On Flamengo's first day of training in Belo Horizonte, ahead of Wednesday's match against Atlético-MG at Mineirão Stadium, coach Ney Franco received some good news yesterday. The Bruno saga has finally come to an end. The goalkeeper has yet to receive a good offer from abroad and is expected to renew with Flamengo next Monday. In the early hours of yesterday, his agent, Eduardo Uram, called the head of MSI in Brazil, Kia Joorabichian, and was informed that nothing new had emerged regarding the player's sale.
As agreed with the club's vice president of football, Kleber Leite, if no proposal is received by today, the goalkeeper's contract with Flamengo will be extended by six months.
"Apparently, no new developments have emerged in Bruno's negotiations. Therefore, the renewal is expected to happen on Monday, as Kia had promised," the executive stated.
The goalkeeper's contract, which expires today, is expected to be extended until December of this year. However, it is expected to include a clause allowing the player to leave the club if an offer comes in from abroad.
"The law stipulates that a contract extension must be for at least three months, but the renewal must be completed by December. Investors want the player to remain active until an offer from abroad is made. Therefore, his contract must be extended so he can continue playing while his situation is awaited. However, if an offer from abroad appears, there will be a clause for his release," explained Eduardo Uram.
Furthermore, if Bruno's renewal is confirmed on Monday, or at worst on Tuesday, he could play in the match against Atlético-MG on July 4th at Mineirão Stadium. The reinforcement will be very welcome, as Flamengo is currently 18th in the Brazilian Championship and has had one of its standout performers since the start of the season.
"I'm working all the time as if Bruno could play against Atlético. Therefore, the ideal would be for him to actually play. If he can't, Diego will come in. But the board has given me peace of mind about using the player, so much so that he will start in our training match," said coach Ney Franco.

Yesterday, coach Ney Franco positively analyzed the period of absences Flamengo is forced to endure due to the closure of the Maracanã stadium for construction work to host the Pan-American Games. He celebrated the fact that he now has more time to prepare the team and also to better understand Atlético-MG's style of play. Rio - Despite traveling with the team to Belo Horizonte, goalkeeper Bruno is unlikely to face Atlético-MG on Wednesday.
