With no time to celebrate Flamengo's sixth Brazilian championship title, vice-president of football Marcos Braz is working to maintain and strengthen the Flamengo squad for the 2010 season. After agreeing to keep coach Andrade, the director spent the week in São Paulo, where he managed to reach an agreement with businessman Gilmar Rinaldi to keep Adriano until June 2010, when his current contract ends. Negotiations are also underway to finalize the transfer of striker Vágner Love from Palmeiras. The São Paulo club is reluctant to negotiate the player.
\
\
"Most of the negotiations for transfers, renewals and sponsorship contracts are done in São Paulo. My goal is to renew with the group that defended Flamengo in 2009 and strengthen the team," said Marcos Braz, by telephone.

Marcos Braz's effort to keep Adriano at Flamengo was enormous and involved the collaboration of Gilmar Rinaldi and the player himself. He had a million-dollar offer to transfer to Roma in Italy.
\
\
However, Adriano's desire to remain in Brazil prevailed, at least until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, starting in June.
\
\
Marcos Braz has been talking with Traffic executives and has practically secured a one-year renewal of midfielder Everton's loan, whose economic rights belong to the company. He also continues to fight to keep midfielder Aírton at Flamengo.
\
\
Benfica made an offer worth R$7 million for the player, whose economic rights are divided between Nova Iguaçu (50%), Traffic (30%) and Flamengo. But Braz considers the amount to be transferred to Flamengo (around R$1,2 million) low.
\
\
- We will not sell the player based on the offer we received. Either he stays at Flamengo or Benfica increases its offer, - said Marcos Braz.
\
\
In the case of Vágner Love, the director explained that the player was an option for a possible departure of Adriano. However, negotiations with Vágner Love have begun and the director sees possibilities for them to come to fruition, although the Palmeiras board is firm in its efforts to keep the player.
\
\
- There is a negotiation. It doesn't mean it will work out, but we are working on it - commented Braz.
\
\
The club is also negotiating a new shirt sponsorship. Batavo and Ale have already expressed interest, along with other companies. A portion of the funds from the company that signs with the club could be used to sign Vágner Love.
\
\
Yesterday, in a festive atmosphere, Flamengo fans marched along the Leblon-Ipanema beachfront, celebrating their sixth Brazilian championship. Today, the board will decide where the team's 2010 preseason will be held.

Palmeiras directors deny Love at Flamengo
\ \\ \ \ \ \ \ Rio de Janeiro: Speculations about the possible arrival of Vagner Love to Flamengo seem to be, at least until now, what they are... Mere speculations, without realistic basis or truth in their facts, at least for the green and white board, which vehemently stated that it has not received any contact from the board of the six-time Brazilian champion to discuss the player.
\ \ \ \\ \
The Rubro Negro, however, has made it clear repeatedly that it wants the player, and recently, directors have stated that they would try to contact him due to his devaluation in São Paulo football after a poor second half of the year with the Alviverde. Even so, Palmeiras counterattacked, saying that despite the problems, both the board and coach Muricy are counting on the striker for 2010, and that they have no intention of selling or loaning him out. Flamengo may sign Marquinhos from Avaí
\ \ \ \\ \
\ \
Rio de Janeiro: While in other seasons Flamengo's main plays were built on the wings, in this Brazilian Championship the midfielders were the protagonists. Players like Petkovic, Zé Roberto and Willians stood out. But for next season, Flamengo's directors must sign another quality midfielder.
\ \One name that appears to be strong is midfielder Marquinhos, a standout player in Avaí's excellent campaign in the Brasileirão. The player previously played for Flamengo in 2002. His agent, Luiz Alberto, confirms the Rubro-Negro club's interest. But he admits that the transfer will only happen if it is profitable for the athlete and the club (Avaí).

Reinforcements needed
\ \
\
Vice President of Football Marcos Braz has already stated that the priority is to maintain the championship-winning youth academy. However, if any key player leaves Flamengo, it's possible to sign more players. Left-back is a case in point. Juan is expected to negotiate with European clubs. The immediate backup is young Jorbison. Or Egídio, currently on loan at Figuirense. However, it's possible that a signing will be made for the sector.

Fla is dating Vágner Love
\ \Flamengo's board is waiting for Palmeiras' release to finalize the signing of the top scorer
\ \BY THALES SOARES
\ \Rio - Flamengo's vice president of football, Marcos Braz, is just waiting for today's meeting between Vágner Love and his representatives with Palmeiras to try to sign the striker. The director swears he didn't go to São Paulo specifically to discuss the Love case nor did he agree on a salary with the player, but if Verdão releases the top scorer negotiate new destination, Flamengo will enter the dispute, as 'Ataque' reported on the 11th.
\
\
Cautious, Braz says that his relationship with the president of Palmeiras, Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo, would not allow harassment of the player without knowledge of the Pig. Love, however, was at the Christmas Without Hunger party in Rocinha yesterday and reportedly said that negociação between him and Fla would be\ advanced.
\
\
Palmeiras' vice president of football, Gilberto Cipullo, stated that the club's desire is to keep the striker until the end of his contract in July of next year. According to the director, Verdão made a huge effort to bring in the striker, who plays for CSKA Moscow, and hopes that he will perform as expected next season.
\
\
Flamengo wants to have a dream attack in the Copa Libertadores with Love and Adriano, a duo of Brazilian Team, but Braz guarantees that he will not go beyond the football budget, which was just over R$90 million in 2010, to sign the Palmeiras player. "I will lose a maximum of two players (Zé Roberto and Aírton) and sign up to four," he said.
\
\
Since Thursday in São Paulo, Braz has been working on confirming Adriano's stay in 2010. The Emperor has already expressed his desire to stay in Gávea. The director is also trying to hold on to Aírton and renew his contract with Everton.
\
\
Regarding Aírton, Braz rejected Benfica's offer. To release him, he will require the arrival of a player, likely from Traffic, in addition to a fee of approximately R$2 million. Benfica holds 15% of the player's rights.
\
\
Flamengo could close Brazil's largest sponsorship deal today. Hypermarcas, owner of Bozzano, has officially offered R$28 million per year to cover the entire jersey. Ale and Batavo have also submitted offers, but only for the front and back of the uniform, with values approaching R$20 million.

\ \With many flags and banners, the "parade" organized by crowd Fla-Manguaça went from post 9 to 12,\ to the sound of lots of drumming and songs sung by Flamengo fans.
