TERESÓPOLIS. The Brazilian Championship is over, with few objectives remaining. Among the teams still fighting for something in the competition, Flamengo has been given an extra boost. Coach Joel Santana, right-back Leonardo Moura, defender Fábio Luciano, and midfielder Ibson received a boost of motivation after being named to the team of the tournament. The club is already fighting for the position that most mocks rival Vasco: runner-up.
What has been a source of ridicule for Vasco in recent years is now a significant consideration for Flamengo. The club will pay players R$500 for second place, R$400 for third place, and R$300 for fourth place and still qualified for the Copa Libertadores.

In a thrilling match, Flamengo defeated Vasco 6-5 in overtime and now awaits the winner of Petrópolis and América to determine their opponent in the State Futsal semifinals. The match was played in Gávea.
The match began with a strong defense, with numerous fouls. So much so that within the first five minutes, Vasco had already committed three fouls and Flamengo one.

Initially, the player's presence in the match was subject to a fine of R$100. However, based on the good relationship between the clubs, an agreement was reached, and Flamengo will not incur any costs.

Flamengo has qualified for the semifinals of the State Futsal Championship. Needing only a draw in regulation and overtime to qualify, the red-and-black team needed extra time to overcome Vasco da Gama 6-5 in extra time (a 4-4 draw in regulation) in the second leg of the quarterfinals, played at the Gávea gymnasium on Thursday night.

The strong pace continued in the second half. More relaxed on the court, the red-and-blacks selected their plays better, and Michel scored the fourth goal. He confirms that midfielders Renato Augusto and Roger are capable of playing 90 minutes, and that their use depends solely on coach Joel Santana's decision.
"The athletes are already fit. The benefit of coming here is more in terms of diet and rest control. Here, the players are focused exclusively on training. Torres also says he gives some players tips on how to maintain the positioning determined by the coach, thus avoiding fatigue due to excessive effort and the possibility of injury.
"In physical preparation, no matter how fit the athlete is, there needs to be coordination. I talked to Juan about focusing more on maintaining his correct position on the field. If he's out of position, playing through the middle, he'll suffer unnecessary fatigue. If he stays in his original position, like Leonardo Moura, his performance will be even better than it has been. They're both in excellent condition, but it's best not to overdo it," he concludes.

With Toró's absence on Sunday, a dilemma that has plagued Flamengo in 2008 has once again arisen: should Renato Augusto play in midfield or attack?
