When she entered the Rogério Steinberg auditorium in Gávea on Monday afternoon (21.02), Flamengo president Patricia Amorim knew she had a very important announcement to make to the nation. With the recognition of the title won on the field in 1987, the leader can, once again, reinforce the only promise she made during her campaign.
"I said I would hand over a Flamengo that was better than the one I found. And I can say I'm doing just that. I took over a club with five recognized titles and I'll hand it over with six. If I were to leave the presidency today, I would be happy," he said.
Patricia was questioned by journalists and answered questions on several topics, including the controversy surrounding the Taça das Bolinhas (Ball Cup), a possible tribute to the 1987 champions, and more. Watch the full press conference:
Happiness with recognition
"Today is the happiest day since I took over as president of Flamengo. I would say it's one of the happiest days of my life. I emphasize the players' achievements on the field, but if there was any doubt about the hard work done by this board, there is no longer any. I would like to give special thanks to our legal department. Everyone is passionate about Flamengo and has dedicated themselves to this matter. All their technical work has supported the club in achieving this achievement," said Patricia.

I thank the president of the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation, Rubens Lopes, a partner at all times, especially the most difficult ones. I also thank the entire Flamengo board of directors and all the presidents of power. These people work day after day for Flamengo. Cup of Little Balls
"I didn't follow anything that was said today about this. I honestly don't know if São Paulo has taken a position or not, but I hope the club has the grace to return the Cup to Caixa Econômica Federal. With our '87 title established, Flamengo becomes the first five-time Brazilian champion. I hope they recognize that. The Cup materializes the title, and we know the fans want it. One thing they can be sure of: Flamengo doesn't want to lose anything anymore. On and off the field," said the Flamengo director.
Stance of São Paulo
"As I said before, Flamengo will await São Paulo's decision. Even more so since the current president, Juvenal Juvêncio, was president of the club at the time of the title and signed documents recognizing Flamengo as champion. I expect that from him," he concluded, praising the red-black victory.

There's a meeting next Wednesday, and after that, we can provide more details about the future. I can say that Flamengo has always had the greatness to think about what's best for Brazilian football.
