Next Monday (08.03), at 9:30 am, Flamengo will honor the red-and-black women on International Women's Day. President Patrícia Amorim, two months in office, will welcome female employees to a special breakfast. The event will take place in the Gilberto Cardoso Filho Noble Hall, in Gávea.
"It's an important day for us women. Nothing more fair than praising those who are by our side every day, making Flamengo happen. We are paying a simple tribute to those who are so important to us," said president Patricia Amorim.
Women are truly on the rise at the club. Having recently taken office, president Patrícia Amorim has made significant strides, both in professional soccer—a fan favorite—and in Olympic sports and the club's social life.
Since January, Flamengo has achieved a significant feat: increasing its membership by 493. According to members themselves, its credibility, its history as a swimming club, and its transparent management are the main reasons for this.
"Despite the short time, many improvements have already been made to the club. I'm very satisfied. I voted for Patrícia, and I have complete confidence in her administration. I hope she continues the work of revitalizing the clubhouse and also pays more attention to Olympic sports," says member Pedro Sá.
Under the current administration, members have noticed subtle but important changes, such as the removal of 10 tons of trash from the Gávea headquarters, the installation of new furniture in the pool, the restoration of the children's playground, the renovation of the bathrooms, and the painting of the soccer department.

Concerned with maintaining the level of the professional soccer team, which won its sixth Brazilian championship in 2009, the president, early in her term, signed the largest sponsorship deal in the club's history: 25 million, with BRfoods (Batavo). In addition, Flamengo also negotiated a fee to be paid for the sleeve space of the sacred jersey: 8 million, with BMG.
Such enthusiasm is reflected on the field. The red-and-black team maintained its six-time champion base and also managed to strengthen itself well, with names like Vagner Love, a card-carrying Flamengo fan. This season, Flamengo has lost only one match and proven itself to be a team with grit, as well as technique. In its Libertadores debut, down one player for almost the entire first half, the players ran hard and secured a 2-0 victory.
HIRING FOR OLYMPIC SPORTS
In Olympic sports, the club also made a qualitative leap. In artistic gymnastics, in addition to boasting renowned athletes Diego Hypólito, Daniele Hypolito, Jade Barbosa, and Letícia Costa, the club signed Janaína Silva, as well as Khiuani Dias and Ana Claudia Silva, both 17 and members of the Brazilian national team.
In judo and swimming, the sport that made the president famous, Flamengo has hired new coaches. On the mats, André Luiz F. da Silveira e Silva joined the CRF team. Meanwhile, in the pool, Marco Veiga takes over as head coach.
The red-and-black swimming team also managed to sign athletes who have previously donned red and black in competitions. In total, they signed 10 athletes, including South American champion Monique Ferreira.
