According to the police, a group of 400 Flamengo and Vasco fans were heading to Niterói, where the two clubs' basketball teams were due to face each other in the State Championship, when, upon meeting in front of a busy nightclub, they started a fight.
Germano, who was one of the leaders of the Torcida Jovem do Flamengo organized group, was attacked by Vasco fans and beaten with kicks and punches, most of which were to the head.
Germano was taken in serious condition to Souza Aguiar Hospital, where he was treated and found to have multiple fractures and head trauma, but he did not resist and died, according to information from the hospital's Police Room.
