Flamengo Fan Day promises to paint Brazil red and black
The Embassies of the Nation Project has launched a contest to choose the 'most red-and-black' city in Brazil.

Next Sunday (October 28.10), Flamengo fans will celebrate Flamengo Fans' Day. Listed as a Cultural Heritage Site of the City of Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo fans have earned their own day, according to a 2007 municipal decree, celebrated on the same day as the club's patron saint, Saint Jude Thaddeus. However, as a national club, the "Most Beloved" promises to paint Brazil red and black, especially with a beautiful contest launched by the Embassies of the Nation Project.
Mauro Chaves, responsible for running the project with the nation's embassies, devised a competition among the numerous embassies spread throughout Brazil. Whoever proves, through photos, that they 'painted' the city red and black will win the Nação Rubro-Negra Trophy, to be awarded at the 3rd International Embassy Meeting, to be held on November 17th in Gávea.
Flamengo fans who are not part of any Embassy are also encouraged to take to the streets wearing the sacred flag on this special date. Fans can also show their love for the club by displaying their flags on their homes, cars, and more.
In March 2007, the Rio de Janeiro Government established Flamengo Day, to be celebrated on November 17. In the same year, in October, the Rio de Janeiro City Hall declared Flamengo fans a cultural heritage site for promoting true spectacles, establishing Flamengo Fans' Day, to be celebrated on the 28th of the same month.
