Manager praises Flamengo's recent growth

Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, in an interview with SporTV, made a point of highlighting the Rubro-Negro's evolution in terms of results since his return to the club's board in 2005.

"Since 2005, Flamengo has grown significantly. We've won two Rio titles, the Copa do Brasil, and participated in two editions of the Copa Libertadores," he explained.

Kléber Leite also spoke about the political moment that Flamengo is going through and praised the bravery of president Marcio Braga and criticized some profiteers.

"President Márcio Braga has been a warrior, but I sense a weariness in him that's starting to weigh on him. Politically, Flamengo is going through a very difficult time. The election isn't until the end of 2009, but the electoral process has already begun. We're seeing a sea of irresponsibility and recklessness on the part of unemployed people," he complained.

Kléber Leite complains again about the Ronaldo case

When asked about Ronaldo's move to Corinthians on a SporTV program, Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, criticized the way the negotiation was conducted, as the Rubro-Negro had total priority to sign the Phenomenon.

The director's biggest gripe is with Fabiano Farah, the Phenomenon's manager, who allegedly agreed on one thing and did something completely different.

"The problem isn't having Ronaldo, but the way it was handled. It was deplorable ethically on his part. He told us that when he thought the time was right, he would tell us to make the offer," he declared.

Kléber Leite guarantees that the proposal to be made by Flamengo was not so different from the one Corinthians made to have Ronaldo at Parque São Jorge:

"Marketing had already set up the entire structure, the project was ready. If you doubt it, they copied it. The difference in the project was minimal. If you're not careful, it was his agent who took it to Corinthians."

Kléber Leite complains about Botafogo's board

In an interview with SporTV, Flamengo's vice president of football, Kléber Leite, complained about Botafogo's stance against the club. According to the director, there is an order at General Severiano that no Flamengo player be released to the Gávea club.

According to Kléber Leite, the rule would have been drawn up to not favor Flamengo, which is Alvinegro's biggest rival, due to the exodus that is occurring in the Botafogo squad.

"I was upset to learn that Botafogo has decided that players leaving the club could go to any club except Flamengo. This happened recently with defender Renato Silva, who could have been our player and ended up going to São Paulo."

Kléber Leite believes that these situations only exist due to the difference in Flamengo's treatment of its competitors compared to the other way around.

"For Flamengo, the three rivals are on equal footing. For them, Flamengo is their archrival. We even have a plan to help Vasco and loan players," he roared.
