Saturday morning was filled with excitement and celebration at the Gávea headquarters. Around 300 people attended the inauguration of the second stage of the club's Walk of Fame. 100 Olympic athletes and another 329 soccer athletes were immortalized on the 250 new plaques, which will have their names inscribed in the new space located in the club's main entrance hall, opposite the museum entrance. 

In attendance were stars from the past and present who helped build the club's glorious history. Names like world champions Cesar Cielo, Fabiana Beltrame, and Diego Hypolito. Jackie Silva, Isabel Salgado, Luiza Parente, Daniele Hypolito, Marina Canetti, Jade Barbosa, Marcelinho, Duda, and soccer players Bebeto, Pet, Jean, Leandro, Adilio, Julio Cesar Uri Gueller, Silva Batuta, Joubert, Fernandinho, and many others.

President Patricia Amorim, visibly moved, took the opportunity to thank everyone who helped build the red-black memory and fought so hard to win titles and medals around the world.  

"First of all, I would like to thank the Historical Heritage for taking the time to preserve this entire history. Our goal was to honor all those sports figures who made Flamengo such a great institution. Wearing the Flamengo jersey and through Flamengo, wearing the Brazilian jersey, they made history. There are many glories and achievements, and each of those whose names are on this sidewalk today contributed to making Flamengo the most beloved club in Brazil. I was a Laureate athlete, became a Meritorious Athlete, and today I am President, and for me it is a thrill and a great honor to have you on our Walk of Fame. My emotion and my sincere thanks to each of you who made Flamengo such a special club."  

Brazilian Champion with Flamengo in 87, Bebeto was one of the most sought after by those present and did not hide his emotion at the tribute.

"This is my home, my life. I'm a Flamengo fan, I've always been a Flamengo fan, everyone knows that and I get goosebumps just talking about it. It's a pleasure and a great honor to be part of this moment," he commented.

Hero of the 2001 state championship victory, Pet also attended, took many photos and thanked Flamengo for the memory.

"Flamengo is a much-loved club and I'm very happy to be part of this important moment."

Olympic medalist and world record holder Cesar Cielo was also barely able to walk. Always greeting everyone with a smile on his face, the swimmer spoke of the honor of being immortalized at Flamengo.  

"Being alongside so many important people who were part of Flamengo's history is a great honor. Without a doubt, it's a special moment, and being immortalized in the history of a club like this is fantastic," said world champion Cesar Cielo.

Fernandinho, the club's goalkeeper in the 20s, made a point of attending with his family even at 99 years of age.

"Reaching 99 years old and being remembered by the club you love so much is an immense emotion. I never thought I would reach this age and feel so honored and prestigious. I'm very happy."

Important figures in the red-and-black artistic gymnastics, the Hypolito brothers praised the initiative.

"This tribute is very beautiful because it remembers all the athletes who have been and continue to be part of the club's history. It pays tribute to athletes past, present, and future," said Daniele.

"It's very important to honor all the athletes who have been part of Flamengo's history, which is a world-renowned club in various sports. It's really cool, remembering everyone who won state, national, and world titles," Diego added.

The new Walk of Fame is a project of the Flamengo Museum in partnership with the Instituto Atleta Rubro-Negro, which rescued Flamengo's Olympic memory, in addition to having made possible the sponsorship of Sinal Construtora, responsible for the full cost of the works.
