Fla strolls along the sides
Team thrashes Cardoso Moreira (4-1) with good performances from Juan and Leonardo Moura
LEONARDO MOURA, scorer of Flamengo's fourth goal in yesterday's victory, dances with Toró in celebration
Flamengo didn't even need to showcase its full potential. Aided by the immaturity of Cardoso Moreira's defenders, who conceded a penalty and a red card before the half-hour mark, coach Joel Santana's team played at practice pace to win 30-4 yesterday at Maracanã and take the lead in Group A of the Campeonato Carioca, level on six points with Fluminense but two goals ahead of their rivals. The goals came from Ibson, a penalty, Souza, Juan, and Leonardo Moura.
- I will keep working so that the praise continues - said Leonardo, after the game in which Flamengo knew how to use the sides of the field not only with their full-backs.
Solidarity with Renato Augusto
In the first half, Flamengo quickly found a way to break through the defense. In the 9th minute, Marcinho crossed, Souza headed, and Macula saved. In another baseline play, Marcinho went down, demanding a penalty that the referee would award minutes later, when Juan, with his back to goal, was childishly brought down by Caboclo. Ibson skillfully displaced the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 in the 21st minute. Flamengo would soon gain the advantage in terms of manpower. Ernandes made a harsh challenge on Leonardo Moura and was sent off in the 26th minute, without receiving a yellow card.
At a slow pace, Flamengo capitalized on their opponent's mistakes until their momentum picked up late in the first half, when Toró unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that bounced off the crossbar and into the net, but the referee allowed play to continue. Juan then crossed from the left, the ball went past Souza, and Leonardo Moura hit the post. In the 45th minute, Souza controlled the ball on the wing, ran diagonally, and tapped it in with his left foot: 2-0.
In the second half, with the introduction of Rodrigo, son of Flamengo idol Júnior, Cardoso Moreira staged a comeback. In the tenth minute, he crossed from the right for Vágner Carioca to turn and make it 2-1. With Obina replacing Jaílton, in the 18th minute, Flamengo pushed Marcinho back and quickly returned to the pressure. In the 22nd minute, Juan received a beautiful pass from Obina and shot from a poor angle to make it 3-1. Inspired, the fans' favorite made some impressive plays and even scored the fourth, which was wrongly disallowed for offside. In the 37th minute, the goal counted: after an exchange of passes by the entire attack, Leonardo Moura, in the six-yard box, sealed the score.
"It's important to always stay alert. Due to a carelessness, we had to push until the end," warned Joel Santana after the match.
Before the game, while the coach, Toró, and Leonardo Moura left the training camp to visit Renato Augusto, who had just undergone surgery, Flamengo agreed to purchase 15% of goalkeeper Bruno's rights from Atlético-MG for 600 euros in ten installments, which enabled the player's registration with the Federation and selection yesterday. The club now holds 90% of the rights.
Flamengo: Bruno, Leonardo Moura, Fabio Luciano and Juan; Jailton (Obina), Toro, Ibson (Rodrigo) and Jonathan; Marcinho and Souza (Maxi). Fla's kids beat Cardoso
In a highly competitive preliminary round, Flamengo's youth team easily defeated Cardoso Moreira 2-1 in the second round of the Rio de Janeiro State Championship, taking another step toward achieving their dream of winning their first-ever championship. Vander and Diguinho scored the goals for Flamengo.
The game began with Flamengo trying to impose a blistering pace, but the team from northern Rio de Janeiro's strong marking hampered the creativity of coach Adílio's team. Despite the pace, the match lacked excitement, at least until midway through the first half, when the Flamengo fans began arriving and galvanizing the youngsters. With help from the stands, the Gávea boys surged forward and soon opened the scoring with Vander, in a confusing play.
After the goal, the game became lukewarm again until the end of the second half, when midfielder Diguinho scored for the last time.
Fans throw a party for Bruno
Flamengo fans were already getting worried about the situation of goalkeeper Bruno, but a few hours before yesterday's match against Cardoso Moreira, at Maracanã, the name of the red-black goalkeeper appeared in the Athlete Registration Information Bulletin (Bira) of the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation and was cleared to participate in the game.
Fans were already waiting for the scoreboard to announce Diego's name, and when Bruno's photo appeared, it seemed as if coach Joel Santana's team had scored a goal. The goalkeeper entered the field carrying some young fans and was immediately given a standing ovation by the great red-and-black nation, who once again declared him the best goalkeeper in Brazil.
The club's lawyer, Michel Assef Filho, summarized the situation of the athletes who have not yet been regularized.
"Our efforts paid off, and Bruno's name came up today (yesterday). He was cleared to play. Diego Tardelli's documentation is about to arrive, but we didn't have time to register him," explained the lawyer, who has not yet filed an appeal to reduce Gavilán's sentence.

Ibson celebrates his goal alongside Léo Moura and Juan
The 4-1 victory over Cardoso Moreira could have left everyone at Flamengo relaxed and confident that the job was being done well. But in coach Joel Santana's view, there's still room for improvement. The main point he cited was the team's early second-half slump, which resulted in Wagner Carioca's goal, when the opponent was down ten men due to defender Ernandes's red card.
"I didn't get angry, but when the result isn't guaranteed, I get nervous; it's normal. After scoring two goals, the team lost interest in the match. That's why I brought on Obina, and if the team didn't improve, I'd change it again. But we played well and were confident. You have to be patient when you don't have the ball and disciplined when you have possession," assessed Joel Santana, who, despite the round's results favoring the teams with greater investment, prefers not to make predictions. However, he already sees a possible rival further down the line.
"Botafogo started very well, they organized themselves quickly. But I've seen a lot in football, I don't usually rush things, there are teams like Caxias, Cabofriense and Macaé that can give us trouble. It's better to wait two more rounds to see who will make it," advised the coach.
One of Flamengo's standout performers in yesterday's match, right-back Leonardo Moura celebrated maintaining the same level of form he displayed last season. He even ended up being rewarded with a beautiful goal, following a delightful pass from Juan.
"I'm happy to maintain my consistency, as I have a personal goal, which is to reach the Brazilian national team," confessed the full-back, who already has his sights set on his biggest rival in Group A:
"We always pay close attention to Fluminense's games. It's natural, they were the clubs that invested the most, and the focus is on both. Since we've always played behind them, as long as we're winning, the pressure won't come, but if we lose, it could get complicated," he said.
Léo Moura: the game's character
When Flamengo took the field yesterday to face Cardoso Moreira in the second round of the Taça Guanabara, the fans' attention was focused on goalkeeper Bruno, who was released moments before the match, and defensive midfielder Jônatas, who was returning to the Maracanã after 18 months. But the one who stole the show was right-back Léo Moura.
With his phenomenal runs, the full-back led Flamengo to another victory, being responsible for the team's main opportunities throughout the match.
In addition to good passes and crosses, Léo Moura also scored the goal that guaranteed the rout.
Despite being the star of the match, the player preferred to congratulate his teammates as he left the pitch.
"Now the important thing is to keep working. We're off to a very good start, now we just need to continue with the seriousness. Congratulations to all the players. We're working hard. I'm sure we'll grow even more," said Léo Moura.

Íbson celebrates his goal: it was the first of four in the red-black rout
Flamengo returned to Maracanã this Thursday and comfortably defeated Cardoso Moreira 4-1, despite experiencing some turbulence early in the second half. The match was part of the second round of the Guanabara Cup. The unprecedented match marked the return of Jônatas and the debut of defender Rodrigo in the Gávea shirt.
With a weak start to the match, Flamengo failed to threaten the North Fluminense team's goal. Macula only really got going in the 10th minute. After a cross from the right, Souza headed the ball, and Cardoso Moreira's number 1 made a great save. However, minutes later, Flamengo found its goal in a controversial play. Juan, who was offside, took advantage of a weak shot from outside the box. He was then brought down by Caboclo. A penalty, which Ibson converted with skill.
Cardoso Moreira, playing defensively, came closest to the goalposts with a long-range free kick from Neném, which still barely threatened. The red-and-white team also lost defender Ernandes, who was sent off for a foul on Léo Moura.
In the final 10 minutes, it was all Flamengo. The team managed to score the second goal with a powerful shot from outside the box by Toró. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced into the net, but neither the referee nor the linesman saw it. Shortly after, Juan came down the left and the cross sailed across the box. Léo Moura pounced and tackled the ball against the post. From the rebound, Toró was slow to finish and was dispossessed.
The second goal came in stoppage time. Juan launched the ball down the right, Souza controlled it, beat Paulo Roberto, entered the box, and skillfully finished, leaving Macula with no chance.
In the second half, Cardoso Moreira adopted a more attacking stance, which paid off. Neném launched a counterattack and found Vágner Carioca in the box. Practically on the penalty spot, the center forward turned and shot into the corner, leaving Bruno with no chance, who even glanced the ball off. Five minutes later, Ibson had a good chance to extend his lead. He got past the opposing defense but sent the third goal over the bar.
After conceding the goal, Flamengo went all out against the red-and-whites. Marcinho had a great chance to extend his lead. He shot from the edge of the six-yard box, but Macula saved from close range. Joel, not satisfied, brought Obina on board. And it was precisely from the feet of the Flamengo fan favorite that the third came. The "black angel" received the ball at the edge of the box and passed it to Juan, who arrived almost at the byline and fired it into the top corner. A stunning goal!
It was easy. Down two goals, Cardoso Moreira stopped attacking and focused only on avoiding a potentially historic defeat. Flamengo continued to press even with victory virtually assured. And the pressure paid off. Juan, from the half-moon, passed the ball to Léo Moura, who, caught offside, fired a cross-shot, turning the score into a rout, much to the delight of the crowd at Maracanã.
In the next round, Flamengo faces Duque de Caxias, while Cardoso Moreira hosts Boavista, in the 3rd round of Carioca.
THE DAY
Flamengo breaks Cardoso Moreira's defense and wins second victory: 4-1
Diogo Dantas
Rio - It wasn't a brilliant performance. But the 4-1 victory over Cardoso Moreira, Flamengo's second in the Guanabara Cup, was convincing. With goals from Íbson, a penalty, Souza, Juan, and Léo Moura, the red-and-black team finished the second round undefeated and top of Group A with 6 points, surpassing Fluminense on goal difference.
The performances of the newcomers Jônatas, who stayed in Spanish football for a year and a half, and Marcinho, who wanted to leave a "flea" behind Joel's ear, were pleasing, especially the latter's, who moved around a lot and provided good attacking options.
In the second half, Obina came on and ignited the game after a lackluster first half for Flamengo. Íbson once again underperformed. Juan and Léo Moura lived up to expectations, and Bruno, despite conceding a goal, brought confidence back to the team.
"It's a good start; winning is always good. All the players are coming along, and we have to support them so they can settle in quickly," said Léo Moura. Fabio Luciano was also pleased with the result. "We got three important points," he said.
"I'm very happy to be back. I played well, but I hope to improve in Sunday's game, because I'm not 100% yet," said Jônatas.
Neném, from the opposing team, believes that anxiety may have hindered the team's performance. "We came here very motivated, but some players were very anxious because they had never played at Maracanã," he said.
In their next match, Flamengo faces Duque de Caxias this Sunday at Maracanã Stadium. Cardoso Moreira faces Boavista on Saturday.
The game
The match didn't promise many goals. But in the fifth minute, Marcinho received a corner kick low and shot with the instep. The ball crossed in front of the goal and went just wide of goalkeeper Macula's right post.
In the 9th minute, a beautiful play down the right. Jônatas advanced past a defender, passed to Marcinho, who also beat his marker, and went to the byline. The cross was met by Souza, who headed it powerfully, forcing Macula to make a strong save.
Cardoso Moreira withstood Flamengo's initial pressure and pressed the defense. Flamengo, for its part, failed to vary its plays to hinder the opposing defense, as it always concentrated its attacks on the right.
In the 19th minute, the ineffective Juan was caught offside, but was fouled inside the box, and the referee awarded a clear penalty. Íbson took the shot and opened the scoring at Maracanã.
Cardoso Moreira didn't rush forward, and Flamengo began to organize their game better, especially with Jônatas, who was free in the first half. In the 27th minute, midfielder Ernandes was sent off after a hard challenge on Léo Moura, further complicating the situation for the team from northern Rio de Janeiro.
Cardoso Moreira's only relatively dangerous move came in the 36th minute, with a long-range free kick from Neném that went close to Bruno's left post.
Despite the good movement of Marcinho and Jônatas, the red-black team seemed a little lacking in energy, a lack reflected in Íbson's performance in the first half.
In the 38th minute, Toró scored the second, but neither the referee nor the assistant referee saw the ball go in and didn't award the goal. The powerful long-range shot hit the crossbar and bounced over the goal line at high speed. The game remained 1-0.
In the next two minutes, two more dramatic moments occurred. Goalkeeper Macula received a back pass and, trying to clear it, shot straight at Marcinho. The player put the ball in front of him, but the goalkeeper recovered and jumped at the striker's feet. Soon after, Juan crossed well from the left, and Léo Moura tipped it against the post.
And before the end of the first half, a brilliant move. Souza raced down the right, got past Paulo Roberto, entered the box, came out of the foul with force, and finished with class past the goalkeeper. 2-0.
Son of former player Júnior on the field. Obina spices up the game
Rodrigo, son of former Flamengo idol Júnior, came on for Cardoso Moreira. In the 9th minute, he passed to Vágner Carioca, who spun at the edge of the box and beat goalkeeper Bruno, reducing the score to 2-1.
Íbson was definitely not having a great night. He received the ball in the middle, advanced, and tried to chip it over the goalkeeper, but his shot went wide. Flamengo returned to the second half slower and less energetic than they had ended the first. Not even the own goal seemed to rouse the team, which began to come under pressure.
Joel Santana finally heeded the fans' calls, who were already chanting Obina's name, and brought the striker on in the 18th minute for Jaílton. And the substitution almost paid off. In the 21st minute, Obina received the ball on the left, passed it to Juan, who crossed to Marcinho, and the striker fired a shot straight at the goalkeeper.
Then the suffocation ended once and for all. Obina again passed to Juan, who once again went to the baseline and, instead of crossing, shot high into the goal, making it three and redeeming himself with the fans.
The game became quite open after that. And in the 37th minute, Léo Moura received the ball inside the box and crossed it to seal the victory. Earlier, Joel Santana had already taken off Souza and Íbson and brought on Maxi and Rodrigo to secure the win. Final: 4-1.
Flamengo: Joel regrets the 'silly things'
Janir Junior
Rio - Despite the rout, coach Joel Santana criticized the team's sluggishness and the ease with which it picked up cards. The coach was concerned about the goal the team conceded in the second half and, especially, the second yellow card picked up by striker Souza. "If he gets another one, he'll be out of the next game. A team that wants to be a champion can't afford to be complacent. Especially conceding a goal to a team with a man down," Joel said.
For the coach, Flamengo is still far from the style of play they displayed at the end of last year. "We need to find the style of play we saw at the end of the Brasileirão. That's how I want the Copa Libertadores to be," he emphasized.
But if Souza is a concern, Joel Santana will have a reinforcement for the match against Duque de Caxias on Sunday. Striker Diego Tardelli is cleared to debut for the Gávea club. The player will be regularized today.

Flamengo thrashes Cardoso Moreira and leads group A\ Gazeta Press\
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Flamengo played well on Thursday night at the Maracanã, defeating Cardoso Moreira, a first-division debutant in the Campeonato Carioca, 4-1. Ibson, Souza, Juan, and Leo Moura scored for the Red-Blacks, while Wagner Carioca pulled one back for the visitors. With the victory, Flamengo leads Group A with six points, surpassing Fluminense on goal difference. After watching Fluminense struggle to beat Duque de Caxias on Wednesday, Flamengo didn't want to take any chances and attacked Cardoso Moreira early in the game. Just eight minutes in, Marcinho, replacing the injured Renato Augusto, made a good move and lifted the ball into the box for Souza to head home, forcing Macula to make a great save.
Gradually, the weak Cardoso Moreira improved his marking and made life a bit more difficult for Joel Santana's men. Then, in the 21st minute, the Red-Blacks opened the scoring with a penalty kick. Juan was brought down in the box, and Ibson made no mistake: the goalkeeper on one side, the ball on the other.
At 25, things got more complicated for the team from the interior. Defender Hernandes committed a hard foul on full-back Leonardo Moura and was sent off. Down ten men, Cardoso Moreira retreated and closed in at the back.
But Flamengo gradually found openings to score, mainly through plays down the wings. In the 38th minute, Toró had a legitimate goal go unmarked. The midfielder unleashed a rocket from the edge of the box, which hit the crossbar and bounced into the net, but the referee ruled it out. Two minutes later, goalkeeper Macula struggled with a back pass, and Toró, again, nearly capitalized.
In the 41st minute, Leo Moura hit Macula's post. In the 45th minute, Souza was released on the right side of the attack, shook off his marker, and fired past the goalkeeper for the second.
The second half began with Flamengo rushing forward and neglecting their defense. The team relaxed their marking and were punished in the 9th minute. Midfielder Rodrigo Magalhães, son of former star Júnior, who made history at Gávea and with the Brazilian national team, set up Wagner Carioca. The striker ignored the defense, controlled the ball, turned, and shot into Bruno's right corner, scoring Cardoso Moreira's first goal in the first division.
The game, which was supposed to be easy, became complicated. Stunned by the blunder, Flamengo gave Cardoso Moreira space, who began to dream of a draw. Under pressure from the fans, Joel Santana responded and brought on Obina for Jaílton. After many instructions to the team, Flamengo got back on track and began to hammer the opponent.
Keeping the game on the wings, Flamengo created a threat in the 20th minute. Juan advanced to the byline and passed to Marcinho, who unleashed a powerful shot at Macula, wasting a great chance. In the 22nd minute, the Flamengo fans breathed a sigh of relief. Obina threaded a perfect pass to Juan in the box. The full-back fired a powerful shot to score the third.
With the game all but decided, 3-1, Joel Santana took off Ibson and Souza, bringing on Rodrigo and Maxi Biancucci. But Flamengo didn't slow down, scoring the fourth in the 37th minute through Leo Moura. After receiving a pass from Juan, the right-back curled a low shot into the corner to seal the victory.
In the third round of the Guanabara Cup, the first round of the State Championship, Flamengo will face Duque da Caxias on Sunday at 18:10 p.m. at Maracanã. Cardoso Moreira will host Boavista at 16 p.m.

As expected, Flamengo started out on top against Cardoso Moreira. Marcinho, replacing Renato Augusto (with a cheekbone injury), created the best plays. In one of them, he crossed for Souza, who nearly scored with a header.

In addition to the advantage on the scoreboard, Flamengo became even more relaxed when, in the 26th minute, Ernandes committed a violent foul on Leonardo Moura and received a straight red card.
Helped on one play, Rubro-Negro was hindered on another. In the 37th minute, Toró's shot went in, but assistant João Luiz Coelho didn't see it that way.
However, Flamengo ignored this. Leonardo Moura nearly scored by hitting the post. However, in the 45th minute, there was no way out, and Souza scored Flamengo's second goal.
Flamengo returned for the second half without any changes. At Cardoso Moreira, Rodrigo, son of Júnior, a great club idol, replaced Bruno Rafael.
Relaxed, the Red-Blacks watched Cardoso Moreira pull one back in the ninth minute with Wagner Carioca. Sensing the team's slump, coach Joel Santana, to shake things up, brought on Obina, a fan favorite, in Jaílton's place.
The team really woke up. In fact, from Obina's feet, in the 22nd minute, came the pass for Juan's goal, which gave them peace of mind and definitely put any underdogs to rest.
From then on, Flamengo simply managed the result and still had the opportunity, with Leonardo Moura, in the 36th minute, to score the fourth goal and give the final numbers to the match.
Tardelli is released and can debut for Flamengo on Sunday
From UOL Esporte\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Fla's new reinforcement could make his debut in the match against Duque de Caxias
São Paulo sent Flamengo all the documentation for Diego Tardelli's transfer this Thursday. With this, the striker is now cleared to be registered in the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation's (FERJ) BIRA (Athlete Registration Information Bulletin). The player has a contract with the Gávea club until the end of 2012.
The tendency, therefore, is that Tardelli will already be an option on the bench for the game against Duque de Caxias, Sunday, at 18:10 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the third round of Group A of the Guanabara Cup, first round of the State Championship.
Also this Thursday, Flamengo regularized the situation of goalkeeper Bruno, whose name has already been released on BIRA and who will be on the field at 19:30 pm (Brasília time), when the team faces Cardoso Moreira.
Midfielder Gavilán, who signed a three-month contract (risk contract, due to a chronic problem in his right knee - the beginning of osteoarthritis), is another who is already fit to play.
Jônatas approves his return to Flamengo
From UOL Esporte\ In Rio de Janeiro\
After some bureaucratic problems, Jônatas had his situation regularized and made his debut wearing the Flamengo shirt, this Thursday, when Rubro-Negro defeated Cardoso Moreira, 4-1, at Maracanã, in Group A of the Guanabara Cup, first round of the State Championship.
Jônatas, who played the full 90 minutes, acknowledged that he still needs to improve, but stressed the importance of having performed normally from the start to the end of the match.
"We got a good result. I think I did well and was able to contribute to this victory. However, of course, I'm not 100 percent yet. That will only happen as the matches progress," he emphasized.
In the next round, Flamengo faces Duque de Caxias this Sunday at 18:10 pm (Brasília time) at Maracanã Stadium. Jônatas is confirmed and will be joined by Jaílton, Toró, and Ibson.
With the victory over Cardoso Moreira, Flamengo reached six points in the group, level with Fluminense, but has the advantage in goal difference (5 to 3). The top two teams advance to the semifinals.
Cardoso Moreira's goal irritates coach Joel Santana
From UOL Esporte\ In Rio de Janeiro\
Flamengo had no problem defeating Cardoso Moreira 4-1 this Thursday at Maracanã Stadium in Group A of the Guanabara Cup, the first round of the State Championship. However, the goal scored by the opponent left coach Joel Santana upset.
FLA THROWS RIO
According to the Flamengo manager, any mistake could be fatal in the fight for the group's two spots in the semifinals. Currently, with six points, Flamengo shares the lead with Fluminense, but has the advantage on goal difference: 5 to 3.
"With all due respect to Cardoso Moreira, we can't concede a goal to a team that's losing 2-0 and has a player less (Ernandes had been sent off). This could be a tiebreaker. Anyone who wants to be champion can't let things slide," complained Joel Santana.
Leaving this problem aside, Flamengo's coach highlighted the importance of not having lost any players for Sunday, when Rubro-Negro faces Duque de Caxias, at 18:10 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã.
In fact, the coach is likely to have striker Diego Tardelli available. The player has already been released by São Paulo, his former club, and his contract is expected to be registered this Friday in the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation's (FERJ) Athlete Registration Bulletin (BIRA).

Flamengo thrashes Cardoso Moreira and becomes leader
With ease, the red-black team manages to maintain 100% in the Campeonato Carioca
Fred Huber
Without scaring the fans, Flamengo had no trouble defeating Cardoso Moreira 4-1 this Thursday at Maracanã. The result leaves Flamengo atop Group A of the Carioca Championship with six points. Cardoso, which has lost two, remains without a point. The goals for Flamengo were scored by Ibson, Souza, Juan, and Leo Moura. Vagner Carioca, after a pass from Rodrigo, Júnior's son, pulled one back.
In the next round, on Sunday, January 27th, the red-blacks will face Duque de Caxias at 18:10 p.m. at Maracanã. Cardoso will host Boavista at Antônio Ferreira de Medeiros Stadium at 16 p.m.
Attack against defense
From the opening whistle, Flamengo imposed their game and launched into the attack. The team, engaging, created a chance in the ninth minute. Marcinho crossed to Souza at the far post, the striker headed the ball, and Macula made a good save. The red-and-black pressure paid off in the 21st minute. Juan, caught offside, received the ball inside the box and was pushed. From the penalty spot, Ibson took a commanding shot to open the scoring: 1-0.
Souza celebrates the beautiful goal he scored
During the celebration, the players paid tribute to their teammate Renato Augusto, who, after undergoing surgery, will be out of the team for six to seven weeks.
After Ernandes was sent off for a harsh foul on Leo Moura, the home side cornered Cardoso even further. In the 37th minute, Toró took a shot from outside the box, the ball hit the crossbar and went in. The referee didn't see it and allowed play to continue. Goalkeeper Bruno, who had not participated in the match, saw the team extend their lead in the first half. In the 45th minute, Souza sprinted, shook off defender Paulo Roberto, and fired a cross-shot into the box, making it 2-0. The red-and-blacks were completely superior on the field.
Júnior's son enters and cheers up Cardoso
After returning from the locker room, coach Charles Guerreiro introduced Rodrigo, Júnior's son, into the team. The change seemed to have energized Cardoso Moreira. In the ninth minute, Rodrigo passed to Vagner Carioca, who turned at the edge of the box and shot into Bruno's right corner: 2-1. Having recovered from the shock, Flamengo returned to the attack. In the 14th minute, Ibson received the ball in front of goalkeeper Macula but failed to put the ball into the back of the net.
More offensively after Obina's introduction, Flamengo pressed and managed to extend their lead. In the 22nd minute, the Bahia native delivered a great pass to Juan, who, despite the poor angle, fired a powerful shot and scored a beautiful goal, making it 3-1. Without much effort, Flamengo extended their lead in the 36th minute. Juan delivered a great pass to Leo Moura, who dribbled past defender Paulo Roberto and fired a cross-shot, making it 4-1.
Jônatas is not 100% yet
Midfielder is happy with his performance in the rout over Cardoso Moreira
Flamengo cruised past Cardoso Moreira 4-1 on Thursday night at Maracanã Stadium in the second round of the Taça Guanabara, the first half of the Campeonato Carioca. For midfielder Jônatas, who made his debut for the team after returning from Espanyol, the team performed well, as did he. However, the player has one caveat, noting that he's not yet 100%.
"The team did well. And I, as far as possible, also performed well. But I'm not 100% yet. Now it's time to get on with the job and think about the next matches."
Rubro-Negro defender and captain Fábio Luciano agrees with his teammate, but says that above all else, it's good to win, even without a perfect performance.
"It's important to win games; we're just starting out. We've made a few mistakes, but over time, we'll get into better shape."
Obina does not regret passing by blankly
Always humble, the striker says that the important thing is for Fla to beat their opponents
Striker Obina remains the darling of Flamengo fans, but he also remains on the bench. Coach Joel Santana, however, always gives him a chance after halftime. This Thursday, in Flamengo's rout of Cardoso Moreira at Maracanã, the same thing happened again. Obina didn't score, but he wasn't disappointed.
"I'm happy to have been able to help Flamengo. I didn't score, but the important thing is that the team beats their opponents, as they did today (Thursday)."
Full-back Leo Moura, who scored the final goal in the 4-1 victory, left the field happy to be applauded once again by the red-black fans.
- I'm happy with the team's performance and my own as well. I'll keep working hard to keep receiving praise from everyone.

Flamengo's 4-1 victory over Cardoso Moreira this Thursday at Maracanã left coach Joel Santana pleased with the team's performance. With the result, Flamengo topped Group A, ahead of rival Fluminense due to its superior goal difference. Flamengo's manager praised the players' poise on the field.
"The team played well, well-positioned and balanced on the field. The important thing is to always have discipline and know what to do with the ball. That's what we did. I wasn't irritated, and I live the game. We relaxed a bit and got a scare. Then we scored the third and fourth and were calm. Then I was able to make the changes I wanted to have made earlier," he says.
In his best style, Joel commented on Flamengo's "lack of interest" after opening up a two-goal lead. The coach recalls that he had to use a weapon from the bench: striker Obina.
"When they gave me the scare, I sent the first missile, Obina. If the goal had taken longer, I would have brought Maxi on earlier. I just had to force the game," he says.
Next Sunday, at 18:10 pm, Rubro-negro faces Duque de Caxias in the third round of the Campeonato Carioca.

Biography of Jayme de Carvalho
Jayme de Carvalho, founder of the Charanga Rubro-negra fan club and a fan who passed away in 1976, was honored this Thursday before Flamengo's match against Cardoso Moreira at Maracanã. Suderj president Eduardo Paes recalled the importance of fans to Flamengo's history.
"I'm not a Flamengo fan, but I've been to Maracanã to see this crowd. Last year was a great example; the fans put on a show and carried the team in the Brazilian Championship. Jayme is a great symbol of this."
Suely de Carvalho, Jayme's daughter, represented the family when accepting the honor. Deeply moved, she urged fans to follow her father's example.
"Everyone here is a Flamengo fan. Come to Maracanã just to cheer, like my father did. No violence in the stadiums," he says.
Also in attendance was Armando Giesta, a Tricolor fan honored on Wednesday. Jayme's wife, Laura, was absent, as she is ill.

The ceremony, held on one of the access ramps to the green grandstand, also included the launch of the book "Acima de Tudo Rubro Negro" (Acima de Tudo Rubro Negro), by Wilson Aquino and Cláudio Cruz, which tells the story of Jayme de Carvalho. Aquino recalled the pioneering spirit of the fan, who innovated in the art of cheering.
Before Jayme, there were no fans, just a single audience, with fans from all teams sitting together. He took a banner reading "Avante Mengão" to Maracanã, and from then on, Flamengo fans began to gather around it. He created a sense of unity. Even when he was hospitalized, shortly before his death, he still organized the Charanga.
Learn more about Charanga Rubro-negra
Founded in 1942, Charanga Rubro-Negra is considered Brazil's first organized fan club. Its founder, Jayme de Carvalho, gathered a group of people and some instruments to attend Flamengo games. The name was a nickname given by Ary Barroso due to the group's questionable sound quality. In its early days, Charanga faced resistance in the sports world, as, in addition to pushing the team, it would position itself behind the opposing goal to disrupt the goalkeeper.
Jayme de Carvalho died in May 1976, and leadership of the Charanga passed to his wife, Laura, who kept the fan base active throughout the 80s. In the late 80s, with the emergence of other organized groups, the members were moved to the stadium's regular seats. Shortly thereafter, the Charanga Rubro-Negra limited its participation to Flamengo's friendlies and social events.

Tricolor forwards documentation for the striker, who should soon debut for Fla
Diego Tardelli at Flamengo training
Striker Diego Tardelli has been cleared to play for Flamengo, according to the club's press office. On Thursday afternoon, São Paulo forwarded the player's documentation to the São Paulo Football Federation, but his name has not yet appeared in the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation's BIRA (Athlete Registration Bulletin), which should happen by this Friday.
This isn't a problem, as coach Joel Santana has said that Diego still needs to go through some tougher training sessions to show he's fit enough to make his debut for the red-and-black jersey. The player suffered a right ankle injury and only recently recovered.

Flamengo faced Cardoso Moreira this Thursday and comfortably won 4-1 in a match valid for the second round of Group A of the Campeonato Carioca. This was the first meeting between the two teams in history.
With the result, Rubro-Negro took the lead in the group with six points, level with Fluminense, which has a lower point difference. Cardoso Moreira is languishing in last place alongside América.
As expected before the match, Flamengo pushed for a goal from the start. However, the first clear chance came in the tenth minute. Marcinho made a run down the right and crossed for a good header from Souza. Macula palmed the ball away for a corner.
The score was opened by a refereeing error. Juan, who was offside, received the ball inside the box and was brought down by Paulo Roberto. The assistant referee overlooked the foul, and the referee correctly awarded a penalty.
Ibson skillfully delivered the shot into the right corner, past goalkeeper Macula, who fell to the other side. Shortly after, the red-and-blacks' task was made easier by the red-and-blacks' red card, Ernandes, who unnecessarily fouled Leonardo Moura and was shown a red card.
Flamengo could have extended its lead in the 38th minute if not for another mistake by the linesman. Toró unleashed a left-footed shot that hit the crossbar. The ball bounced back into the net, but play continued.
Just before half-time, Rubro-Negro scored again in a spectacular play by their number 9. Juan launched Souza, who beat Germano's strength, invaded the area and touched it with class, with his left foot, giving tranquility for the final stage.
Flamengo started the second half 10km/h behind, and Cardoso Moreira was enjoying the game. The team from the North Fluminense region reduced the score with their clearest chance so far. Midfielder Rodrigo, who came on at halftime and is the son of former Flamengo star Júnior, set up Vágner Carioca, who spun inside the box and scored a beautiful goal.
Flamengo's lackluster performance nearly resulted in the club from the interior of the state tying the score. Neném took a free kick into the box, and Fábio Luciano narrowly avoided scoring an own goal. In an attempt to change the game, coach Joel Santana took off Jaílton and brought on Obina.
The move paid off immediately. Obina delivered a beautiful pass to Juan, who unleashed a powerful shot. The ball even hit the crossbar before going in. The play thrilled the red-and-black favorite, who in the next play tried a backheel pass that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Joel gave defender Rodrigo his debut when Ibson was injured. Maxi also came on, but in place of Souza. Shortly after the changes, Juan passed the ball inside the box to Léo Moura, who beat the defender and fired a cross-shot to seal the rout.
Leonardo Moura highlights Fla's maturity
For the right-back, the team knew how to build the scoreboard calmly
LANCEPRESS!
One of Flamengo's standout players in the 4-1 rout over Cardoso Moreira this Wednesday at Maracanã, right-back Leonardo Moura, who also scored the fourth goal, highlighted the team's attitude even when the opponent grew into the game.
For the player, the team had the patience to build the victory without rushing. He also praised the inclusion of attacking midfielder Marcinho in the starting lineup.
"Unlike other games, we had the maturity to score goals. We didn't funnel down the middle, and that made things easier for us. That's how we should play. Marcinho, who moved a lot, was important in creating space," admitted Léo Moura.
Obina is pleased to help Flamengo
Xodó came on in the second half and relieved the red-black team

A key player in Flamengo's 4-1 victory over Cardoso Moreira this Thursday at Maracanã, striker Obina, who came on in the second half to replace Jaílton, revealed his happiness at helping the team with a good performance.
Joel put the Flamengo fans' favorite in the game when they were leading 2-1 and, from then on, gained some composure in the match. Obina provided the assist for Juan's third goal and participated in a few other plays.
"Every time I come on, I try to help the team win. I didn't score, but I contributed the assist for the third goal," declared the red-and-black favorite.
Jônatas celebrates victory on his return to Fla
Despite being satisfied, the midfielder admits he is not at his best
LANCEPRESS!
The main change in Flamengo's midfield for the match against Cardoso Moreira, midfielder Jônatas, who played his first game since returning to the club, did not hide his satisfaction with the 4-1 win, this Thursday, at Maracanã, in the second round of the State Championship.
Still out of match fitness, Jônatas performed well and emphasized that he will improve further as the competition progresses. The number 5 was pleased with Flamengo's performance.
"The team did very well, and I think I was also able to contribute to the victory. I still need to improve physically, but soon I'll be at 100%," said Jônatas.
