GLOBOESPORTE.COM\ Diego Hypolito leaves hospital feeling confident after surgery in Rio de Janeiro. After undergoing arthroscopy on Tuesday morning, gymnast Diego Hypolito was discharged from Copa D'OR Hospital early this evening. Accompanied by his family, the athlete walked away, albeit with a slight limp. Diego's surgery was to correct a tear in the medial meniscus of his right knee, which had been bothering him for a few weeks. The gymnast will recover in three to four weeks.\

"I'm very confident. The surgery was simple. I'm sure the recovery will be smooth. I trained for four years for the Olympics, and these few weeks won't be a problem. If I don't win, it won't be because I didn't have time. I ask everyone to stay calm and cheer for me, because I'm sure everything will work out," he says, confident that he'll be 100% fit for the Beijing Olympics.

Diego opted for the surgery because he had been experiencing pain in his right knee, which was making him less confident during acrobatics. Furthermore, the gymnast was worried about jeopardizing his performance at the Olympics. Dona Geni, the athlete's mother, said he will be accompanied by his family during the weeks of recovery. According to her, everything will be done to ensure Diego feels comfortable and returns to the stage as soon as possible.
