Brazil has three representatives among the top five teams overall in the first phase of the Copa Libertadores, but even they won't have an easy time in the round of 16. Fluminense (first place) will face Nacional de Medellín; Flamengo (second place) will face a long trip to América de México; and Cruzeiro (fifth place) will face the Brazilian nightmare, Boca Juniors.

São Paulo, who finished in eighth place overall, will face Nacional from Uruguay; and Santos (tenth place) will play Cúcuta again, repeating the clashes from the first phase.
