The Presidents of Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, Fluminense Football Club, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama met on 22/02/2011 to discuss aspects related to the competition, forwarded by Clube dos 13, with the purpose of acquiring broadcasting rights for the Brazilian Professional Football Championship games.
As a result, it was decided that the clubs will adopt a joint position on the issue at hand, based primarily on the uncompromising defense of the interests of football in Rio de Janeiro and, furthermore, the satisfaction of the greater interests of Brazilian football in general.
Consequently, the following preliminaries were set by the four clubs:
- Not recognizing as adequate the way in which, until now, the Club of 13 has conducted, before its members, the project for the new transmission contract;
- The clubs, consequently, declare themselves to be free from any obligation before the Club of 13, and are willing to deal directly with the interested companies with all commercial aspects relating to the broadcasting rights for the Brazilian Championship games.
Rio de Janeiro, February 23, 2011.
Patricia Amorim
President of the Flamengo Regatta Club
Mauricio Assumption
President of Botafogo Football and Regatta
Peter Siemsen
President of Fluminense Football Club
Carlos Roberto Dinamite de Oliveira
President of the Vasco da Gama Regatta Club
PS: The Presidents of the four clubs, in a press conference, at 11 am on Thursday (24.02), at the Windsor Hotel, in Barra da Tijuca, will provide additional clarifications.
