Braz fights to try to keep Aírton at Fla
\
\
Flamengo's vice president of football, Marcos Braz, met yesterday in São Paulo with Júlio Mariz, president of the company Traffic, which owns 30% of Aírton's economic rights - the other 50% belong to Nova Iguaçu and the rest to the red-black club - to try to keep the midfielder at the red-black club for the 2010 season.
\
Benfica presented a proposal of R$7 million for the player's economic rights, and Traffic showed its willingness to negotiate. Braz's appeal, claiming that Aírton could be valued higher by his participation in the 2010 Copa Libertadores, could result in the player remaining at the club.
\
\ According to the red-black director, the board's current priority is to maintain, and\ try to renew the contracts of the players who won the Brazilian Championship, and\ then move on to some signings.
\
\ The one traveling to Europe is Gilmar Rinaldi, Adriano's agent. Marcos Braz\ believes the player will stay.
\
"Adriano is the one who decides. No club will keep him. But he has told us that he will stay at Flamengo," said the director.
\
On another front, the new board is moving to modernize the club's structures. One development may be the hiring of Brunoro Sports, a company owned by José Carlos Brunoro, a former volleyball player with a stint in Palmeiras football.
\
\ Flamengo's youth team was eliminated yesterday from the Brazilian Under-20 Championship after losing to Atlético-MG 2-1 in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, in a quarter-final match of the competition.

The Hexa Cup will be presented to the fans at the "Game of Stars"
\ \Rio de Janeiro: The "Game of Stars," a traditional charity event hosted by the eternal idol Zico, is a celebration for all fans. Quintino's Galinho always invites stars who have been and continue to be successful at other clubs to participate.
\
This year, however, the match, which will be held on the 27th at 17 p.m. at the Maracanã, will have a special ingredient for Flamengo fans: the Hexa Cup will be shown for the first time at the Maracanã. Zico will symbolically hand over the trophy to the Flamengo players so that the fans in attendance can also enjoy it.
\
"This year's Brazilian Cup was presented to Flamengo at a party organized by the CBF, so fans haven't had the opportunity to see it up close yet. Flamengo loses to Galo in the U-20
\ \\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Rio Grande do Sul: The Rubro Negro's dream of further improving its record in 2009 ended in the quarterfinals. This Friday, Flamengo lost to Atlético Mineiro in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship and said goodbye to the competition, in which it had been undefeated until then.
\
\
The game itself was quite balanced, especially in the first half, however, after the start of the second half, Flamengo calmed down and began to be increasingly threatened, opening up spaces and bringing the rooster to its territory. With that, the two goals came in the second half. For Rubro negro, the one who scored was Saba, and Breno and Wescley scored for Atlético.

The first semifinal will be between Atlético-MG and Fluminense, who eliminated Botafogo. The other will pit Inter against either Grêmio or Coritiba, who face each other this Friday.(THERE)

Flamengo may hire a sports marketing company
\ \ \ \\ \
\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Rio de Janeiro:\ New year, new life. Flamengo, a model of inadequate soccer management, may have a new partner in its attempt to organize itself and profit more from its enormous and nearly limitless market potential. Patrícia Amorim, the club's new president, is negotiating to hire a new professional soccer manager for the position of executive director. The first name to come to mind was José Brunoro, owner of a sports marketing brand that bears his name, but after discussions, there is a possibility that the company itself will form a partnership with Flamengo.
\ \ \ \"It wouldn't be me personally, but rather my company (Brunoro Sports) doing work with Flamengo. A project in the club's sports area," explained Brunoro, in a statement to Radio Brazil. Although nothing is set in stone, there are already projects on the subject. In the first phase, we would make a diagnosis, seeing how the club's departments work. Then, with our analyses in hand, we would propose a project to the club," Brunoro concluded.
\ \ \ \The potential new management's area of activity would initially be limited to football and some operational aspects, but a broader area of activity has not been ruled out. Talks are expected to continue throughout the next week.(THERE)

Marcos Braz hopes to keep the squad from the sixth title
\ \Rio de Janeiro: Flamengo's vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, on the Arena Sportv program, on Friday afternoon, guaranteed that he wants to keep the squad that won the 2009 Brazilian Championship. But to try to win the Copa Libertadores da América for the second time, the director admitted having to sign more experienced players.
\
"Our priority is to maintain the squad and, of course, make specific signings," Braz assured.
\
One of the key players on the six-time champions, Adriano is being approached by several European clubs. So far, Marcos Braz says the Brazilian Championship's top scorer is likely to stay. However, the Emperor will only stay at Flamengo if he wants to.
\
"I haven't heard anything different (about Adriano's departure). But one thing is clear: Adriano will only play for Flamengo if he wants to. He's the one who decides that. There's no such thing as the director holding him back, doing what he does, and it happens. He's a top striker and he can play whenever he wants for a top club," Marcos Braz told Arena Sportv. (BB)

Braz downplays "unnecessary wear and tear" with Andrade

Rio de Janeiro - RJ)
Two weeks of negociação to keep the Brazilian champion coach in Flamengo were enough to change the relationship between the vice president of football fans, Marcos Braz, and Andrade. With the agreement reached, which would include a 200% salary increase for the former interim president, the director sought to minimize unnecessary friction between the two.
\ \"The only point (to be\ highlighted) in this renewal is that we didn't need to have this level of wear and tear,\ but it's already resolved, Andrade is a good person", said Marcos Braz, who\ guarantees to maintain a relationship healthy with the coach. "Our relationship may not be what it was, but it was above average before, so now it's balanced," he continued.
\ \Marcos Braz also justified the harshness with which the coach's renewal has been handled in recent days - on Tuesday, Andrade openly criticized the manager, stating that "Flamengo has to stop treating me like this." According to the vice president of football, the club must be firm in order to remain at the top after winning the title.
\ \"Flamengo, in certain situations, has to impose itself so as not to run risks," he said, referring to the market: "We have a Brazilian champion squad, so our priority is not to hire, but to maintain the group and reinforce punctually. If we had a nonsense now, we would lose, but with the renewal of the coach, I will have this sequence."

Newly elected president of Flamengo, Patrícia Amorim had set as one of her goals the hiring of a professional paid to serve as executive director of football. After a conversation with businessman José Carlos Brunoro this Thursday, plans appear to have changed at Gávea. The sports marketing company owned by the former volleyball player is expected to be hired by the club.
\ \"It wouldn't be me personally, but rather my company (Brunoro Sports) doing work with Flamengo. A project in the club's sports area," explained Brunoro, in a statement to Radio Brazil.\ Former director of Parmalat at the time of partnership with Palmeiras, Brunoro was even considered as candidate to take over the club's football management.

Flamengo focuses on team formation for 2010
\ \
\
Rio de Janeiro - RJ)
Coach Andrade's stay at Gávea took on the air of a soap opera, but it ended up having a happy ending for fans, with Tromba signing a contract with the club. However, the delay in deciding on a coach ended up delaying the work of vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, who is now starting to look for reinforcements for 2010.
\ \Starting next week,\ having in hand a list of reinforcements that will be delivered by the coach, Marcos\ Braz will go to the market in search of names that can complete the squad\ Brazilian champion and replace possible losses.
\ \"Flamengo was the Brazilian champion and three-time Rio de Janeiro champion, which increases expectations about our performance in 2010 and we cannot disappoint the fans. Therefore, I have already started working to ensure that we continue to have a strong group capable of competing for titles with a chance of winning them," said Braz.
\ \The director has been showing optimism in interviews about possible reinforcements for 2010. "Today, Flamengo has better conditions to assemble its squad, as the club has been honoring its commitments on time and has regained its credibility. Furthermore, we will have the Copa Libertadores ahead of us, the main club competition in America and which always captivates fans. players", said Braz.
\ \In addition to seeking reinforcements, Flamengo continues working to maintain the base that won the Brazilian title, but has been encountering difficulties. The player who continues to be further and further away from Gávea is midfielder Zé Roberto. Schalke 04, from Germany, continues to demand the athlete's presentation at the end of this year, as he does not intend to renew the loan to Flamengo.
\ \The Germans are even willing to negotiate for the midfielder, who was used as a striker during the Brazilian Championship. But to do so, they want to permanently sell Zé Roberto's federation rights, a cost that Flamengo fans cannot afford at this time. Furthermore, to make matters worse for the Rio de Janeiro club, other Brazilian teams are eyeing the player, with Cruzeiro already having opened negotiations.
\ \Adriano, however, is expected to remain in Gávea. The Emperor confided to friends that he does not intend to return to European football, despite interest from Rome, Italy, West Ham, from England, and Olympiacos, from Greece, this team managed by Zico, inclusive.
\ \The striker sees a return to the Old Continent as detrimental to his plans to compete in the next World Cup with the Brazilian national team. He also intends to play in the Copa Libertadores.

Flamengo wants R$20 million from Benfica to release Aírton
\ \
\
Rio de Janeiro - RJ)
Flamengo's midfield 'little engine' and an important piece in the red-black team's journey towards the title Brazilian Championship, Aírton should remain in Gávea in 2010 and compete in the Copa Libertadores da América alongside Adriano, Pet and company.
\ \According to the Portuguese newspaper All time lap record this Friday, the vice-president of the Rio de Janeiro club, Márcio Braz, considered the offer Benfica's rights to the player and is not willing to release him.
\ \"The proposal did not satisfy Flamengo financially. We understand that we need the player in 2010, the year in which we will compete in an international competition," warned the director, who will only change his mind if the club incarnate resolve to bear the full amount of Aírton's fine, in the region of R$20 million.
\ \The player's federative rights are divided and do not belong entirely to the Gávea team, which only holds 20% of the midfielder. Half of the rights belong to Traffic, a partner of Palmeiras, and the remaining 30% belongs to Nova Iguaçu.

Flamengo director criticizes Rio's structure and warns clubs in the state

\ \\ \
Winning the sixth Brazilian championship title could leave the club's board complacent about the club's professional football infrastructure. After all, even without large facilities, the team won the main national championship. However, the title gives the impression that it hasn't blinded the club's leadership.
\ \Flamengo's vice president of football, Marcos Braz, stated that a high-quality training center is essential to any team's success. He frankly acknowledged that Flamengo lacks this and issued a warning to other Rio de Janeiro clubs.
\ \"Rio football cannot\ take any more of these scares of fighting relegation. Flamengo and the others\ have to face their structural problems head on," said the club's director, in\ participation in the television program Arena\SporTV.
\ \A similar discourse was adopted by coach Andrade in the week of the decisive duel between Flamengo and Grêmio, in the last round of the Brasileirão. At the time, the coach said that he considered it difficult for a Rio club to achieve hegemony like that of São Paulo, which recently won three consecutive Brazilian championships, precisely due to the lack of structure.
\ \"You need to have a suitable Training Center for a team to train in the morning, have a place to have lunch, rest and return to training in the afternoon. In Rio de Janeiro, this doesn't exist. That's why Flamengo went 17 years without being Brazilian champion, and why Fluminense hasn't been one for a long time [since 1984]", added Marcos Braz.
\ \In 2009, as in recent years, Flamengo alternated its training sessions between Gávea and Ninho do Urubu, the club's training center. In the final stretch of the Brasileirão, practically all activities were held at the training center, which is located in the Vargem Grande neighborhood, in the west of the city.
\ \However, the choice was much more to distance the players from the climate of euphoria that took over Gávea with each victory and because the club elections were approaching, than because of the facilities at Ninho do Urubu.
\ \Although the four existing fields are in good condition, the rest of the structure leaves much to be desired, both for the players, the coaching staff, and the press. Left-back Juan even stated that he would prefer to train at Gávea, as the facilities there are better.
\ \Because of this, future president Patrícia Amorim has already promised to invest in the facility, which also serves as a training ground for the youth teams. According to the former swimmer, it will be necessary to spend approximately R$25 million on the facility. The initial investment will be between R$15 and R$XNUMX million, with the remainder to be made later.

Atlético defeats Flamengo and goes into the under-20 semifinal against Fluminense

\ \With a goal from Breno in the 45th minute of the second half, Atlético-MG beat Flamengo 2-1 this Friday in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, securing their place in the semi-finals of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship next Sunday. Of the three games already played in the quarter-finals, this was the first that was not decided by penalty shootout.
\ \Atlético's opponent will be Fluminense, who eliminated Botafogo on penalties 5-4 on Thursday, after a 2-2 draw in regulation time. In the semifinals, Atlético-MG faced Flamengo in a tight match, played in intense heat. Each team outplayed their opponents in one of the stages.
\
The red-black team was better in the first half, when they scored their goal in the 42nd minute through Saba, converting a penalty kick given away a minute earlier by Atlético's Gabriel. "I'm very calm, that's my secret," the Flamengo player commented to Sportv as he left the pitch for half-time.
"I waited as long as I could to see the corner he was going to take, but unfortunately I couldn't save it. We're going to correct our mistakes and try to turn the game around in the second half. If that's not possible, at least a draw to take the decision to penalties. We've trained and we're prepared," commented goalkeeper Paulo Vítor.
\ \Atlético-MG came back stronger in the second half, passing the ball around more and creating the best chances in the final 45 minutes. Atlético's goal came in the 5th minute, scored by Wescley. The ball was set up by Augusto, following a cross from the left by Rômulo.
\ \When everything indicated that the game would also go to penalties, Breno, who had come on for Wescley, who scored the first goal, made a good individual play and sealed the victory for the black and white team. "It's the best feeling possible. Coming on and scoring the goal that will qualify," celebrated the young Atlético player.

The All-Star Game, an event hosted by Zico and now in its sixth year, invariably attracts a larger number of Flamengo fans to the stadium, partly due to the former player's strong connection with the Gávea club. This year's celebration at the Maracanã stadium has an added bonus for Flamengo fans: the 2009 Brazilian Championship trophy.
\ \Before the celebratory game, Galinho will present the official title trophy to the Flamengo players who attend the meeting, which brings together athletes from different generations. The reason is that, on the day of the victory, in the 2-1 victory over Grêmio, the trophy was not at Maracanã, and therefore, the Flamengo fans were unable to see it up close.
\ \"This year's Brazilian Championship trophy was presented to Flamengo at a party organized by the CBF, so fans haven't yet had the opportunity to see it up close. \ \"We always try to make a party that is attractive to all fans and this year will be no different. But Flamengo's victory in the Brasileirão was a landmark event this year and nothing is more fair than paying this tribute to the fans," Junior continued.
\ \The All-Star Game will take place at 17 p.m. on December 27th and will feature, as its main match, a duel between Flamengo and Guests. In this case, the Flamengo team will be composed of members of the six national titles won by the Gávea club. \ \\ \
According to Privacy Policy revealed last Wednesday that talks between Flamengo's new board and former volleyball player José Carlos Brunoro are advanced. The Flamengo directors' dream is to have the now-entrepreneur as the club's executive director. However, after a conversation between future president Patrícia Amorim and Brunoro last Thursday, the direction of their plans may be slightly different.
\ \This Friday, the director revealed that the most likely path will be for his company, Brunoro Sports, to provide consultancy work for Flamengo in the long term.
\ \"It wouldn't be me personally, but rather my company working with Flamengo. A project in the club's sports area," Brunoro explained to Radio Brazil.
\ \Next week, after Patrícia Amorim's inauguration on Tuesday, the parties are expected to meet again to further discuss the matter. At this meeting, Brunoro is expected to submit a proposal for his company, prioritizing football first.
\ \"In the first phase, we would make a diagnosis, seeing how the club's departments work. Then, with our analyses in hand, we would propose a project to the club. Initially, we will take care of football and an operational part. Then we will see what else we can do. We should make a definitive proposal next week," said Brunoro.
\ \Although he was raised in volleyball, a sport in which he was both a player and a coach, Brunoro, who is also a physical education teacher, has extensive experience in soccer. Today, he is the director of the Pão de Açúcar group, which has a soccer team in São Paulo and another in Rio de Janeiro in the lower divisions. However, in the 1990s, he had a notable stint at Palmeiras.
\ \From 1992 onwards, he was the strong man of the green and white football team, serving as Sports Director for Parmalat in South America, the company that sponsored the Parque Antarctica club for years. During this period, he won the São Paulo State Championship in 1993, 1994 and 1996; the Brazilian Championship in 1993 and 1994 and the Rio-São Paulo Championship in 1993.
\ \Brunoro only left the multinational in the second half of 1997 and opened his own company, Brunoro Sports, which he runs to this day, combining this with the work he carried out at the Pão de Açúcar group.

Board officially announces proposal to keep Zé Roberto at Fla for longer

\ \ \ \\ \
Zé Roberto still doesn't know which club he will play for in 2010
\ \Flamengo sent Schalke 04 an offer to keep Zé Roberto. The amounts are well below those previously mentioned. To make matters worse, Cruzeiro is also in the running to secure the backer.
\
"Flamengo has already made its official offer. Now all that's left is to wait for Schalke's decision, as they've also been making inquiries from other places and will decide what's best," explained Rodrigo Fonseca, Zé Roberto's agent.
\
Before the Brazilian Championship ended, the red-black board met with the German club's representative in Brazil, Christin Rapp, and raised the possibility of paying €1 million (around R$2,5 million) in six installments to acquire the player's rights. The official proposal sent this week, however, was quite different.
\
\ Without many resources, the red-black offer was €400 (around R$1 million)\ for 20% of the supporter's rights and a two-year contract. This amount would be paid in eight quarterly installments.
\
The proposal is already in the hands of Schalke 04, which also has inquiries from clubs in the Middle East. But it is Cruzeiro who is fighting the most for the player, alongside Flamengo.
\
\ - Cruzeiro also made an official proposal to Schalke – said Fonseca, without giving further details.
\
Zé Roberto's loan to Flamengo ends this month. The player has already said publicly that he would like to stay at Gávea to compete in the Libertadores. He is on vacation in Bahia.

The first and second shirts will not undergo major changes, with the official one keeping the thinner black and red stripes, and the number 2, white, remains with both - one black, the other red - on the chest, with the club's crest in the center.
\ \\ \
The main "change" will be the inclusion of the CBF symbol, a right acquired by the club as current Brazilian champion - on the main shirt, it will be in the center of the chest, and on the number 2, on the sleeve. Both will be available to fans from February.
\ \\ \
The main new addition will be the third model, which will have the same design as the home jersey, the traditional red and black, but in different colors. Instead of red and black, the uniform will be blue and yellow. And, of course, it will also feature the crest alluding to the team's sixth national championship.

Future sponsor must pay Vagner Love's salary
\ \The board wants a new partner to participate in the arrival of the striker, who is Flamengo's biggest dream for 2010.
\ \ \ \On vacation, Love is in Flamengo's sights
\ \The red-black board says that the main signings for 2010 will be the renewals with the champion players. But the dream consumer for the Libertadores is really the striker Vagner Love. For this, Flamengo is already putting together a strategy that\ involves the future sponsor.
\
The club's directors believe they should announce the partnership by next Tuesday. The club's marketing department is negotiating with Ale, BR (linked to Petrobrás), Bozzano, and Batavo. The figures are estimated to be around R$26 million annually. However, there is a caveat to the negotiation: a percentage of the amount will be used to pay part (probably image rights) of the striker's salary.
\
\ GLOBOESPORTE.COM spoke to a friend of Love, who assured that he does not\ want to continue in Palmeiras, with whom he has a contract until 2010. The main reasons for this are the attack he suffered by fans at the beginning of the month and the fact that he returned to Brazil to compete in the Libertadores. Love had already told people at Palmeiras that he wanted to leave. Concern for his family's safety also contributed to his decision.
\
\ Furthermore, Flamengo, which will participate in the competition, is his favorite club.\ Not to mention the possibility of forming a strike partnership with Adriano, which he views\ favorably. Love has already spoken to Flamengo players and\ commented that it would be great to be with them.
\
"I've also heard about Flamengo's interest. But no one has called me yet. He has to report to Palmeiras on January 4th. So far, that's all that's been decided," said Evandro Ferreira, the player's agent.
\
But for now, this whole matter is being handled discreetly behind the scenes at Gávea. Especially since a release from Palmeiras won't be easy. There's also the need to negotiate with CSKA, Russia, with whom Love has a contract for another three years.
\
\ GLOBOESPORTE.COM tried to speak to the vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, throughout\ this Friday, but he did not answer.

In less than 20 years, Maracanã will undergo its third major renovation
\ \Club World Cup, Pan-American and, now, the World Cup force stadiums to constantly adapt
\ \ \ \\ \
Model of the new Maracanã project
\ \This Thursday, the Maracanã construction plan was announced to meet FIFA's requirements for the 2014 World Cup. According to the project, R$500 million will be spent (including R$400 million from BNDES and R$100 million from the State Government) to adapt the stadium. The amount, already considered high compared to what was spent to build some arenas for the World Cup in Germany, could be lower if the standards had already been met in other major renovations the venue underwent.
\
In 1999, at a cost of R$52 million, Maracanã underwent its first major makeover, with a view to the 2000 FIFA Club World Cup. The stands were given plastic seats, and boxes were built in the spaces behind these areas. Now, for the World Cup, both the seats and the boxes will have to undergo changes. FIFA wants there to be space for people to circulate and air to circulate behind the stands. This will result in the boxes being placed below this area. Another request from soccer's governing body is that the seats be fitted with retractable chairs.
\ \
Five years after Corinthians won the Club World Cup, Maracanã underwent major modifications again to host the Pan American Games opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the tournament's football matches. This time, among other changes, the pitch was lowered and the former general seating area was re-seated so that all spectators could watch the game seated. However, despite the R$196 million spent, the stadium once again failed to fully comply with FIFA standards. The current blue seats will disappear and be replaced by a lower stand, which will provide a better view for those in the seating area.
\ \\ \
Construction work for the World Cup will begin in March of next year, but the venue will only be closed in September. The stadium's facade will also be modified and will be gray, as it was previously.
\ \\ \
- The concept of Maracanã for 2014 is to become a large public park for the city, allowing fans to arrive early and enjoy various services, such as bars, restaurants and shops - says the Secretary of Sports, Tourism and Leisure for the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Márcia Lins.
