Patricia Amorim opened new spaces named after past stars

This Saturday (13.08) was full of inaugurations and tributes in Gávea. Flamengo president Patricia Amorim and Fla-Gávea's administrative vice-president Cacau Cotta handed over to members and athletes the new facilities named after past stars Adílio, Julio César "Uri Gueller" and Nunes.
Always together, Adílio and Julio Cesar also had their longtime friendship honored by naming the club's new futsal courts. Both men, who began their careers in indoor soccer, couldn't hide their joy at seeing their names immortalized in Gávea.
"I started playing soccer when I was six. I lived in Cruzada and would jump over the wall to be here. I'm very emotional because this court has always been part of my story. It's very difficult being a soccer player, it's important to never give up," said Adílio, who coined the slogan "From Cruzada to Gávea. From Gávea to the world."
Patricia Amorim couldn't hold back her emotions when talking about the stars and emphasized that the tribute was the payment of a 30-year debt.
"I have great respect for our heritage and history. Gávea is Flamengo's home, and one of my biggest concerns is taking care of it. These stars honored the nation 30 years ago by bringing us the World Cup title. We're just giving back," he said emotionally.
The top scorer in the finals, Nunes, named a new space with a barbecue grill and locker room next to the seven-a-side football pitch. The former number 9 expressed his love and honor upon hearing the words immortalized on the plaque in his honor.
"All Flamengo fans know that I love this nation, this club. Everything I did for Flamengo was from the heart, and I feel very honored by what's happening. I hope and know that I will see Mengão become world champions again. It's my greatest wish," he declared.
Red-Black Family Lunch
At the end of the inaugurations, everyone headed to the red-and-black family lunch, held in the club's main hall, accompanied by plenty of feijoada. The athletes from the 2011 Rio de Janeiro championship futsal teams, including the junior and junior teams, received their diplomas from their parents. Cacau Cotta emphasized the importance of this gesture for the children.
"There's nothing more exciting for a son than having his talent recognized by his father. We were able to provide this for these children, and it's priceless. It's the beginning of many things to come in Gávea," he said.
