In a meeting held on Tuesday night, in Gávea, Flamengo's Deliberative Council approved two contracts that will earn the club more than R$2,5 million by the end of this year.

The partnership with TIM, a mobile phone company, which will feature its brand on the inside of the soccer jersey numbers, will be signed in the coming days and will last for three years. In the first 12 months, Flamengo will receive R$2 million from the partnership. The amounts will be adjusted in subsequent years.

Another major new development in an additional contract with the telephone company will be the club's participation in royalties with the launch by the operator of the "Flamengo Chip".

"This is another company that has invested in the strength of the Flamengo brand. We're confident it will be a successful partnership, one that has everything it needs to succeed, especially given the innovations we're implementing. And best of all, we're talking about a company with the size and grandeur that Flamengo deserves," said Vice President of Marketing Henrique Brandão.

On the other hand, TIM emphasized the importance of the Flamengo brand in the market. After all, it has the largest fan base in the world.

"There's nothing better than partnering with Brazil's biggest fan base to continue our strategy of staying close to our users and potential customers. TIM believes this sponsorship will create a strong connection between the company's brand and the vast red-and-black fan base spread across the country, and we hope to launch exclusive products and benefits," highlights Rogerio Takayanagi, Marketing Director at TIM Brasil.

Formula Truck
The other contract, also approved, was with the Original Reis team for brand use in the Formula Truck series. The club's coffers will initially receive R$500 in 2011. However, earnings could reach R$1 million through a percentage of sponsors displayed on the team's trucks and royalties from licensed products.
