To achieve this historic feat, physical preparation, doctors, and physiologists are on the move. The overnight trip back from Mexico City, including flights and connections, took 12 hours. On the plane, at 22 p.m. on Thursday, Joel advised the players to get some sleep. Upon arrival in Rio, physical trainer Ronaldo Torres led a light workout in the training center's gym. Afterwards, physiologists Rogério Neves and Paulo Figueiredo took the field alongside the technology team.
Blood samples from the players were subjected to a modern device to measure levels of creatine kinase, an enzyme that determines muscle damage after exertion. The squad was instructed to consume carbohydrate-rich beverages. During training, everyone drank coconut water.
Another technological innovation used was Fisiomag, a device composed of vibrating platforms placed in contact with different muscle groups of athletes. At the end, the device emits infrared rays, which have an anti-inflammatory effect, to increase blood flow to the muscles, increase oxygenation, and eliminate toxins.
"Not talking so much about fatigue is a step towards the team doing well. The fatigue exists, but we have to overcome it," said Leonardo Moura.
There will be no training today. The team will only rest. Coach Joel Santana is keeping the lineup for the final a secret. Renato Augusto, unsure about his recovery from a right leg injury, is unlikely to start and is even a doubt for the bench. In the starting lineup, Joel is expected to choose between Kleberson and Jaílton in midfield, forming a midfield with Cristian, Ibson, and Toró.

The Special Stadium Policing Group (GEPE) has been officially informed that a ticket-making model disappeared from BWA, the São Paulo-based company responsible for ticketing, and thousands were manufactured for sale in Rio, São Paulo (Palmeiras vs. Ponte Preta), and Minas Gerais (Cruzeiro vs. Atlético).
The embezzlement is being investigated by the São Paulo police. GEPE Major João Jaques Busnello has placed his force on standby to capture as many fake tickets as possible.
"The theft or misappropriation of ticket-making materials is already under police investigation in São Paulo. BWA has filed a report. We've been informed that counterfeit tickets are being sold in Rio, São Paulo, and Belo Horizonte," Busnello said.
There is no information on the number of counterfeit tickets produced, and GEPE warns fans not to buy from scalpers. Tickets are sold out: 78.716 paid customers, with revenue of R$1.715.135.

Heartbroken and divided between Flamengo and the South African national team, coach Joel Santana can no longer hide his emotions about his final moments in charge of Brazil's most popular club. Worse still, since the group will be staying at their hotel until hours before the Campeonato Carioca final tomorrow at 16 p.m. against Botafogo at the Maracanã stadium, the coach likely won't even have time to stop by Gávea to say goodbye.

Bruno arrived in August 2006 and has since become one of the leaders of the Flamengo team. He's fighting for a second Rio de Janeiro championship.
A native of Minas Gerais by birth, but not by personality. That's how goalkeeper Bruno can be described. Contradicting the saying that those born in Minas Gerais acquire their own quiet space, Bruno, alongside Fábio Luciano, is the greatest leader of the current Flamengo squad. Often explosive and often charming, Bruno will have a special day tomorrow. Besides playing in the Campeonato Carioca final, he will be completing 100 games for Flamengo.
Such a special milestone couldn't have come at a better time. Bruno could achieve it by becoming champion for the second time since joining the club in August 2006.
