Flamengo, the club with the largest fan base in Brazil and internationally renowned for its soccer, could become a powerhouse on the track as well, starting in 2008. The car that will represent the red-and-black team in the Formula Superliga will be unveiled today at 9:30 a.m. in Gávea.
The soccer team will be present at today's ceremony. Tomorrow, the car will be unveiled at the Maracanã stadium in front of 80 fans. The new category features teams with the colors and crests of 20 major soccer clubs around the world. Already presenting their cars are Milan, Porto, PSV Eindhoven, Basel, Anderlecht, Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos, and Galatasaray.
Creator wants to promote a GP in Rio in 2009
According to Spaniard Alex Andreu, president of the category, the project dates back to 2003.
"The idea is to combine the passion of football with the technology of motorsports. Few sports leagues start with already established fan bases," he said, adding that he will invite Corinthians. "Where are the most passionate fans? In Brazil. It's impossible to think about football and motorsports without Brazil."
The cars will have Elan/Don Panoz chassis and Menard V12 engines, which sound similar to an F1 car. Andreu explained that the clubs will receive royalties for the brand transfer and will be able to secure new sponsorships. Flamengo's mechanics will be from the Belgian team Astromega:
- If the Flamengo driver is a fan, all the better. There's no sport without passion and stars.
The league will kick off on August 31 in Donington, England. It will be followed by the Nurburgring, Germany (September 21); Zolder, Austria (October 5); a circuit in Italy (October 19); Estoril, Portugal (November 2); and Jerez, Spain (November 23).
"In 2009, we want to race in Jacarepaguá, with Flamengo and Corinthians. It would be incredible!" imagines Andreu, who is negotiating with Benfica, Barcelona, Real Madrid, River Plate, Boca Juniors, clubs from Mexico, the US, and others.
Joel hides but should put Maxi in Toró's place
The Argentine's lineup, with Renato Augusto in the middle, has not been confirmed by the Flamengo coach, who is in high spirits.
JOEL TALKS to Souza before the training session at Ninho do Urubu, the last one before the game against Atlético-PR
Márcio Tavares
From the chilly Granja Comary in Teresópolis, where he trained for three days, to the hot Ninho do Urubu in Vargem Grande, where he led the final training session yesterday for the match against Atlético-PR, coach Joel Santana decided on the ideal replacement for Toró, who was suspended for a yellow card. He found it and quickly hid it, according to him so as not to give any clues to his predecessor Ney Franco, who knows Flamengo well.
But since Joel's enigmas almost always clash with the clarity of his actions, it's almost certain that he'll line up tomorrow at Maracanã with Renato Augusto setting up the play and Maxi up front, alongside Souza. Until then, Joel will be evading the situation.
"The professional on the other side knows Flamengo well. I've already got Toró's replacement in mind, but I won't reveal it. This is a game of chess. The best strategy is to say as little as possible."
Club begins fight to buy Bruno's rights
Unaware of the enigma, Renato Augusto faces the situation with a certain indifference. For him, there's only one certainty:
- Joel hasn't revealed anything to anyone. The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm going to play.
Despite the importance of the match, which could guarantee Flamengo a spot in the Libertadores, Joel is having a special moment, which is helping him manage his tension. Returning to the top of the list of the best Brazilian coaches has affected his mood:
- I'm in a very happy place in my life. They said I was outdated, that I wouldn't win anything anymore, and being among the best again is already a thrill.
But, knowing well the cruel side of football, the frustration of the masses, Joel issues a realistic and sincere warning.
"Everything's fine. I just think a bad result can't destroy our campaign," Joel said.
And, thinking about a good campaign in 2008, Flamengo attacked one of its priorities: the board authorized businessman Eduardo Uram to negotiate the permanence of goalkeeper Bruno with the group of investors led by Israeli Pini Zahavi, who invested two million euros in signing Bruno.
"It's possible they'll put something on top of that amount, but we're already working to keep Bruno. I had a meeting with finance vice president José Carlos Dias the other day, and we have a good plan for 2008. Flamengo could dream up some bold plans," said Kleber Leite, vice president of football.
The mood of optimism amid this encouraging end to the Brazilian Championship was only lacking yesterday because the selection of São Paulo native Wilson Seneme to referee tomorrow is a cause for concern. In 11 games under his command, there are five losses, four wins, and two draws.
- We're on tenterhooks - warned manager Isaías Tinoco.
Yesterday, four ticket scalpers were arrested near the Maracanã stadium selling tickets for the game. Those arrested will face charges under the Consumer Protection Law for crimes against the popular economy.
Day to cheer against Grêmio
NATAL. Flamengo fans are back cheering today to "dry out" the red-and-black team's opponents in the fight to reach the Copa Libertadores. The first mission is difficult: root for last-place América-RN to beat Grêmio, with 54 points, in Natal, but behind closed doors. The Rio Grande do Sul team, currently in seventh place with 54 points, needs to win its last two matches and hope for other teams to stumble to finish in the top four of the Brazilian Championship. In the final round, Grêmio hosts Corinthians.
In its favor, the current Libertadores runner-up has the opponent's poor home record. América-RN has won only two games (3-2 against Paraná and 2-1 against Atlético-PR). Tomorrow, three more games involve teams that compete with Flamengo. The one that interests Flamengo the most is Sport vs. Cruzeiro. If the Minas Gerais team loses, Flamengo will qualify with a win over Atlético-PR. The others are Inter vs. Palmeiras and Paraná vs. Santos.
FLA-FLU BASKETBALL
Qualified for the State Basketball Championship semifinals, Flamengo and Fluminense face off today at 17 p.m. in Tijuca. In the first half, Flamengo won 91-86. In fourth place, Fluminense ends its participation in the qualifying round and can no longer be overtaken. Flamengo has three games remaining, including today's match.

Tomorrow, at Maracanã, in the match between Flamengo and Atlético do Paraná, a group of young women will enter the field alongside the players with banners calling for an end to violence against women.
The date, November 24, coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
There are so many emotions
Do you know who owns the company DC Set, the one that caused the mess of exchanging Nestlé milk cans for Flamengo game tickets?
It's Dodi Sirena, also known as King Roberto Carlos' manager
Sports Journal
Public Ministry also enters the fight
The Rio Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an inquiry into the exchange of tickets for the match between Flamengo and Atlético-PR.
One of the articles of the Fan Statute states that there must be agility and broad access to information in the ticket sales process. And since this apparently didn't happen, there's a possibility of Fla being punished, as the club is the home team. Nestlé will also be included in the lawsuit. If they lose, both will have to pay compensation to the fans who feel harmed.
Processes
Fans who were unable to exchange their can of milk for a ticket will have access to the bus from the Consumer Defense Commission of Alerj at the entrance to Maracanã, on Sunday, between 12 pm and 19 pm, which will help them seek their rights in court.
According to Congresswoman Cidinha Campos, Nestlé advertised that anyone who bought a can of milk would receive a ticket to the game. Since this didn't happen, it was false advertising.
To claim their rights, fans will need proof of purchase of the product.
Police case in the 'decision'

Hundreds of fans were unable to get tickets for the game, so they turned to scalpers.
The game between Flamengo and Atlético Paranaense this Sunday, for the 37th round of the Brazilian Championship, is a real decision for Flamengo fans and that's why the great red-black nation mobilized to break another attendance record in this Brasileirão.
But what was supposed to be another beautiful party ended up becoming a huge drama for millions of fans, who were unable to get tickets due to the actions of scalpers and the confusion caused by Nestlé's now famous promotion.
Tickets for the match have been sold out since last Wednesday and for fans, only those tickets remain, which are being resold at much higher prices.
To prevent fans from continuing to be harmed, Major Marcelo Pessoa, from GEPE, ordered an operation yesterday afternoon around Maracanã to inhibit the action of ticket scalpers.
Seven people were arrested, but only four were charged, as they were carrying tickets and cash. The other three simply gave statements and were released. Among the ticket scalpers was a firefighter. Thirty-eight tickets were seized, including 38 from the Nestlé promotion, which were not eligible for sale, and three blue chairs. They also had R$35 in cash. The tickets were being sold for up to R$5.537.
"The number of money changers around Maracanã is absurd, that's why I ordered this search," said Major Marcelo Pessoa, who recalled the law that punishes crimes against the popular economy.
The operation was carried out by the riot squad between 14:15 PM and 30:18 PM yesterday afternoon. Searches took place around Maracanã Stadium, with ticket vendors selling tickets between gate 18 and the ramp to the State University of Rio de Janeiro. They testified at the XNUMXth Police Department.
Maxi comes out ahead for the spot
Joel Santana surprises and should put the Argentine in place of the suspended Toró, Sunday

Maxi, who was on the bench, should partner Souza in attack.
Even after three months in charge of Flamengo, it's still difficult to understand what's going on in the mysterious mind of coach Joel Santana. Yesterday, the coach raised yet another question by fielding a starting lineup he had only practiced earlier in the week.
Argentine striker Maxi Biancucchi, who had trained with the reserves on Wednesday and Thursday, ended up getting a starting spot. Cautiously, Joel didn't want to predict the lineup.
"The team is practically ready, the only doubt I have is that it's precisely in Toró's position; the other ten are confirmed. It just depends on how they come into the game, because then I'll decide whether to start with a striker (Maxi) or a midfielder (Léo Medeiros). It's our decision, and we can't give the opponent weapons. I'm not hiding the game, but I also don't want to give any clues," Joel admitted.
And while for the coach, the mystery is still looming over this decision that could secure Flamengo's place in the Libertadores, for the players, it's not a problem. Amidst this decision, Maxi knows there's no point in despairing at this point.
"I have to do my job and be ready whenever Joel needs me. This doubt doesn't bother me, because I know that's how football works, especially for a club as big as Flamengo. I need to work hard to deliver if the opportunity arises," the striker explained.
Decisive collective
The key to settling this issue once and for all may lie in the starting lineup's performance yesterday. While Maxi and Jaílton were in the lineup, the 2-0 victory saw Juan and Souza score easily. Joel then pulled both players to bring on Obina and Roger, respectively, resulting in a sharp drop in performance. Now the decision rests with Joel.
Controversy over goalkeeper Bruno continues
The non-nomination of goalkeeper Bruno to compete for the award for the three best goalkeepers in the Brazilian Championship, being overlooked by Rogério Ceni, Diego Cavalieri and Felipe, continues to cause controversy at Flamengo.
As he had not given interviews on Thursday, coach Joel Santana spoke about the matter yesterday.
"Not everything in life is fair. I spoke with Bruno in Teresópolis and asked him not to be upset, as he's already a good player by nature. Based on his championship performance, he deserved the nomination. But beyond that, he's changed; he's a different man, has a different attitude, and is happier. He may not be among the top three in the election, but for Flamengo, he was essential in their promotion," the coach praised.
Flamengo turbocharged
Flamengo's Superleague Formula car will be unveiled today at 9:30 a.m. in the trophy room at the Gávea headquarters. Three players from the professional squad will be present: Toró, Kleberson, and Rômulo, who will be unable to face Atlético-PR due to suspension (the first two) and injury. The rest of the squad will be in training for the match.

One of Petrópolis' standout players, winger Mancha will be one of the attractions in the State semifinals
Petrópolis will be Flamengo's opponent in the semifinals of the State Futsal Championship. The first match will be on Tuesday at 18:30 p.m., likely at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium in Gávea. Yesterday, the Petropolis team defeated América 2-1 in Serra, securing their sixth consecutive semifinal spot in the competition.
Petrópolis scored goals from Regis and Felipe, with Fabinho pulling one back for América. The current two-time champions, the team from the mountains, have proven their mettle and are having a strong run in the State Championship, emerging as favorites to win the title. But defender Régis expects a tough time in the semifinals:
"It was a very difficult game against América. We started out very focused, and that's why we got the result. I believe the matches against Flamengo will be very even, because they have a lot of quality players. A draw away from home would be a good result in the first leg of the semifinal."
In the first leg, Petrópolis had led América 1-0 and could have even tied. However, they pushed hard and scored to avoid any surprises. América even used the trick of a goalkeeper, scoring their consolation goal, but it wasn't enough to change the course of the match.

Another classic will be held in the State Basketball Championship. Flamengo and Fluminense face off today at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium at 17 p.m. Both teams are coming off strong wins, adding more excitement to the big classic of the qualifying stage. In the last match, the red-and-black team defeated rival Vasco by just one point (81-80), taking the lead in the competition. Despite qualifying for the semifinal playoffs, the team promises a strong performance.
"It will be another tough game, like every classic, every Fla-Flu match. Fluminense is a well-balanced team and will be complete, with tall, strong pivots. I want to call on both the red-and-black and tricolor fans to go to Tijuca, celebrating peacefully, pushing each other," said the red-and-black winger Marcelinho.
Fluminense, fourth in the standings, is coming off a surprising victory against Nova Iguaçu, achieving a 121-point lead (21 to XNUMX). The team has already secured its qualification, as it cannot be overtaken by its opponents even with a loss. But the team should enter the court seeking victory, despite the challenges they face.
"Fla-Flu is always exciting. I've played for Flamengo and I know that to beat them you need a compact defense, a high-tempo game, and the support of our fans. I hope the Tricolor fans turn out in droves to support us," said Flamengo center Mãozão.
In today's other match, Volta Redonda will host Iguaçu at 18 pm.

Vasco defeats Club Municipal
Vasco hosted Municipal yesterday for the State Championship round. The home team enjoyed a large turnout from the fans at São Januário.
"The team felt the absence of some players who were rested, and in addition to feeling the fatigue and lack of rhythm of those returning from injury, they also played well," said Vasco player Ratto.
The Vasco team started off by making a lot of mistakes, giving Municipal the chance to open up a good lead in the first quarter (16 to 24), indicating that it would not be an easy game.
In the second quarter, the Cruzmaltino players managed to tighten their defense and thus better mount counterattacks (41-40). In the third quarter, the home team felt a bit tired, again making defensive mistakes. But in the final half, the team, pushed by the fans, managed to open up a lead.

Flamengo: Renato asks fans to calm down
Aware of the fans' passion, the midfielder says patience is needed if the goal doesn't come early on.
Rio - The same fans who applaud and go crazy for the love of their team also know how to boo. Young Renato Augusto has already learned this lesson and is therefore urging calm in this crucial moment for the team, which faces Atlético-PR tomorrow at the Maracanã stadium, fighting for a spot in the Copa Libertadores.
This year, the supporter, like the team itself, was cheered and booed, and as he has sat in the stands, he knows well how the demanding red-and-black fan behaves.
During the match against Santos, he burst into tears, overwhelmed by the beautiful celebrations thrown by the fans. Knowing that tomorrow the Maracanã will be packed with over 80 people, he does his best to contain his own anxiety.
"The time has come to cement our great moment. I know the fans, like us, are anxious. But I ask for patience if the goal doesn't come soon. We've won games by scoring late, when we were being booed," he recalls.
Renato Augusto's concern makes sense. He understands that the club's raucous supporters make a difference both for and against the team itself.
"Ney Franco, who manages Atlético-PR, knows well the strength of our fans, and also their demands. Of course, he knows that Maracanã will be packed, and that this can make a difference for both sides depending on the moment of the game. Therefore, we have to kill the game early to avoid leaving our fans anxious."
Striker Souza is also anxious. Long before stepping onto the field, he admits he already feels butterflies in his stomach. If it's up to him, the goal will come as quickly as possible. "I hope I have the same luck I had against Santos," says Souza.
FOR JOEL, VICTORY IS A MATTER OF HONOR
The sacrifice of the red-and-black fans, who slept in line to secure their tickets for tomorrow's game, and the frustration of those who, despite their efforts, will miss out on the festivities, touched the heart of coach Joel Santana. Thinking of each of the 35 million people who make up the Red-and-Black Nation, the coach demands victory tomorrow. The presence of over 3 fans in the stadium is the fuel that keeps his optimism high.
Furthermore, he doesn't hide his pride in being a finalist in the election to choose the country's best coach, an award offered by the CBF. Yesterday, he was once again grateful for the "honor."
"Until recently, there were those who thought I was an outdated coach. We worked hard, had the support of the huge fan base, and were rewarded. This club is a national passion, and the fans are confident because they know they can believe in the team. The fans have high self-esteem. They wear the club's jersey and display its flag in the window with great pride and love," says Joel.
Once again, the coach will confirm his starting lineup moments before the game. Yesterday, he tested Roger and Obina again, but is expected to choose Léo Medeiros to replace the suspended Toró. "The team is on my mind," he concluded.
The best in the world receives tribute
The Secretary of Tourism, Sports and Leisure, Eduardo Paes, will pay tribute to the fans who won the Brazilian Championship and the Flamengo team – the first five-time national champion – tomorrow, in the team's last match in 1 at Maracanã.
Flamengo will receive a trophy made of metal, with a polyester base, painted with automotive paint, measuring 53 cm tall, and featuring the colors of the red and black team. On behalf of the people of Rio de Janeiro, the State Government will be honoring the title, which has already become a part of the hearts of the carioca community.
For the first time, the winning fans will also be awarded. The trophy will go to Flamengo, which broke all Brasileirão attendance records at Maracanã. The trophy will be presented annually to the winning fans at Maracanã. In 2007, the "Nação" launched the most-sung anthem in stadiums, and the team reciprocated on the field, as it is still fighting for a spot in the Copa Libertadores.
For all this, the club will also be honored by a distinguished fan with a 56-cm-tall sculpture made of polished stainless steel. He prefers to remain anonymous until the unveiling.
The gift will be on permanent display at the headquarters of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, in Gávea, along with the club's other trophies, and with free access for fans.
The trophies were made by the artist Holoassy Lins de Albuquerque, who since 1993 has been responsible for awarding prizes for the Brazilian Football Confederation.
Tomorrow's party will also feature a video showing unforgettable images of Maracanã this year, many of them captured during the Brazilian Championship, Pan American Games and the Brazilian national team.
High speed at Maracanã
Rio - The 82.044 fans who purchased tickets for tomorrow's match between Flamengo and Atlético-PR will have the privilege of seeing the red, black, and white V12, the Mengão car that will be displayed at the Maracanã before the game. But Flamengo members don't have to wait until tomorrow. The vehicle will be officially unveiled this morning in the Trophy Room in Gávea, with some players and representatives of the Flamengo board in attendance.
The car will represent Flamengo in the 2008 Formula Superliga season, which will feature a competition between the world's top soccer clubs. The category's president, Alex Andreu, was impressed by the passion of the Flamengo fans in the recent Brazilian Championship matches.
"The passion people across the country have for Flamengo is truly incredible. Formula Superliga will certainly have the highest viewership in its history on Sunday," says Andreu.
Flamengo joins European clubs such as Milan, PSV, Olympiacos, Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Anderlecht, Basel and Galatasaray in the new category.
The World Championship will begin in August next year, and the Formula Superleague will be held on the tracks of Donington Park (United Kingdom), on August 29/30; Nurburgring (Germany), on September 20/21; Zolder (Belgium), on October 4/5; Italy – location to be confirmed by the organizers, on October 18/19; Estoril (Portugal), on November 1/2; and Jerez (Spain), on November 22/23.
Joel puts Jaílton and Maxi among the starters
Rio - Coach Joel Santana made another observation regarding Flamengo's lineup for the match on the 25th against Atlético Paranaense at Maracanã. This Friday, the Flamengo manager kept Jaílton in midfield and put Argentine Maxi up front. He then moved Renato Augusto back to a supporting role.
Then, in the final stage of training, the coach took off Jaílton and Maxi and brought in Obina and Roger. In the training camp, the starting lineup consisted of: Bruno, Léo Moura, Fábio Luciano, Ronaldo Angelim, and Juan; Jaílton (Roger), Cristian, Ibson, Renato Augusto; Maxi (Obina), and Souza.

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - After Friday afternoon's training session at the Vargem Grande training center, coach Joel Santana didn't dispel the Flamengo mystery. The coach continues to keep a secret who will replace suspended Toró in this Sunday's match against Atlético-PR at Maracanã. "We don't know yet how they'll approach us. Football is a puzzle, and it doesn't hurt to keep things a little longer," said the Flamengo coach.
Léo Medeiros is the favorite to take the spot, but Argentine Maximiliano Biancucchi was also tested this Friday. Should he surprise and choose the latter, Renato Augusto would be dropped back to play in midfield.
Flamengo presents car before game with Atlético-PR\ Gazeta Press\
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Even with Flamengo's strong run in the Brazilian Championship, soccer will be on the back burner this Saturday morning in Gávea. The Rubro-Negro will host an event to unveil the Flamengo car, which will compete in the 2008 Superleague Formula. On Sunday, the car will be on display at the Maracanã stadium before the match against Atlético-PR. "The passion for Flamengo here is simply incredible. Their soccer team has shown true fighting spirit this season, and it will be a huge thrill for us to present the car to the spectators," said Alex Andreu, president of the Superleague Formula, which is scheduled to debut in August 2008 and will feature single-seaters equipped with V12 engines and 750 horsepower on the grid. The cars will be painted in the colors of the participating clubs.
In addition to Flamengo, 20 other clubs from around the world will be represented in the Superleague, including Milan, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, Olympiacos, Galatasaray, Borussia Dortmund, RSC Anderlecht and FC Basel. The calendar features the following events: Donington Park (United Kingdom), on August 29-30; Nürburgring (Germany), on September 20-21; Zolder (Belgium), on October 4-5; Italy – location to be confirmed, on October 18-19; Estoril (Portugal), on November 1-2; and Jerez (Spain), on November 22-23.
Concerned about not distracting the Flamengo squad from Sunday's match against Atlético-PR, vice-president of football, Kléber Leite, vetoed the presence of any regular players at the presentation of the new car.
Léo Medeiros awaits opportunity at Fla\ Gazeta Press\
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Favorite to replace Toró in the match against Atlético-PR this Sunday, in the penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship, midfielder Léo Medeiros is trying to appear calm about the possibility of receiving another opportunity as a starter for Flamengo. The player prefers to transfer the responsibility to coach Joel Santana, but guarantees he is ready to play in the match that could put the Rio de Janeiro club close to a spot in the 2008 Copa Libertadores. "Regardless of who he chooses, everyone is ready to step in and get the job done," confirmed Léo, who thanked Joel for the chances he has been given. "I'm happy for the recognition and I've taken advantage of every opportunity Joel has given me," he added in an interview with Rádio Brasil.
On Sunday, Léo Medeiros will have the opportunity to reunite with coach Ney Franco, with whom he worked at Ipatinga-MG and Flamengo. The player isn't afraid of the duel with the current manager of the Hurricane. "He's a coach I know well and with whom I had the pleasure of working. But now we're all on our own, and I hope, with the support of over 80 people, to get the better of him on Sunday," said Léo, who, despite having worked with Ney at Ipatinga, was hired by Flamengo at the request of then-head coach Waldemar Lemos.
With his federation rights still tied to Ipatinga-MG, Léo Medeiros has made no secret of his intention to remain at Flamengo, despite having spent much of the season on the bench. However, negotiations for a renewal have not yet begun. "So far, there haven't been any discussions, especially because we don't want to lose focus on seeking a spot in the next Libertadores. But I'm definitely interested in staying, and hopefully after the Brazilian Championship," he revealed.
While Léo Medeiros is in no rush to begin negotiations for his contract renewal, Flamengo's board is showing a different concern with goalkeeper Bruno. Keen to avoid the problems they faced midway through this year, when the player's contract expired, Vice President of Football Kléber Leite has already initiated initial negotiations to keep Bruno at Gávea for the first half of 2008.
Meanwhile, this Friday, the red-and-black squad returned from Teresópolis, where they had been training since last Tuesday. The goal was to escape the euphoria of the fans at Gávea Stadium. Léo Medeiros approved of the retreat in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. "We ate better, spent more time together, and I'm sure this week here will be crucial for us to reach Maracanã on Sunday and achieve victory."
In addition to the possibility of qualifying for the 2008 Libertadores, Flamengo's players have gained new motivation to seek positive results in the final two rounds of the Brazilian Championship. The board announced that the squad will share a R$500 prize if the team finishes in second place. The amount drops to R$400 if the Rubro-Negro finishes third and R$300 if the team finishes fourth.
Preseason - Even without knowing yet whether it will compete in next year's Copa Libertadores, Flamengo already has its plans for the beginning of 2008. The club announced that the red-and-black squad will hold its preseason at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis, starting on January 4th, two days after the squad's return. Flamengo debuts in the Campeonato Carioca on January 20th, when it faces Boavista at Maracanã. The team is expected to return from Serra the day before this match.

Renato Augusto asks Flamengo fans for patience on Sunday
Raphael Raposo\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Without a doubt, the approximately 90 in attendance, who promise to cheer Flamengo against Atlético-PR, will be crucial for the Red-Blacks to qualify for the Copa Libertadores. However, in the opinion of midfielder Renato Augusto, the fans will need patience if the team doesn't score early in Sunday's match at 18:10 pm (Brasília time), in the 37th and penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship.
"I ask for a lot of calm and caution from everyone. It will be a difficult game against a qualified opponent. The strength of the stands is essential, but if the fans maintain the same attitude as in the other matches we've had at Maracanã," he said.
After praising the gesture of the red-black fans in previous matches, the supporter took the opportunity to recall the fact that Flamengo's rise in the national competition surprised many.
"A great example of this happened in relation to the fans themselves. When we played away from home against Santos and Internacional, we could hear the chants of second division from the stands. Now, we're competing for something much bigger," he highlighted, recalling the fact that the team from Gávea is in third place, with 58 points.
Although there are still two rounds left in the Brazilian Championship, Renato Augusto believes that Flamengo will decide its fate against Atlético-PR.
"Of course we still have the match against Náutico (on December 2nd, at Aflitos), but the decision for us will be in Sunday's match", concluded the supporter.
Souza dreams of scoring the goal that will help Flamengo qualify for the Libertadores
Raphael Raposo\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Despite the small number of goals scored by Flamengo in this Brazilian Championship (six), Souza does not hide that he already dreams of seeing the red-black fans celebrate qualifying for the Copa Libertadores with one of his achievements.
The striker intends to show the same opportunism as Flamengo's victory over Santos (1-0), in the clash against Atlético-PR, Sunday, at 18:10 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in the 37th and penultimate round of the competition.
"Of course I've been dreaming about this goal, but the important thing is Flamengo's victory. We're fighting hard to reach the Libertadores and the goal is close," he said.
The Gávea team will have an old acquaintance leading the rival team.\ Despite this, Souza doesn't believe the opponent will have an advantage by having Ney Franco on the bench. The number 9 revealed his appreciation for the "enemy" manager.\
"I really like Ney and he helped me a lot at Flamengo. He's a calm guy who likes to talk to the players. I'm rooting for his success, but after Sunday's match," he concluded.

Despite numerous accomplishments throughout the week, Joel Santana has only one doubt for the match against Atlético-PR, on Sunday, at 18:10 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the 37th and penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship. Striker Maxi Biancucchi and midfielder Léo Medeiros are competing for Toró's spot, who is suspended.
Joel has not yet decided on a replacement for midfielder Toró, who is suspended due to a card.
"I won't make any major changes. The only one will be that one of these two will take Toró's place. I've tested countless formations and options to change the team if I think it's necessary," he said.
A self-confessed football fan, Joel Santana made no secret of the fact that he has been anxiously awaiting the lineup that Ney Franco, Atlético-PR's coach, will use in the match.
"It's like a game of chess. You have to know how to use the right pieces. I have information that Ney will use a midfielder on the wing, we have to analyze that," he said, referring to the possibility of Alan Bahia occupying the right wing of the field.
The red-and-black manager also revealed the spirit he expects from his players. "I expect a lot of dedication and determination. By doing this, we'll hardly lose. Especially with the support of this wonderful team," he emphasized.
Elected as one of the three candidates for best coach in the Brazilian Championship (the others are Caio Júnior, from Palmeiras, and Muricy Ramalho, from São Paulo), Joel Santana did not forget to thank those who voted in his name for the award.
"I'm happy to be nominated, because for some time now, people have been saying that Joel was old-fashioned and wasn't improving. I proved them wrong," he concluded.
São Paulo trio for game against Atlético-PR displeases Flamengo
From UOL Esporte\ In Rio de Janeiro\
The CBF drew lots on Thursday to select the referees for the 37th and penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship. Wilson Luiz Semene (FIFA-SP) was chosen for Flamengo's match against Atlético-PR this Sunday at 18:10 p.m. (Brasília time) at the Maracanã stadium, assisted by Ednilson Corona (FIFA-SP) and Emerson Augusto de Carvalho (SP).
This situation has angered Flamengo's club leaders. They claim that Santos and Palmeiras, both from São Paulo, are in direct competition with Flamengo for a spot in the next Copa Libertadores.
Rubro-Negro is third in the Brazilian Championship with 58 points. Santos is second with 59, while Palmeiras is fourth with 58. Cruzeiro is fifth with 57.
In this 37th round, Palmeiras faces Internacional, Sunday, at 16 pm (Brasília time), at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre. On the same day, but at 18:10 pm (Brasília time), Santos takes on Paraná Clube, at Dorival de Britto, in Curitiba.

Fla has a trophy to receive on Sunday
State Government orders trophy to honor fifth Brazilian championship
Marcio Iannacca and Eduardo Peixoto
While São Paulo will take to the field on Sunday wearing a shirt that reads "unique fifth title," Flamengo will also have a reference to its five Brazilian titles at the Maracanã. The Rio de Janeiro State Government commissioned artist Holoassy Lins de Albuquerque to create a trophy, the base of which will bear the phrase: "Brazil's first fifth title."
The trophy with red and black details will be presented to the team. The other will go to the Mengão fans.
The presentation will be made by Suderj president Eduardo Paes before the match against Atlético-PR. This is one more reason for fans to cheer at Maracanã. The trophy is 53 cm tall, made of metal with a polyester base, and features predominantly black and red colors. GLOBOESPORTE.COM obtained a photo of the sculpture that will be presented to Flamengo.
- The commemorative sculpture I created conveys in its simple forms the vigor of solidity firmly supported by the earth; reaching for the heights, renewing and strengthening itself in the curves it makes, gaining strength to ascend towards grandeur - explains Holoassy.
Flamengo fans will also receive a sculpture from Suderj as a tribute to their performance this year. During the club's last game, the stadium's scoreboard announced: "Nação rubro-negra, acampeã do Brasileirão 2007."
One step away from the spot, Fla meets Ney again
Rio fans fill Maracanã stadium and could win a spot in the Copa Libertadores as a gift
On July 29, Ney Franco was fired from Flamengo, leaving a team in shambles and desperately struggling in the Brazilian Championship. Nearly four months later, the coach, now at Atlético-PR, will face his former club again this Sunday at Maracanã Stadium at 18:10 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Premiere and SporTV (except for Rio), as well as live coverage on GLOBOESPORTE.COM (watch the video below for highlights of the first-round match).
But that fragile, inconsistent team, reviled by fans and the media, is no more. Flamengo has grown, become stronger, and is currently third in the standings with 58 points. A victory against the Paraná team could even secure them a spot in the Copa Libertadores. For that to happen, Cruzeiro simply needs to lose to Sport at Ilha do Retiro.
The fans' pursuit of Neymar during the final stages of his time at Gávea turned into devotion to his replacement. Joel Santana and the players managed to draw crowds to the Maracanã stadium during these three months of meteoric rise.
Sunday will be no different. The 82.044 tickets—a new Brasileirão record—are sold out after much chaos. To watch the game, fans spent sleepless nights in line and battled pepper spray and disorganization when exchanging tickets for food.
"The fans have been on our side for a while now. Ever since the game against Náutico, when we were second to last, they embraced us and carried us. Everything that's happening now started way back then," says Joel Santana.
Ney Franco left Gávea fired and now faces his former team
Now on the other side, Ney Franco will not only be able to admire the fans who once supported him, but also turn the planned celebration into frustration. A draw or loss to Atlético-PR could significantly complicate Flamengo's position in the standings.
The Paraná team is, in a sense, playing catch-up. With 51 points, they have no chance of reaching the Copa Libertadores, but they've practically guaranteed a spot in the Copa Sudamericana. Perhaps their role is actually that of a spoilsport.
"We're going for the three points, and the biggest responsibility is theirs. We'll try to counterattack, and Maracanã offers space for that," warns left-back Michel.
Toró is the default
Flamengo spent three days this week in isolation in Teresópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio. The period served to keep the players away from the fan hoopla and focus solely on the "final sprint" that could secure a spot in the Copa Libertadores.
Coach Joel Santana's only absence will be midfielder Toró. He received his third yellow card and is expected to be replaced by Maxi or Leo Medeiros. If the Argentine is chosen, Renato Augusto will be dropped back to midfield.
"I'll only be missing one player's lineup. It's a game of chess, and I'd rather wait to see how the opponent will play before announcing it," says the red-and-black coach.
Loaned by Atlético-PR to Flamengo, Cristian could only play if the Rio de Janeiro club paid R$100. However, the boards reached an agreement and the player was released without any charges.
Offensive hurricane
Even playing at the Maracanã against a massive Flamengo crowd, coach Ney Franco is expected to opt for a more attacking formation for this Sunday's match. Midfielder Ferreira returns from the Colombian national team and is expected to form the attacking trio with Alex Mineiro and Marcelo Ramos. However, if the Furacão coach decides to field the team in the traditional 3-5-2 formation and abandon the 4-4-2, Marcelo Ramos is expected to be benched. In this case, Alex Mineiro and Ferreira would form the attacking duo. Marcelo Ramos believes there is room for all three on the team.
"Ferreira is having a great time, and I believe the three of us can play together. It would also be great to play with Alex again because he's a player I already know (from Cruzeiro in 1997), we understand each other very well, and we have a good rapport both on and off the field," says Ramos.
Fla admits: losing the spot would be tragic
Renato Augusto says that if the team fails in the final stretch, it will have a 'very bad taste'
Eduardo Peixoto
Flamengo's second-half surge is all anyone can talk about. From 19th place, the team has moved up to third. Well, then. With two rounds remaining in the Brazilian Championship, a potential failure in the fight for the Copa Libertadores is viewed with concern by the players.
Supporter Renato Augusto admits he's nervous. He believes that after coming so close to their goal, the Red-Blacks can't afford to let up.
"Everyone gets a little tense. We have the candy in our mouths, and if it disappears, it won't be good. It will leave a very bad taste," he declares.
For striker Souza, qualification must come this Sunday.
"I'm really excited. It's going to be a tough game, but I want to secure a spot against Atlético-PR right away. I'm not leaving it until the last round."
Despite believing in qualification, coach Joel Santana does not want a witch hunt if the objective is not achieved.
- No one can destroy everything we've achieved because of one game. But I'm optimistic. With 80 people supporting us, it couldn't be any different.
Renato Augusto asks fans to remain calm
Supporter remembers that the game lasts 90 minutes and a goal can only come in the final part
Eduardo Peixoto
Renato Augusto says Flamengo fans should support the entire 90 minutes
More than 82 people will be at Maracanã on Sunday, hoping for Flamengo's victory over Atlético-PR. However, if the goal takes a while to come, the applause and cheers could easily turn to impatience and boos.
Renato Augusto knows this and is therefore urging the red-and-blacks to remain calm. He points out, for example, that the decisive goals in the victories over Corinthians and Santos came late in the match.
"It's a 90-minute game. How many times have we won with a late goal? That's why it's important for fans to remain calm and collected. I'm asking for encouragement the entire time," the player declared.
Flamengo is third in the table with 58 points. If they win and Cruzeiro loses to Sport in Recife, their spot in the Copa Libertadores will be guaranteed.
Fla x Flu: classic in the return of the State Championship
Urubu bets on Marcelinho and seeks victory to remain at the top of the competition
Marcelinho: the winger is Rubro-Negro's weapon for this Saturday's classic against Flu
To remain top of the 2007 State Championship, Flamengo will face another major rival. After beating Vasco last Wednesday, Flamengo will face Fluminense this Saturday at 17 p.m. The match will take place at the Álvaro Vieira Lima Gymnasium, home of the Tijuca Tennis Club.
For the match, which is the penultimate round of the second half of the season, Flamengo is banking on the talent of winger Marcelinho to secure victory. The star player acknowledges the challenges he faces against the Tricolor, who are buoyed by their crushing victory over Iguaçu.
"It's another tough game, like every classic, like every Fla-Flu match. And it's an important match in terms of qualification; a win puts us in a very good position in this final stretch of the first phase. Fluminense is a well-balanced team, complete in this second half, and has a very deep and strong frontcourt."
Marcelinho took the opportunity to make a call to the fans of both teams.
- I want to call on the red-black and tricolor fans to go to Tijuca, celebrating, in peace, cheering on their teams and watching a great game - comments the winger.
In the first round clash, Flamengo beat Fluminense 91 to 86.
Kléber confirms Cristian in 2008
Fla will buy the player's federation rights from Atlético-PR by the end of the month
Eduardo Peixoto
Cristian's contract is almost finalized for next year
Flamengo's strategy of maintaining the backbone of its squad continues to pay off. After renewing its contract with defender Fábio Luciano, the board confirmed that it will finalize the purchase of Cristian's federation rights by the end of the month.
Rubro-Negro has until the 30th to pay Atlético-PR the US$500. The club's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, considers the issue resolved.
"He's doing very well here and will stay with us. The matter is settled," he says.
About two weeks ago, Cristian's agent, Josias Cardoso, assured him that the player would stay at Flamengo for another three seasons. Everything has been in order between the club and the player since July.
With Cristian and Fábio Luciano remaining, Bruno is the only player in the starting lineup whose contract expires at the end of this year. According to Kléber Leite, the matter is well underway, but it should only be resolved after the end of the Brazilian Championship.
Board vetoes cast at car party
Only Kléberson, Toró and Rômulo will participate in the event this Saturday, in Gávea
Eduardo Peixoto From GLOBOESPORTE.COM, in Rio de Janeiro
The car is already in the trophy room for this Saturday's event in Gávea
Flamengo fled the hoopla all week and took refuge in Teresópolis. Because of this concern for the euphoria, the announcement that the entire professional squad would be participating in the Formula Superliga car launch party this Saturday morning in Gávea was a bit of a surprise.
Fla's vice-president of football, Kléber Leite, was concerned about the negative repercussions of the squad's possible participation in the party and determined that the players concentrated for the game against Atlético-PR would be out of the event.
Therefore, Toró, who is suspended, Rômulo, who is injured, and Kléberson, who only plays in 2008, are the only ones allowed to attend. Coach Joel Santana will also appear at the car launch.
The event takes place in the Rubro-Negro trophy room. Formula Superleague is the new category in global motorsports. The teams represent 20 soccer clubs, including Milan, Galatasaray, Porto, and others.
F-Superliga: Flamengo fans cheer on the boss
The car will be presented to the fans on Sunday, in the match against Atlético Paranaense
The car arrived in the arms up to the third floor of the headquarters in Rio de Janeiro
The suspense is over. Urublog, the Flamengo fan blog, brings you firsthand the images of the car that will represent Flamengo in the 2008 Formula Superliga season, taken in the club's trophy room. This Thursday, the single-seater raced past some of Rio de Janeiro's tourist attractions and was photographed with part of its paintwork on display. Alex Andreu, president of the category, was impressed by the passion of the Rubro-Negra fans.
"95.000 fans will certainly result in the biggest audience yet for Formula Superleague"
Andreu presents the car in Gávea
- We took some pictures of the car in some famous places in Rio this morning (Thursday) and were surprised by the interest of racing fans - he says, who seems to be aware of the good moment that Flamengo is experiencing, which has been filling the Maracanã in the fight for one of the four spots for the 2008 Libertadores Cup.
- The passion for Flamengo here is simply incredible. Their football team has shown true fighting spirit this season, and their goal is to win at Maracanã on Sunday night.
And Sunday night will also be a special day for the Formula Superliga. After the official unveiling on Saturday, the car will be presented to the fans at Flamengo's match against Atlético Paranaense, the last Brazilian Championship match in Rio, which has already sold out.
- For us, it will be a huge thrill to present the car to the spectators, 95.000 fans will certainly result in the largest audience to date for the Formula Superleague.

No ball cup on Sunday
President Juvenal Juvêncio warns that the CBF will only present the trophy at a ceremony
Carlos Augusto Ferrari From GLOBOESPORTE.COM, in São Paulo
The Trophy Cup continues to generate controversy between São Paulo and Flamengo. The controversy surrounding the Trophy Cup won't end next Sunday. The trophy, which could have been awarded to São Paulo in the match against Botafogo at Morumbi Stadium, is expected to be hoisted by captain Rogério Ceni at some ceremony organized by the CBF. President Juvenal Juvêncio believes this could happen at the Brasileirão Craque Awards on December 3 in Rio de Janeiro.
"The date hasn't been set; the CBF wants to hold a ceremony, and Rogério will only lift the trophy once that's settled. The date hasn't been decided yet, but that could happen at any moment," says the CBF director.
Regarding Flamengo's request for the trophy to be delivered to Gávea, Juvenal Juvêncio warns that there is no agreement, but, as a politician, praises the president of the Rio de Janeiro club:
"I won't hand the trophy over to Flamengo, and there's no friction between the clubs. Marcio Braga is a wonderful person, but each will fight for their own interests. I think I'll win the race, but our friendship will remain," Juvenal hopes.
The manager commented on the matter shortly before posing for the official title photo with the entire squad and coaching staff on the Morumbi pitch.
Fla leaves Granja with a return date
Flamengo will hold its pre-season in Teresópolis starting on January 4th. Eduardo Peixoto. When the Flamengo delegation leaves Teresópolis this Friday morning, it will be just a "see you later." The team's 2008 pre-season is scheduled for Granja Comary.
According to Kléber Leite, the club's vice president of football, the club received offers to train in England, France, China, Punta del Este, and Dubai. However, the club chose the city in the mountainous region of Rio.
The intention is to stay in Teresópolis from January 4th until the end of the same month, although the debut in the Campeonato Carioca, against Boavista, will take place on the 20th.

Júnior celebrates the anniversary of the Libertadores-81

Fred Gomes RIO DE JANEIRO
With a good chance of securing a spot in the next Libertadores this Sunday, Flamengo celebrates this Friday the 26th anniversary of its only victory in the competition.
The victory came after three games against Cobreloa (a 2-1 win at Maracanã, a 1-0 loss in Santiago, and a 2-0 win in Montevideo). Júnior, left-back at the time, recalled the victory to LANCENET!, highlighting the Chileans' violence, as well as the difficulties encountered along the way.
It is worth noting that, if Fla beats Atlético Paranaense on Sunday and Cruzeiro loses to Sport, the Gávea club will, mathematically, be qualified for the Libertadores.
"It was the most difficult victory of the generation: the referee, the fans, and the opponents' violence made it even more valuable. In the Santiago game, they split Adílio's eyebrow and left Lico with a cut ear," he explains.
Júnior, who holds the position of player with the most games played for Flamengo (874), made a comparison between the Interclub World Cup, won in the same year, and the Libertadores.
"At the World Cup, we had greater visibility. However, the Libertadores back then was completely different from the one played today. You not only had to face opponents, but also other adversities. Flamengo was the first to believe. In the end, after many difficulties, the Montevideo match was the icing on the cake," he concluded.
Joel has a good record against Hurricane
Coach has never lost to this Sunday's opponent as home team
Joel Santana is lucky against Atlético Paranaense
Guilherme de Paula TERESÓPOLIS
– Hurricane? Who isn't afraid of that, my friend? I'm not Superman or anything like that!
That was Joel Santana's response when asked if he was afraid of hurricanes. But if he fears this one, with the other, at least in retrospect, there's no reason to be alarmed. After all, the coach has faced Atlético-PR seven times as the home team in the Brasileirão. They've never lost.
The first victory in this situation—the same as Sunday's match—over Atlético Paranaense was during Natalino's first stint at Flamengo, in 1996. Subsequently, there were other triumphs for various clubs managed by the coach, such as Internacional and Vasco, for example. The Paraná fan base is so strong that even against Brasiliense, in 2005, the team left the field with all three points.
With this, Joel Santana has a total of two draws and five wins when he led a team at home against Furacão in the most important of national competitions. Natalino was unaware of such impressive supremacy and analyzed, with inhibited pride, the numbers collected by LANCE!.
"I think it's a coincidence. However, it's obvious that there are teams you usually beat, and for that reason, you enjoy facing them," said the red-and-black commander.
As is customary in football jargon, Joel Santana also admitted that the positive performance against Furacão will not be seen on the field on Sunday.
But, at this point in the championship, after the team's great comeback and with the imminent qualification for the Copa Libertadores, the coach revealed that the memory of his successes against Atlético Paranaense could, in some way, help in Sunday's match, at Maracanã.
"These numbers won't win the game, but you're more confident when your track record is better. Everyone is superstitious, and I'm no different," concluded one of those responsible for Flamengo's recovery in this Brasileirão, who also demonstrated his faith at the Mass of Saint Jude Thaddeus.
In addition to the past, Joel will have the red-black fans on his side who, like him, are also confident of a victory.
Juvenal Juvêncio: 'The cup belongs to São Paulo'
São Paulo president says he will not hand over the trophy to Flamengo
São Paulo president Juvenal Juvêncio remains adamant about the controversy surrounding the polka-dot trophy: it belongs to São Paulo and no one else. The director ruled out handing the trophy over to Flamengo, whose five-time Brazilian championship is not recognized by the CBF.
radio l! - I'm not going to give anything away. The cup belongs to São Paulo. Anyone who doesn't like this - I won't name names - should eat less - Juvenal said
Joel wanted Bruno in the Brasileirão team\ Natalino praises the goalkeeper's work in decisive moments\
The fact that Bruno was not one of the three goalkeepers nominated for the award for the best in the Brasileirão - the chosen ones were Rogério Ceni, Diego Cavalieri and Felipe - was disapproved by Flamengo coach, Joel Santana.
"I talked to him myself, and when someone is good, they shouldn't worry too much about it. However, he deserved to be on this list, because when Flamengo needed him, he was there," he argues.
Bruno made his Flamengo debut in the club's 2-1 loss to Internacional in last year's Brasileirão in September. The Gávea's number 1 has played 74 matches for the club and has won the Taça Guanabara and the State Championship, both this year.
With a guaranteed spot, Júnior asks for adjustments at Fla
Idol recommends hiring more experienced players
Fred Gomes RIO DE JANEIRO
Libertadores champion with Flamengo exactly 26 years ago, this Friday, former player Júnior believes that, if the Rubro-Negro secures a place in the Libertadores, he will need to make some adjustments to the team, betting on signing experienced athletes.
"The Libertadores is a competition that, in addition to requiring good players, also requires players with a certain amount of experience. To advise and guide the younger players," he explains.
Capacete, as he was called due to his vast hair, classifies the arrival of the experienced Fabio Luciano and Ibson, raised in Gávea, as a milestone for Flamengo in the competition.
"Without a doubt, Fabio Luciano and Ibson were a turning point in getting Flamengo to where it is today. Fabio Luciano arrived, setting things right, providing guidance. We saw a commanding voice being respected. He lived up to expectations," he concluded, avoiding mentioning big names, believing that this is a task for Joel Santana and Kleber Leite.
Joel assigns Maxi and Jaílton to the collective
Coach tests third formation this week
Joel Santana tested the third formation in three training sessions this week. This time, the coach kept Jaílton in midfield and put Maxi up front, moving Renato Augusto back.
In the second half of training, Joel took off Jaílton and Maxi when the starters were leading 2-0. Roger and Obina came into the starting lineup. With the new formation, Obina and Souza returned to the defense while Roger and Renato Augusto were left free. But it didn't go very well, and the reserves scored a goal through Maxi.
On Wednesday, Joel Santana tested Léo Medeiros in place of Toró, who was suspended for his third yellow card. And on Thursday, it was Roger and Obina's turn to start in place of Jaílton and Léo Medeiros.
This Friday, the starters were: Bruno, Léo Moura, Fábio Luciano, Ronaldo Angelim and Juan; Jaílton (Roger), Cristian, Ibson, Renato Augusto; Maxi (Obina) and Souza.
Júnior wants a place in honor of the Nation
Idol points to fans as decisive in the fight for a place in the Copa Libertadores
Junior bets on classification
Fred Gomes RIO DE JANEIRO
One of the pillars of the 1981 Libertadores title—on November 23 of that year, a 2-0 victory over Cobreloa (CHI) in Montevideo (URU) gave Flamengo the trophy—former player Júnior sees Sunday's match against Atlético-PR as the team's best chance to confirm its qualification for South America's premier competition for the ninth time. For the idol, the spot will be a prize for the Red-Black Nation.
"Playing at home against a team that has no ambitions in the Brazilian Championship makes things easier. However, the biggest advantage is the energy of the fans this year. The fans felt they could have been important and did what they did. In our era, they did the same, but perhaps they were more relaxed because our team is so good. This year, they had to participate, and once again, they delivered," he praises.
Still praising Flamengo fans, Júnior has already chosen a gift for the red-black crowd.
- As a reward for what this crowd did, nothing is more fair than a place in the Libertadores - he concluded.

Rubro-Negro will face the winner of the match between Petrópolis and América in the State Futsal Championship
LANCEPRESS!
Flamengo secured its spot in the semifinals of the State Futsal Championship last Thursday by defeating Vasco 6-5 in overtime. Scorer of two goals in the match, winger Michel was thrilled by the fans' enthusiasm and eagerly awaits his next opponent, which will be the final match between Petrópolis and América.
"It's exciting. In a derby like this one between Vasco and Flamengo, with the fans present, I don't think there's anything more exciting. Now, we have to face Petrópolis or América; we can't choose," he said.
The Rubro-Negro's opponent in the semifinals will be known this Friday at 20 p.m. at the UCP Gymnasium in Bigen, Petrópolis. The team from Serra, which won 1-0 in the first leg of the quarterfinals, has the advantage of qualifying with a draw. If they lose in regulation time, they will play for another draw in overtime.
Joel tests Roger and Obina among the starters
However, Léo Medeiros should take Toró's place, who is suspended.
Joel Santana tested an attacking formation during training this Thursday. The coach started Roger and Renato Augusto in the middle, removing Jaílton, and putting Obina alongside Souza.
However, Roger has revealed that he won't start, so Léo Medeiros is expected to fill the suspended Toró's spot.
"I know I'll stay for the second half. The important thing is to contribute when I come on," said the midfielder.
