wanted to see wearing Santos' jersey this year. On the other hand, the coach still hopes to retain midfielder Hugo, who is under contract with São Paulo.
"For me, this news (about Tardelli's deal with Flamengo) is very unpleasant, as I've always wanted to count on him. I'm still waiting for Hugo, but we depend on the response from the player's owners," comments Leão, referring to the Flamengo board.
Despite waiting for Hugo, Leão isn't very confident about the arrival of reinforcements. The coach wants a right-back, a midfielder, and another striker. "I'm still waiting for more. Or at least I was."

Diego Tardelli: Flamengo's latest signing
With the signing of Diego Tardelli, Flamengo finalized its roster for the start of 2008. The arrival of a striker was a special request from coach Joel Santana. The board bolstered the squad with seven players. Signings began in October of last year with the arrival of Kléberson. Later, defender Rodrigo, defensive midfielders Gavilán and Jônatas, midfielder Marcinho, and forward Éder joined the squad.
On the other hand, from the squad that finished third in the last Brazilian Championship, the only notable departure was midfielder Roger. The coaching staff considered the player's cost-benefit ratio uninteresting.
Flamengo reached a five-year contract with Tardelli after a meeting held Tuesday afternoon in São Paulo. The club, with the help of businessman Juan Figger, paid US$1 million for 80% of the player's economic rights. The remainder remains with São Paulo. The center forward will be presented next Thursday at a hotel in Barra da Tijuca.

Diego Tardelli is hired by Flamengo
Striker signs for five years with Rubro-Negro and will be presented this Thursday
LANCEPRESS!
Flamengo has finally announced the signing of Diego Tardelli. The Flamengo board reached an agreement with São Paulo on Tuesday to sign the striker, who will sign a five-year contract.
To acquire Tardelli, Flamengo had to pay US$1 million (approximately R$1,75 million). The São Paulo club will also be entitled to a 20% share of any future negotiations for the striker, in addition to the 5% share it is entitled to as the club that trained the player.
Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, met with the player and São Paulo president Juvenal Juvêncio on Tuesday to finalize the details of the striker's signing. Diego Tardelli will be introduced this Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
Once he sets foot in Gávea, Diego Tardelli will have to come to an understanding with Souza. The two have exchanged barbs in the press. Souza was displeased with Tardelli's declaration that he dreamed of playing with Ronaldo—whom the club intends to sign—at Flamengo and felt it was disrespectful to the squad's forwards. Tardelli, in turn, stated that it would be strange to dream of playing with Souza.
Flamengo players and officials downplayed the incident. Kléber Leite even said the two would share a room at Granja Comary in Teresópolis, where Flamengo spent part of its preseason training.
Another problem Tardelli will have to solve is on the field. The striker was born and raised at São Paulo, but his inconsistency led to him being loaned out three more times—to Betis (Spain), São Caetano, and PSV (Netherlands). In 2007, the striker had few opportunities in the Brazilian Championship and felt that leaving São Paulo would be beneficial for his career.

Flamengo's new attacking addition, Diego Tardelli, will arrive at Gávea amid a heated controversy with Souza. With his appointment confirmed this Tuesday, he's taking advantage of this interview to apologize to Gávea's number 9.
LNET!: How do you see the negotiations turning out? I'm happy. This is my first official negotiation. It's great that it's for Flamengo. The main goal is to help them in the Libertadores.
LNET!: Your hiring is very controversial, given everything that's happened so far. How do you see it? I'm arriving quietly, I'll find my place step by step. I spoke with Kléber, who even told me that Obina is a jokester. I'm the same way, and everyone will understand. I'll talk to Souza when I arrive and take advantage of the opportunity provided by LANCE! to publicly apologize. Now everyone is on the same page and helping each other. I don't want any controversy.
LNET!: Your life outside the field has always been talked about a lot...\ That was when I was 18. Now I have a daughter, a wife. I'm more experienced.\
LNET!: How are you physically?\ I sprained my ankle and should be fine in two weeks. I've already had the medical exams at São Paulo and there won't be any problems at Fla.\
Flamengo Juniors win and are in the quarterfinals
Team defeats Goiás 3-1 and will face Internacional
LANCEPRESS!
Flamengo defeated Goiás 3-1, with goals from Pedro Beda (two) and Paulo Roberto, and qualified for the quarterfinals of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. Rogério Lourenço's team will face Internacional, who defeated Juventude 2-0.
The start of the game was worrying for the red-and-blacks. It seemed like the team wasn't playing a decisive match, and Goiás took advantage by dominating the action at the start of the first half, opening the scoring in the 12th minute with Marcus Vinícius.
After the goal, Goiás retreated, and Flamengo took advantage to revive the game. The equalizer was not long in coming. In the 22nd minute, Pedro Beda received a pass and shot past the Goiás goalkeeper. The red-and-black team grew even more and began to dominate the game. The comeback came in the 36th minute, with Paulo Roberto, after a beautiful attacking play featuring Pedro Beda and left-back Jorbson.
It was easy, and in the 40th minute, Flamengo extended their lead. Once again, Pedro Beda, the team's top scorer with seven goals, scored. The forward received a beautiful pass from Guilherme, stepped in unmarked, and finished.
In the second half, Goiás came back stronger in search of an equalizer. But Flamengo threatened their opponent more, especially on the counterattack.
In the second
