Despite not playing well, Flamengo achieved what it wanted. Club still negotiating with Petrobras
President Marcio Braga and Vice President of Marketing Ricardo Hinrichsen met yesterday with representatives from Petrobras, the club's partner for 24 years, to discuss the new sponsorship agreement. Rio - Flamengo maintained its 100% record in the Guanabara Cup by beating Volta Redonda 2-1 at the Maracanã on Thursday, with goals from Juan and Diego Tardelli. The former São Paulo player impressed in his debut for the red-and-black team and was replaced by Obina in the 17th minute of the second half.
The team started the game with a bang. In the first minute, Kleberson crossed from the right, Souza headed the ball into the middle of the box, and the ball fell to Juan, who spun and blasted past the opposing goalkeeper, making it 1-0.

Kléber Leite wants Romário for his farewell match and as Fla's poster boy

Rio - Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, wants more than just a farewell match for Romário in the "mantle." A goalless draw with Montevideo Wanderes on Thursday night (7), in the Uruguayan capital, guaranteed Cienciano a place in the second phase of the Copa Libertadores da América.
Now, the Peruvian team, which beat the Uruguayan team 1-0 in the first leg of the Libertadores preliminary round, enters group 4 of the tournament sequence, where Flamengo, Coronel Bolognesi and Nacional are already.
Without the help of Cuzco's 3-meter altitude, Cienciano held firm and held off the Wanderes for the entire 90 minutes to return to Peru with their spot sealed, helped by Japanese player Sawa's goal in the first match.

After surgery, the club's doctors will set a timeframe for his return to the team. After the match, it was rumored that he would be out of action for six weeks.
Starting in place of captain Fábio Luciano, who was suspended for his red card in the 4-0 victory over América, Rodrigo started for the first time since arriving at Gávea. Coach Joel Santana lamented his team player's lack of luck.
"Losing a defender like this is very bad. He arrived out of shape and we were slowly working on him and getting him into the team. And in his first opportunity to play 90 minutes, this happened," commented the coach.

Striker Diego Tardelli made his debut by scoring a goal for Flamengo, in the 2-1 victory over Volta Redonda, on Thursday night, at Maracanã, a result that guaranteed Rubro-Negro mathematically first place in Group A of the Guanabara Cup, the first round of the State Championship, with one round to spare.
Tardelli celebrated his good debut and explained why he celebrated the goal with striker Souza, his former rival.
"I wanted to leave a good impression and I think I did. Our celebration was to make it clear that I was well received by Souza. That situation has passed," commented the striker, who exchanged barbs with the red-and-black striker when he was still at São Paulo and the Rio de Janeiro club's board announced that they wanted to sign him.
A potential Flamengo deal with Romário, who is currently in dispute with Vasco, would be very welcome, in Tardelli's opinion. And a major headache for coach Joel Santana.

Present at the event, Flamengo's vice president of marketing, Ricardo Hinrichsen, promised the club's full support for the marketing of the material.
"We'll use the club's current channels to market content through partnerships, new club stores, and help in any way we can. After this launch, we'll begin negotiating how it will be released on DVD. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the directors of "Écampeã!" (watch the video alongside with the film's trailer) and "Conte Comigo Mengão!" used amateur footage to portray the red-black titles through the eyes of the fans.
"We decided to launch this project during the Copa do Brasil final, and President Marcio Braga embraced the idea. Based on this initial material, we enlisted the help of TV Globo, which provided us with campaign footage. For the State Championship, we partnered with the fans. Nowadays, with the internet, everything is easier, and we receive footage from all over the country, which gave the documentary even more realism," reveals director Raphael Vieira.
In addition to behind-the-scenes footage and fan reactions during the games, the films also feature statements from the heroes of each achievement, from those who have already left the club, such as coach Ney Franco and midfielder Renato, to current idols Renato Augusto and Bruno.

Flamengo shouted from the rooftops that it would never play above 2.750 meters again after the match against Real Potosí in 2007. The board's promise was kept, including in this year's Copa Libertadores draw. However, it seems that everything will remain just a mere wish.
This Thursday, Cienciano qualified for the Rubro-Negro group. The Peruvian team plays in Cuzco, at an altitude of 3.360 meters, and the match is scheduled for April 9th. The Rio de Janeiro board even appealed to FIFA. But so far, nothing has come of it.
"FIFA has warned that it is not competent to intervene in this case. We would have to appeal to the sports court. But the question is: will there be enough time for him to speak out during this Libertadores Cup?" Flamengo's lawyer, Michel Assef Filho, asked by phone.
The main opponent of games at altitude, Fla's vice-president of football, Kléber Leite, avoided commenting on the situation and said that the case "was in the hands of the legal department."
After the Flamengo scandal in 2007, FIFA decided that international matches could only be played above 2.750 meters if there were 21 days of acclimatization. However, CONMEBOL ignored this recommendation and allowed matches to be played at all altitudes.
"It's dangerous. Flamengo fears for the lives of its athletes in Cuzco and makes that very clear. The legal department is still waiting until the end for FIFA to take action against this," says Assef Filho.
So, will Rubro-Negro carry out the threat of losing by default if they really have to play in Cuzco?
