Jano came to Rio de Janeiro in 2000 and became a Flamengo fan. The film reveals this, and his shots at a packed Maracanã stadium for a Flamengo game (we don't learn who they're playing against, as that's irrelevant...) are quite beautiful. He even suffers a minor 'censorship' from the editor of his Rio de Janeiro section for the excessive number of characters wearing Flamengo jerseys.

FGV Film Club concludes its first semester program next Friday with the screening of the film Rio de Jano, a 75-minute documentary (2003), by Eduardo Souza Lima, Anna Azevedo and Renata Baldi.

Over the course of 50 days of filming, French cartoonist and cartoonist Jano (pronounced Janô) travels around Rio de Janeiro and records in his travel notebook the places and characters he meets and which, in his view, are characteristic and unique to our city.

In April of this year, the film was shown at the Georges Pompidou Center, Paris, as part of an exhibition dedicated to comic book authors who created comics based on their travels.

After the session there will be a debate about the film with the three directors and with Bianca Freire-Medeiros, a researcher at CPDOC.
