For Flamengo fans, R10's statement isn't redundant. After all, they have six Brazilian Championships, one World Cup, two Rio-São Paulo Championships, 32 Carioca championship titles, two Brazilian Cups, and a nation of 40 million passionate fans. To celebrate its 116th anniversary, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo will occupy Fundição Progresso on November 14th, the eve of the holiday, with the "Flamengo is Flamengo" party, which will be added to the city's calendar of events.

The red and black team's gala evening kicks off with the "Flasamba" tabletop pagode. Moacyr Luz leads the samba circle, which features a selection of athletes and singers Ivo Meirelles, Dominguinhos do Estácio, Diogo Nogueira, and Leandro Sapucahy. A video will be featured on the big screen, chronicling memorable goals, unforgettable matches, and victories, with original commentary by Apolinho and Ary Barroso.

"Flamengo, Flamengo/ Your glory is to fight/ Flamengo, Flamengo/ Champion of land and sea": with a chorus adapted from the club's official anthem, the Charanga, which has welcomed its team onto the field since 1942, invades the arena to lead the "Happy Birthday to You" chant. Synonymous with "out-of-tune and noisy musical group," it was Ary Barroso who named the small orchestra that accompanied the games. Rather than take offense, founder Jaime de Carvalho adopted the name Charanga Rubro-Negra, creating the first organized fan group in Brazil still active in stadiums today.

Paulão 7 Cordas will lead the final show featuring the greatest Flamengo fans in Brazilian popular music: Arlindo Cruz, Almir Guineto, and Neguinho da Beija-Flor. All of the Clube de Regatas' sports will be honored, with a parade of the basketball, volleyball, swimming, rowing, canoeing, futsal, judo, gymnastics, synchronized swimming, and water polo teams. An exhibition from the Flamengo Museum and drawings by cartoonist Lan round out the evening, which also promises many surprises prepared by the Flamengo fan base at Fundição Progresso.
